BethanyMy mouth waters as if I’m drooling over a delicious desert. I can’t even remember my question or why I’m in Alpha Blake’s office. The only thing rolling through my head right now is how delicious and tasty the cherry scent hanging in the air is. A dense haze fills my head while I force myself to focus in on Blake sitting behind his desk. My wolf jumps forward and wags her tails, while drooling, too. The smell is having the same effect on her as it is on me, but I gather all my might and push it to the side. My stomach flutters as I take a deep breath. The alluring cherry smell fills my lungs, making me want to inhale more, but I stop myself. My wolf’s tail wags frantically while she licks the drool off her mouth. She eagerly steps forward, almost like she is expecting something to happen. My eyebrows knot together as I force myself to keep my focus on Blake. He has called me here, and his request is my top priority, no matter how the alluring cherry scent pulls me i
BryannaI stare down at my phone as fear slowly consumes me. What did he mean by that? How is he going to show me what he is capable of? Don’t I already know? I’m his daughter, and I’ve seen all his hideous sides, especially the ones he doesn’t let anyone else see.I glance across the room at Julie and Ted, silently begging for them to tell me my fears are unwarranted. But instead of being met with a reassuring look telling me I’m wrong, I find an apologetic gaze mixed with concern and worry. My stomach sinks. Zack’s warm arms wrap around me as he kisses the top of my head and whispers, “I won’t let him do anything to you. We will show him who is the true alpha of the pack, and it isn’t him.”His confident and determined tone pushes my worries aside, but it can’t completely remove the nagging feeling tugging at me. The same feeling which knows my father won’t let his subtle threat disappear in the wind. He will prove his point, and soon. But how?Just as the question swirls
BryannaWith my arms crossed over my chest, I lean against the back cement wall of the interrogation room and glare at the rogue. He is barely awake and has cuts all over his body, while blood slowly oozes down the side of his face and the front of his bare chest. His breathing is shallow, and he is rather pale. The pack doctors and nurses are waiting outside in the hall, in case they are needed. This is the only rogue to survive, and he is the smallest of all of them.I grind my teeth as Blake leans over the small table and slaps the side of the man’s face. His eyes blink and open for a moment as he looks up at the Alpha. The prisoner briefly focuses on Blake and frowns before his eyelids slowly dip back down. My frustrations surge as I fight back the urge to take over the interrogation. I’m still not sure exactly how the other prisoner died. He was alive when we drug him here and when I left the interrogation room. Moments later, he was dead. He wasn’t as injured as this
Dale (Bry’s Father)My grip tightens around my phone as I grind my teeth. Idiots! I have freaking idiots working for me. I stare out my living room window. With my lip twitching into a sneer, I growl, “What do you mean the deal can’t be completed? We had an agreement last week. All you were waiting for was the contract. Now, the contract is completed, and you are refusing to sign it. Why?”A gruff voice replies, “You haven’t held up your end of the bargain yet. I also don’t believe you can get me what I’m wanting. There isn’t any other way to hammer out this deal and complete this contract, no matter what you offer.”My phone creaks as my grip tightens again. I’m not losing this deal. If I can get him to sign the contract, the additional land and money will help propel me to be the most powerful alpha in the world. No one would then dare to go against me. As I grit my teeth, my worthless daughter comes to mind. Clearly, something is going on over at Yellow Moon. There
BryannaI unroll a map of the pack lands, which includes the locations of all the various buildings and other important things. After yesterday’s debacle with the prisoner, we have taken a tour of the grounds where the rogues were found and also the various factories in the surrounding area. We all agree we are missing something important, but we still can’t figure out what it is. I glance around the table. “Considering there isn’t much else in that part, I’m going to assume they are after something within the buildings over there.” I trace my finger around the area where we recently fought with the rogues. Zack leans over the table and with a pen marks all the previous spots where they have had attacks, including all of them prior to me coming, which are all in the same general area only the older attacks are closure to the border. Then he moves to the opposite side of the map and, in a different color, marks the ‘decoy’ attack. Blake nods and rests his hands on the table on
BryannaI slowly walk along the side of the training field and watch everyone practicing the latest move. A sense of pride washes over me as most have picked it up and have mastered it with little effort. Now, they need to keep practicing so they can do it without thinking when they are in a fight. Zack nudges my arm. “They look pretty good.”I smile and nod. “Yes. They are getting it much faster than other groups I’ve worked with. I think it might be because they understand the urgency to learn it fast and help protect the pack. I don’t know if the pack hadn’t been having problems if they would have been this dedicated to it.”“Hmm. Maybe you are right.”I scan the group and stifle a chuckle. I motion to the far corner to two very awkward women. “Is this the first time either Lindsey or Bethany have ever trained? They look so out of place.”He sighs. “Yeah. When your mothers found out the two have never stepped foot in the training area, they quickly sat the two down an
Bryanna I stomp around the conference room. My father’s words bounce around in my head, but I can’t believe what he was saying. How could he even think I would do anything for him at this point? He is going behind my back, the pack alpha, and plotting something. I still don’t know exactly what, but an uneasy feeling washes over me every time I think about it. What is he up to? Zack steps up beside me and caresses my back. “Bry, baby, you need to calm down. You don’t know what he wants. He didn’t say anything other than he needs your help. Every time you tried to question him, he was vague and wouldn’t answer your questions. It could be nothing.” Nothing. Ha! If he is calling me, it isn’t nothing. From the other side of the table, Jacob shakes his head. “You don’t know his history. You only know a little of it, which includes her father taking her to a witch to cast the spell. That is only the tip of the iceberg and one of the many reasons, Hunter and I asked to be
Dale (Bry’s father)A faint grin dances along my lips as I lean back on my couch. My arms rest along the back while my fingers grasp the top of a short tumbler glass filled about half full of whiskey. Thoughts of my future wealth and power flutter about in my head as I slowly swirl the glass around in a circle. This is just the beginning. I have had so many dreams and ideas with my original alliance contract with Ted and Max’s packs, but those all have fallen flat when their stupid lunas got involved and halted everything. Why couldn’t those stupid women mind their own business? I’m not doing anything wrong. Plus, Bry is my child. I can parent the useless omega any way I want. No one can stop me. My lip twitches upward as images of those stupid women disrupting my plans flash through my mind. Well, this time they can’t stop me. I won’t be dealing with their packs. Bry can’t say no either. A rumor has gotten back to me through one of my many spies that both Jacob and Hunt
