Chapter 2

As I walk into my house it's super quiet ok this is weird I think to myself. Then as I come in to the open floor plan off the entry my mom, dad, and Trent yell happy birthday!

Mom has the living room decorated with a few balloons and streamers.

“Mom my birthday is in two days.”

“I know but with everything going on we wanted to have something with just us so I made your favorite pancakes, bacon, and veggie keish.”

Now I'm excited I love food! Dad can see that I'm hungry now and stops me.

"Wait baby girl presents first."

Mom hands me a bag I pull out silver sparkly flats.

"Mom these are amazing thank you."

Dad is next he hands me a small square box in it is a pair of diamond earrings.

"Oh I love them."

Trent then hands me a box like dad just a little bigger. I open it and find a small bracket it has a K and on each side three little diamonds that match the earrings.

"Trent its beautiful."

I hug all of them and suddenly my stomach growls. We all start laughing.

"Alright let's eat sweetheart then we are going shopping for your dress for this weekend."

"Mom do we have to I honestly don't feel like going to the festival this time."

Dad then speaks up.

" Kate I know you are afraid that you will not find your mate as you have not got your wolf yet but it will be fine. The Moon Goddess just has special plans for you and that why it's taking longer."

I stop eating and look up at dad and from what I can tell he honestly believes that. I sigh

"Dad I think it's time you accept that I have no wolf and will not get one. The Moon Goddess forgot me and it is what it is.”

“No that is not true now you eat and then go shopping with your mom we will all be going together as the Beta family it is one of our responsibility's."

With that I give up and finish my breakfast and get ready to go shopping with mom.

I walk into my room to start getting ready. I head straight to my bathroom and jump in the shower quickly. Once I'm done washing my hair and body I step out wrapping up in a plush towel. I blow dry my hair once it is dry I start brushing my long black hair. It's getting long now I realize it is just above my but and soon I will be sitting on it. I drop the towel before walking out into my room and over to my closet I stop and look in my mirror. Looking at my self I can't help but wonder will someone want me if I'm not a wolf? I have a slim figure my breast are an average B cup. I have smoth olive color skin and a little bubble butt. I look up at my face I have long eyelashes that make my bright blue eyes pop against my black hair. I am pretty, many people have told me I'm beautiful but I just don't know.

I reach in my closet and grab some undies and my bra I go with a pair of light skinny jeans and a half sleeve blush shirt. I go back to the bathroom and put a little mascara on and highlighter on my cheekbones. I decided I will go with I clear lip gloss as I will be trying on dresses and don't want to fuss much. I grab my curler and do loose curls feeling complete I grab my phone and go to find mom.

Mom is talking with Dad in the living room about the festival she gives dad a kiss telling him goodbye. I can see in their eyes how much they love each other and only wish I could have the same. We hop in my truck and we’re off to the mall just outside or packs territory. Sitting in silence mom looks over at me giving me a knowing look.

" Ok tell me what is on your mind I know something is wrong when you said you didn't want to go to the festival. Spring is your favorite time of year and you never miss the party."

"I know Mom but I'm just so scared. What if I never get my wolf? Will I ever be able to have a mate? Will I be able to feel the mate bond? Will he even want me if I don't get my wolf? I just don't know if I can keep hoping that one day she will show up. I feel like I'm just a disappointment to you and dad. I mean he's the Beta with a daughter that has no wolf."

I pull in to a parking spot and look over at mom at this point I just want to cry and become a hermit.

She turns to me and grabs my face softly to make me look at her.

"You my baby girl will never be a disappoint and your father and I love you even if your wolf doesn't show. I hope you find your mate and he will see the amazing and beautiful woman he was blessed with."

All I can do is nod because if I talk I will cry. "Ok now let's go shopping and relax today, this weekend will be busy I may need your help decorating."

"Ok Mom but this time I get to pick the decorations last time it was your turn this time it is mine."

I smile at her and she rolls her eyes at me.

"I told you I ordered pink and green roses I don't know how the flower shop mixed it up and had pink and black."

I giggle as we head into the mall remembering how it looked like a corpse bride theme party with all the black roses. Black? Hum maybe I’ll wear a black dress.
