Chapter 12: Fallout follows

The boardroom was quiet now but I could still hear Chloe's shaky voice and from the corner of my eyes, I could see Seth's terrified face and he was really sweating.

I was unaware of the commotion I had just caused, the city below buzzed. I have been painted as weak, broken and replaceable by Chloe and Seth. But I wasn't that and I had shown them today how mistaken they were. My eyes were cold and my voice steady and my words were incisive enough to cut through flesh. And there was nowhere for them to run to when I presented all the proof of their deceit and treachery.

Even Seth's slick tongue was insufficient to save them, he was just looking like the fool that he is. The quiet that followed me back to my office was deafening though. My phone buzzed again.

Jason.

For the fifth time today. I kept staring at it until the screen ceased vibrating. He too had sent messages. Lots of messages and the usual love messages.
