Chapter 7

After the judge's declaration earlier, Joseph and Helly didn't dare to question the validity of the memories. Instead, they turned on each other, each trying to shirk responsibility.

"You have to believe me, Quin! This was never what I wanted! I never meant to hurt you! It's true!" Joseph was panicking now. He abruptly pointed at Helly and shouted, "It was her! It was all her idea! I just got swept up in the moment!"

Helly stared at Joseph, who was in front of her in disbelief. She couldn't understand how the man who had held her and promised her eternal love just the day before could turn on her so quickly. She glared at Joseph. "You're full of crap, Joseph! Are you seriously going to stand there and say none of this was your idea? Go ahead, I dare you to repeat that in front of the judge!"
