Some of the guards who were around ran out of the room very far away from the both of us, trembling in fear of what Valerie had just said. "Have you all suddenly lost your minds? Come on, leave there, and come take her away from here!" I ordered, still panicking at her scary revelation.

"Let her be!" A strange voice sounded from a distance, and everyone turned their gaze to the direction, including Valerie. It turned out to be Mira, and the instant she stepped foot into the room, Valerie began to scream endlessly, holding her ears in between.

"She will be fine," Mira assured and squatted beside her. "I just need everyone to leave here right now, she has always been under this same attack by some witches whom she offended a long time ago."

What was I even supposed to believe right now? Firstly, Valerie had just boldly announced that she was from the witches' clan, while Mira kept insisting that she was only under a spell cast by the witches.

VALERIA'S POVRunning away from my problems was one thing I was good at doing. I didn't mind if it was associated with being cowardly or timid. My father did not want to hear me out and wanted me to train with my enemy.I trust Jack well enough as he wouldn't travel to look for me only to tell a lie. My father wouldn't understand that's why I took the step to running away. Sigil was reluctant at first to concur with my plans but he eventually gave in because of his love for me. It's a good thing to have him around because I'll need extra protection as my enemies are slowly creeping on me.It's been a while since I've had any attacks from Brooke and his mum, although right now they are the least of my problems. Now I need to find out why Uncle Rufus wants me dead, what offense I committed, and why he joining forces with Killian.Killian is in my past and I'll make sure he regrets rejecting me, but I can't help but think how he became acquainted with my uncle to the extent of partnering

SCARLETT'S POVThere has been a little delay to my plan, that wretched Killian had the effrontery to humiliate me in front of his Beta, and sent me packing. My hatred for him has doubled up, to think at a point I wanted him to grow, also expand financially with other neighboring packs and this is how he repays me. "I'll have my revenge on him, that's one thing for sure," I said in my thoughts as I looked out the window of Ann's house situated in the woods not too far from Manor. She's a person I've become acquainted with in the few years of being Killian's mate. "Do come and eat Scarlett, you're being too hard on yourself, Not eating wouldn't make him take you back," Ann said to me as she met my food untouched on the table."I'm fine Ann, I do not have an appetite," I answered with little interest in the argument she was starting. It's all we've been doing since I came here a week ago. Most times I give in and eat a little while sometimes I don't but I'd have to endure her nagging. An

Adolf nodded in agreement, and together we set out into the forest, searching for any sign of Valeria's passage. We combed through the underbrush, calling out her name in hopes that she might hear us and respond. But as the hours passed and the sun dipped lower in the sky, it became increasingly clear that Valeria was nowhere to be found. My heart sank as the realization set in: she was truly gone, and we had no idea where to even begin looking. As dawn broke, my anger boiled within me like a pot ready to overflow. Valeria had just succeeded in fooling us all. I couldn't believe she would be so reckless, so irresponsible. My fists clenched at the thought of her abandoning our plan without a second thought."Adolf," I said, my voice tight with fury. "I can't stay here. I need to go back."Adolf looked at me, concern etched on his face. "Are you sure, my friend? It's not safe to travel alone, especially with Valeria out there somewhere.""I don't care," I snapped. "I need to find her, a

VALERIA'S POVRight after their departure, Sigil turned to me. His eyes beamed with fear.It was obvious that he was frightened by my father's threats. He faced me. "Valeria… we need to talk." My curiosity piqued as those words crept out of his lips."What do we need to talk about? Don't tell me you were moved by all that crap that came out of his lips."My face spelled anger and disappointment. I never saw myself having anything to do with Uncle Rufus, not after I had heard all those rumors about him being against me.No one would also persuade me to do that which I never intended to do. Not even Sigil.I understood he must be troubled by my father's words, but he also had to keep in mind that no matter how threatening his voice was, I would never go against my wish to embark on a mission with Uncle Rufus. He fixed his gaze on my troubled face. "What do you mean? I don't get you." I shot at him."What don't you understand?! Okay, that aside, what do you have in mind concerning the wa

After so much persuasion, I summoned the courage to let the cat out of the bag."My father has made my life a miserable one since I informed him about Uncle Rufus's mischief. He insists that his brother is never known to be as cruel as I classified him.""Oh, I see!..." He folded his arms around his chest and nodded repeatedly."Why does he feel that way though? Does he believe his brother over you, his daughter?""Isn't it obvious? I doubt if he ever listens to me after this. He is bent on trusting his brother against all odds. I'm tired, sincerely tired."I hope Sigil would understand what I meant by that. I needed to be left alone. He was already asking too many questions. He was silent for a while. He finally broke the silence by clearing his throat."I boldly suggest that you leave your father to his fate. He doesn't want to be corrected. He should see things for himself. I suppose that would make him believe you more, trust me on this."He spoke with so much wisdom. This was exa

VALERIA'S POVTo confirm my suspicions, Uncle Rufus suddenly arrived barely an hour after Sigil's departure. He made his way into my father's room. I awaited his next step, and just as I expected, the next place he visited was my room.He stopped by the door and kept knocking endlessly.I ignored him for as long as he kept knocking. Soon, he paused and walked out through the coriander.I perceived he went back to have a word with my father.I heard them conversing in an audible tone as my father accompanied him out of the house."She's probably not around. She must have gone to visit a friend as usual." I was baffled by how quickly he covered up for me even though he knew fully well that I was in my room.Rufus concurred. He gave up waiting and handed an item to my father. The item was wrapped in a brown thick paper. I was watching them quietly through the window.Rufus added when he had accepted the item from him."Give it to her when she returns." He walked out of the packhouse. My
