Brewster spent a little more than twenty minutes in the bathroom before stepping out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

He knew how many he'd lost due to Ace's impatience whenever he was in a terrible mood. So, to make him happy and also to make things faster for both of them, he decided to leave the towel wrapped around him instead.

He walked toward the bed and sat down. His head hung low as he patiently waited for Ace to be done with whatever he was doing.

Ace raised his head at the pleasant scent in the room. The comfortable baby scent filled his nose, elevating his sour mood, and his eyes settled on the source of that comfort.

The young man seemed to be in deep thought. His usual clear eyes were filled with layers of brood, making Ace feel like something was wrong with Brewster.

His lips parted, but he swallowed his words and returned his gaze to his laptop. His fingers moved faster on his keyboard, typing a few words out...

 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓

He sent out the message to his assistant. Then, he continued with his work while ignoring Brewster, who sat patiently at the edge of the bed.

Soon, a low growl filled the room, momentarily distracting Ace. His brows raised, and his lips slowly curled into a smile he never expected.

But the smile disappeared as soon as it came. He glanced at Brewster, "Hungry?" His deep voice rang.

Brewster shivered at the chill. His cheeks turned red from embarrassment as he lowered his head and shifted his butt. He felt like falling into a hole... "I'm... I'm not." He lied.

Seeing the adverse reaction of the little star, Ace rolled his eyes, his mood dampened, and he glared at him. "Are you hungry?" He asked again.

Brewster could notice the anger in the tone, and his heart lurched. He slowly raised his head, his beautiful eyes filled with unshed tears, "Yes." He replied. His voice was as low as it could be.

Ace finally let out a barely audible sigh and picked up his phone. He dialed a line and placed the phone to his ear. "Prepare..." He paused and looked at the little star. He raised a questioning brow.

Brewster understood the gaze. "Anything is fine." His voice came out weak.

"Prepare a delicious dinner for..." Ace's voice trailed off again. He realized he had no idea what the little star's name was. "Prepare something nice in 10." He concluded and ended the call.

He dropped the phone and slowly stood up from the bed. "The food will soon be done." He said to Brewster as his feet touched the ground.

The cold ground made his expression crumble for a split second, but he soon regained his composure as he put on his slippers. "Hang on." He cheered Brewster on awkwardly and strode toward the bathroom.

Brewster stared at the broad and excellent back. A figure flashed in his mind, but though it was a few seconds, he felt his heart race slightly.

Ace might have thought he didn't notice, but he actually saw the concern in Ace's eyes when his stomach grumbled and he also heard the awkwardness in his tone when he tried to assure him that the food would soon be ready.

Brewster knew Ace was someone at the top of the food chain. Someone fully eligible to receive the bows of many, but no one would dare to receive his. A dragon among men...

But this same dragon cared about him?

Brewster felt like he was ridiculous to think so much about a flicker of affection from Ace, but he couldn't help it. Ace... that man was someone who was able to affect his mood.

Brewster waited patiently, but Ace never left the bathroom. He wondered if the man was too embarrassed to face him after the awkward moment earlier. However, he soon heard a knock on the door.

His gaze shifted from the bathroom to the door, and he stood up. He walked toward the door and opened it, only to see a man in a suit pushing forward a food cart.

He bowed slightly and pushed it into the room. Within a few minutes, he arranged the neatly prepared meals on the table and bowed again before leaving the room.

The aroma of the food filled the air, and Brewster's stomach grumbled even more.

His steps stopped, hesitating on what to do. Ace hadn't left the bathroom, and the food was already served. Was he supposed to eat first?

He pressed his lips into a thin line and slowly returned to the bed to wait for him.

Brewster's butt had just touched the bed when the bathroom door opened and Ace walked in with half-wet hair, and with him came a refreshing scent that stunned Brewster.

Ace's gaze fell on Brewster and his brows twitched. "Why ain't you eating?" He asked deeply. Was Brewster no longer hungry? Or was the food not up to his taste?

Ace thought of calling his people to change the food as quickly as possible... but a soft voice interrupted him, and his brows furrowed, "You were waiting for me?" He felt like he had heard wrong.

Brewster nodded.

Ace's expression softened considerably but he looked away instantly. "Eat. I'm not joining." He muttered.

Brewster couldn't believe his ears. He staggered toward the door and opened it wide to see his parents standing at the entrance. The two stared at each other with warm smiles on their faces and conversed happily.Brewster pinched his neck harshly, trying to see if this was one of his numerous dreams about his parents, but only the pain was felt. The scene remained the same. Brewster opened his mouth to talk, but only a whimper escaped his lips as tears rolled down his face. He opened his arms and hugged the couple outside the door. The two were slightly surprised at the sudden weight, but how could they not know it was their son? They opened their arms and hugged him tightly, steadying him and protecting him from falling back. Jim watched the family of three for a while, and he nodded with red eyes. He was really happy for Brewster. At least, the departure of Ace wouldn't sadden him too much, right? He suddenly felt the urge to call his lover, too...Brewster and his family hug

  • ASHES OF INNOCENCE   CHAPTER 50: FAMILY

Brewster stayed in the hospital for two weeks. Jim came over several times to convince him to return to the company, but after hearing the little man's explanation, Jim no longer had a word to say. It was his biggest wish for Brewster to escape Ace's clutch, and if this was the only way, then he would support it. "I'm also planning to resign." He told Brewster. Brewster raised a brow, shocked at his brother Jimmy's words. "Didn't you tell me your lover is the chairman of our industry? Why do you want to resign?" He couldn't understand. Jim smiled and shook his head. "If it isn't you, then I don't want to be anyone's agent, Brewster. Now that you no longer want to return, I also don't want to return." He said. "We will work together and pay back all the money you owed Mr Ace. After that, we can pursue your singing talent. Or even better, we can start pursuing your singing talent now." Though he didn't have much trust in Brewster's singing talent, he was still very interested in he

Brewster, who hadn't seen his mother in more than four months, had to compose himself as he entered his mother's ward. But to his surprise, his mother was no longer there. His heart trembled as he rushed out of the room and made his way to the doctor's office. He knocked on the door and was soon permitted to step in. "Brewster," the doctor called kindly when he saw Brewster. Brewster panted as he held the door. "Doctor, where's my mum?" He asked, breathing hard. The doctor pushed up his glasses and stood up. He poured a cup of water, which he handed over to Brewster. "Your mother is fine. She went out with her doctor for a seminar." He explained. Brewster took a step back in shock. His mother went to a seminar? A seminar?"How could..." "The surgery has been done, and it was successful." The doctor interrupted. Brewster's eyes widened. His lips parted into a round O. The doctor saw his expression and chuckled. "Mr Ace invited a lot of specialists to take care of your mother

  • ASHES OF INNOCENCE   CHAPTER 48: BREAK UP

"What did you say?" Brewster asked in a low voice. He couldn't believe his ears, and for some reason, he didn't want to believe it. His heart raced really fast. It was so fast that it ached terribly, and he felt like screaming his lungs out. Ace's expression was grave as he looked at the young man in front of him. His chest felt uncomfortable for some reason. Ace pinched his brows, feeling conflicted within him, which confused him a lot. But he still opened his mouth to repeat his words. "I've found Ian." He mumbled in a low voice. Honestly, he had no idea why he was telling the little star this. He had even lesser idea why he felt so terrible within him. Ian had been the person he'd been searching for for a few years, and this had even caused him countless sleepless nights, giving him both headaches and heartaches. So, why wasn't he feeling the expected happiness when he found the young man again? He was supposed to stay with Ian in the hospital today as the man had an accide

  • ASHES OF INNOCENCE   CHAPTER 47: CLARITY

Jim's lips twitched. With the smile on Brewster's face, he could tell the young man had already done something toward the direction of being a singer even before he asked any questions. He helplessly nodded his head. Though, he had no idea if Brewster truly had a talent for singing or not. Anyway, Brewster was still so young, and it was only right for him to have a bit of fun. Especially when he wasn't yet popular. Everything he did before fame could be swept under the rug when he became popular. Jim made a decision. Brewster was overjoyed. He cheered in the car, and subsequently, the remaining distance to the castle was breached. Jim and Brewster were driven to the main castle where Brewster's things were packed with the help of the guards. Jim escorted Brewster into his room, but his expression showed his urgency as he looked around with no intention of sitting. "What's it, brother Jimmy?" Brewster asked, feeling curious about what made Jim look so impatient. Jim rubbed hi
