The alarms still rang sharply in my ears as I sprinted across the courtyard, shifting mid-stride. Warriors escorted the females, young and vulnerable from the vicinity while other Alphas took formation as well. How bold of these lawless beasts to think they could take down a group of Alphas! But then, for it to be this way means we are not just dealing with rogue wolves here. We were targeted; our moves were even predicted.

“Secure the barrier!” someone shouted but I was already on it.

Around me, warriors scrambled into formation just as they returned. Another set guided the Lunas toward the underground shelter carved beneath the main house.
