The tangled bin of thread was a disaster and I was so mad with Matthew for doing that to me. I didn’t stress it, though, I decided to use my head to solve the problem and I took a pair of scissors and cut the thread right where it was at the spool, leaving one giant, colorful, tangled mess in my trash bin under my desk.
I knew that Matthew would be mad at me for taking the easy way out, he was trying to make my life hell because I went out with his rival. It was only my second day working for him, how was I supposed to know that they were practically enemies?
There is such a thing as friendliness in the industry, and I think that it’s time for Matthew to learn how to be civil with people; how to not call women whores, and to respect other designers.
“This is cheating,” he sneered.
“No, that is clever - Thinking with your head,” I pointed to my temple, just to make sure he knew which head I was talking about usi
The past couple of weeks have been so much fun messing with Emma, I’ve never had so much fun with an assistant before. After my date with David’s assistant, the next day, he paid a visit to my office and created quite a scene.[FLASHBACK]I was at my desk on my laptop replying to some emails when I saw a large figure in the hallway approaching my way.“This is gonna be good,” I mumbled to myself singsongingly as I pushed the button on my office phone to alert security before David got to the door.I heard Emma say his name in question but he didn’t respond to her before he barged into my office, “Amy? Really? You went after Amy?” I could see every person from the office looking at us from the hallway now, Emma had a horrified look on her face.I smiled at David, “She’s fun, right?” I scrunched my nose playfully and went back to my emails.“You son of a bitch, she’s my co
I had no idea why he was in such a perky mood today, but I was sleep-deprived and in no mood to take any of his shit today. When he brought me into his office and told me to strip I was about ready to kick him where it would hurt the most, but then he pointed me to a changing screen and I found a beautiful dress there to change into.I did a quick check for any camera’s around the place before I undressed and found none, and the screen was enough that he couldn’t peek through in an attempt to see me naked, which made me feel more comfortable. The gown on the hanger was gorgeous, I had never seen something like this before, and I was eager to try it on, curious who would end up wearing it, who had curves like mine.I took a moment after I had changed and pulled the zipper up to look down and admire the material and overall shape of the gown, it was the prettiest thing I think I had ever worn before.“How’s it going back there?
I couldn’t tell her that the dress was for her, it would scare her off if I told her that she was my muse and that I can’t get her out of my head. She would run for the hills and I wasn’t ready to lose her yet, so I kept my answer short and simple, and as honest as possible.I wasn’t sure how I was going to ever tell her that the dress was hers, and I didn’t have much time to decide because the fundraiser is only a couple of weeks away now, but I wanted it to be a nice surprise.I looked at her from head to toe, she was breathtaking, but there was one thing that was different from my dream. I took a step closer to try to loosen some hair to fall on either side of her face so that she looks almost exactly like my dream, but I heard her heart skip a beat and her breath hitch when I got close to her.She was getting nervous, and I was feeling tempted. My hand was reaching for the top of her head but stopped at her cheek where my knuckl
The time spent with Matthew in the office for the fitting when I was acting like the model for the gown was so surreal. He was a whole other person; he was down to earth, kind, and he is kind of genius when he’s in the zone. I hope I get to see that side of him more, I really enjoyed it.The rest of the day went smoothly, and for once I went home without the unbelievable urge to shower. It was pleasant, and I wondered if it would last. The next morning, I got up and showered, and while I was blow-drying my hair, I was catching up on my emails. There was one email that came in that caught my attention, it was sent late last night, from Matthew to all of his employees, the subject line said: NEW DRESS CODEI opened it immediately and put down the blow-dryer to read it closely.“As of tomorrow, all Greene Design employees are given the freedom to dress however they so choose on a day-to-day basis in the office, so long as employee keeps the look
I wrote the email as I was lying in bed and unable to fall asleep. Ever since the fitting with Emma and the fantasy that was so vivid in my mind, I couldn’t focus on anything else.I tried to work during the day but I had no luck. At one point, I even stared out the window at the New York scape and just stared out for a while. I pulled out a large, square sketchbook and sat next to the window, testing if I still had the knack for drawing landscapes.I sat on the ground since the windows were floor-to-ceiling, there wasn’t any need for a chair, and also, I was more comfortable drawing if the paper was propped up on my knees - it just always felt more comfortable and natural this way.The city was busy, per usual, and noisy, being on the ninth floor is not too high up to escape the sounds of the city, even my apartment can muffle the sounds better. But this was the floor that was available when I was looking to buy and the windows were perfect, so I de
After my day spent as a model for Matthew and his new design, he put me in contact with Isabella to work on some things for the fundraiser. Isabella and I had only known each other over the phone when I was taking messages for Matthew, and today, I finally get to meet her. I was at my desk when a pretty, tall woman with sleek black hair in a high ponytail approached me, “Are you Emma?” She had a beaming smile as she asked me. “Yes, that’s me.” She immediately stuck out her hand for a handshake, “I’m Isabella.” “Oh, hi!” I stood up from my seat and shook her hand, “It’s so nice to finally meet you!” “You too, Emma,” she chuckled. Matthew opened the door to his office and greeted his friend, “You’re always so loud,” he teased her with a grin. Isabella went to give him a hug while he stayed in the doorway. He was right, she was strangely louder than anyone else’s regular speaking voice. “I work with machines, Matthew, if you don’t
I went through my contacts and found a good number of girls that I hooked up with in the past and contacted them to see if they could stop by the office for a few minutes. A significant number agreed, and I told them all different times so that they wouldn’t overlap.Maybe if I kiss enough girls, they will all push the memory of Emma to the back of my mind, or even better, I’ll forget what happened entirely.Since Emma and Isabella are out, this is a perfect time to have the women show up. I don’t like having a lot of people know where I live, but I have no problem with them knowing where I work, and I’m not about to break all of their hearts, I’m just going to tell them that I have a theory that I need help proving.I can’t imagine any of them saying no to me, I mean, come on, I’m young, handsome, successful, an entrepreneur, women would be insane to not want to kiss me.The first of the girls showed up
After the awkward elevator ride with Isabella and David, I decided to ask her what exactly had happened between them. We stopped for lunch at a little deli on the corner of the street and sat by the window. Isabella was beside herself as she remembered what happened. She inhaled deeply, “Long story short, he cheated on me.” My eyebrows formed a frown, “I’m sorry to hear that.” “Yeah… I was blinded by love at that point, he could do no wrong in my eye,” she smiled and shook her head, “he was just such a smooth talker.” In my head, I’m agreeing with her, but on the outside, I am totally oblivious and as far as Isabella is concerned, I never went out with David and I don’t even know who he is. No one knows how she would react if I told her that he took me out and that we had lunch in the cafeteria a couple of times this past week. I liked Isabella, and I hated seeing such a bright spirit being brought down like that. “You just have to be
