KERES~

Before resuming my duties for the day, I made sure to fulfil my part of the conditions laid out for the challenge. After the warriors set out for the long journey to Ember’s pack, I returned to the Alpha’s office.

As soon as I entered the large space, a stupidly looking envelope stood out on my desk. My eyes never left it as I settled in my chair, only then did I pick it up.

The letter had a thick parchment, layered with wax, stamped over and over again with the insignias of different packs.

“Bunch of traitorous bastards” I scoffed at the attempt of all the Alphas trying to look unified, and competent yet they couldn’t agree to use a single seal to represent.

I broke it open with my thumb, and my eyes scanned the contents.

•Alpha Leo of Blue Crescent has been found innocent.

After extensive investigations and multiple interrogations, no link was found between him and the kidnappings.

Some Alphas will be returning to their packs but Alpha Leo will remain restricted to his terr

EMBER~The argument had gone on long enough. Before I fully realized, my body had moved, and my hand was already on the hilt of the nearest warrior’s sword. I didn’t hesitate as I hurled the sword straight through the space between the two Alphas. It slammed into the wall with a violent clang, embedding itself deep into the stone between them. The force alone made both men stumble backward in shock, their words dying in their throats. Chairs scraped as loud gasps filled the room and the entire hall froze.Every single gaze snapped to me in silence.I walked over to their seats, my heart pounding with the level of anger I felt, but my spine was straight, and my voice was steady when I spoke.“This is not your land,” I said calmly, letting the weight of my words settle. “And this is not your table to soil with unresolved grudges.”Murmurs rippled through the hall now as the concerned Alphas looked away everywhere but towards me. I continued;“If you have disputes, you will resolve them

KERES~Having heard the horns, I could tell some Alphas were already cherry close to the pack. I intended to get Ember first but then I met her on the way, alongside my grandmother. She looks gorgeous this morning. Looking radiant in her ceremonial attire, it was no doubt picked out by my grandmother. Ember’s draped in a long green silk dress and hair braided to the back with butterfly hair ornaments, I couldn’t take my eyes off her milky face and blush of redness on her cheekbones. The moment we stepped outside the pack gates that morning, I could feel the weight of those eyes, the expectations, and yet again political talks pressing down on my shoulders. The air carried too many scents now because the guests had started arriving.I stood tall anyway. I always did.Grandma Maera was beside me, her presence steady, grounding. Dayatt stood on her other side as well, and we had met her there. She remained composed and elegant as ever, already slipping into the role she played so well w

SHAWN’S POVI had just come back from my late-night run when a guard from theLuna’s house arrived. From the purple badge on his uniform, I could tell that Lady Ember wanted to see me. I stepped back from the door, regulating my breathing.“Luna Ember requests your presence.” the guard informed me plainly. There’s no respect shown, despite being of different ranks, but I couldn't care less.I dismissed the messenger and made my way toward the Luna’s office, schooling my expression into the calm respect expected of me.Inside, Lady Ember stood by the window, the night air brushing against her hair as she studied the tall trees below. She looked composed, and every inch the Luna she was growing into. It was that quiet strength that had pulled me in from the beginning. Not her title as the female Alpha or the wife of any man.“My lady, you asked for me?” I said. She turned, smiling faintly. “Yes. I need you to send a letter home”I blinked. “Home?”“Blue Crescent,” she clarified. “I want

KERES~The market was already bubbling when we walked into it, the narrow paths buzzing with voices, laughter, the clang of metal, and the warm scent of spices and fresh bread. When I heard the wolf traders calling out prices and saw the young pups darting between stalls in loud chatter, I was filled with a great feeling of contentment and joy. Normally, I barely noticed these things because, to me, the market had always been a place of trading supplies, negotiations, and inspections. But today, it felt different. Because it’s actually my first time browsing through for something, not because I was inspecting for duty's sake or walking through while they bowed in reverence for me…that way, I had not truly understood how it works.I slowed my steps unconsciously, my gaze drifting over polished trinkets, carved precious stones, silk scarves, and jewelry laid carefully on velvet cloths. Every stall I passed seemed to whisper the same question in my head.Would she like this?Dayatt walke

EMBER~I noticed there was a question in her eyes she didn’t voice so I proposed to her;“Can we talk?” I asked. “Maybe… grab a coffee downtown?”For a split second, she hesitated then she nodded once. “Alright.”She didn’t ask why and that alone told me she already suspected this wouldn’t be a casual conversation. And she had called to stop me so she seems to be expecting it.The walk out of the pack grounds felt longer than usual. The streets were coming alive now—vendors arranging stalls, the scent of baked bread lingering in the air, the pack members greeting one another as the morning settled into routine. Dayatt walked beside me, hands folded behind her back, her pace even and controlled.I, on the other hand, was a mess of thoughts. It was ironic, really. The last time we had been at that coffee shop together, I had reassured her genuinely that nothing would happen between Keres and me. At the time, I believed it badly enough that I ignored the warning signs already flickering

EMBER~By the time I returned to my quarters, the morning light had already begun to spill gently through the tall windows, bright and scorching, as though the night had never happened. I walked freely up the porch as if I hadn’t crossed a line I never imagined myself standing so close to.I closed the door quietly behind me and leaned my forehead against the cool wood for a brief moment, breathing in, breathing out, grounding myself. My body still remembered him…his warmth, the weight of his presence, and the way his arms had felt like a shelter. Yet there was no ache of regret in my chest, only a strange, tender fear, the kind that comes when something precious begins to form and you don’t know whether your hands are steady enough to hold it.I walked deeper into the room, letting my fingers trail along the familiar furniture. This place had become my refuge since arriving at this pack. It’s neutral, quiet, and safe. I scanned the room carefully…after last night, it now feels somew
