Knight Darkmoon and I stared at each other for a few moments. I was lost for words at that moment. I’d snuffed out my fated mate, something girl’s dreamed of. But it was the same asshole that had sent his minion to come propose to me in my own home. The same asshole who I was being forced to marry so my uncle wouldn’t lose our pack. A pack that wasn’t even his.
“Hello?”
I shook my head out of the clouds and brought my focus back to the man in front of me. His dark eyebrow was arched high enough that it almost disappeared into his fringe. I blinked a few times at him.
“What?” I whispered.
“Gods, mate,” Knight snorted a laugh. “You’re screwed here if you keep getting lost in your own thoughts.”
“It’s a bit different than my home,” I mumbled. “Just trying to get used to it.”
“Noted,” Knight mused. There was a hint of judgement in his tone. I could tell he was over my bullshit and we’d just barely met.
He sized me up, eyes drifting over me. I wondered if he could see through the potion I’d taken, I wondered if he felt the same pang of a fated mate bond that I did. I wondered if he saw the lining of my chest bindings through my thin shirt. I swallowed thickly and Knight brought his eyes back to mine.
“What’s your name, first year?”
“Ethan,” I said quickly. “Ethan Blueheart.”
“Blueheart?” Knight asked. His lips curved into a smirk. “I am to wed your cousin.”
“Are you?” I snapped. “I don’t remember you in my home asking my cousin for her hand.”
The look on Knight’s face changed immediately. His smirk dropped into a scowl. His eyes went wide and angry. He licked the front of his teeth. He took a menacing step towards me.
“I don’t remember you being the person who I had to ask,” he growled.
I swallowed thickly. I couldn’t believe my uncle wanted me to marry this asshole. I puffed my chest out to make myself look bigger than I was.
“It is tradition to ask all the men in the house,” I hissed.
“Watch your tone, first-year,” Darkmoon snapped. All aspects of friendship were gone. I’d officially made my first enemy.
Well, Ethan had.
Then, his face dropped again. He schooled it back into a smirk before clapping me on the shoulder. The force and the intense lust that surged through my was enough that I had to bite my lip to stifle a whimper. Knight seemed unphased. He shook my shoulder.
“Brother,” he said. “I won’t go easy on you because of your cousin. But, I’ll help you out when I can.”
He slapped me on the shoulder once more before shoving me off towards the crowd that had gathered outside the auditorium. Then, he winked at me.
“Show them the strength of the Blueheart pack, mate,”
I stared blankly back at him before nodding. I trekked off towards the other men in the group. I was, by far, the shortest of the bunch. Though I’d been one of the tallest girls in my grade school class, here I was the shortest one by a few inches. I tried to puff my chest out more to look wider than I was and wound up looking like I was a balloon waiting to be popped.
A few of the men next to me gave me uneasy looks. Then, an older man with white hair stepped up in front of all of us and blew his whistle. The sound made my ears burn and I cringed in response.
“Quit your yapping!” The man yelled. So much for a warm welcome. He settled his hands on his hips. “I am Major Moonfire. I will be your sparring and physical combat professor.” He paced back and forth in front of us as he continued to speak.
“You may have passed the entrance exam to Alpha Academy,” he said. “But there is still another test for you to gain the respect of your peers here.”
I frowned. I hadn’t taken any exam. Maybe Ethan had taken it for me? But then what was I missing in terms of knowledge?
“You will fight one of our third years,” Major said. “The outcome of the fight will see how you place in our ranks. The pairs have been predetermined, as is the order.”
My heart thudded in my chest. Ethan was right, I was a good warrior. But I’d been fighting women for the last nineteen years. Male Alphas were a completely different species. Plus, some of these alphas had been training with experts for years.
“Now the first pair,” Major said. “Is Knight Darkmoon and Ethan Blueheart.”
My stomach dropped to my toes. The whispers and looks started up besides me. Clearly, word of my engagement to Knight had been passed across the packs. I stood up straight and marched forward.
Knight came out from behind the group and stood in front of me. The sick smirk was still on his face. That bastard knew. He knew we’d be fighting one another. Anger surged through me. I took my fighting stance and squared off with Knight.
“No shifting,” Major started. “Begin!”
Knight lunged at me and I immediately threw up my hands to block him. He tackled me to the floor and I landed with a thud. I immediately arm barred his throat and jammed an elbow into his ribs. Knight grunted in pain but kept me pinned to the ground. I yanked my head out from his grasp and used it to scramble up to my feet.
Knight smirked at me as he curled back up onto his feet. He had almost a foot on me, towering over me in a menacing way. I threw a few punches his way. Some of them landed but they were absorbed by the massive entity that was Knight Darkmoon.
My final punch, Knight caught. He twisted my arm back in a way that made me cry out in pain. I twisted under him and tried to force him back. He grunted in pain but then he yanked me once more. I turned into the punch then looked at him. We locked eyes for a moment, one that lasted long enough that I thought Knight finally could see through the potion and know who I was.
Then, he slammed his head into mine and I blacked out.
I came back to myself from the darkness to a pounding in my head. I groaned in pain, unsure of who or what or where I was. Then, I felt hands grabbing at my chest. Immediately, my eyes flew open. I grabbed the hand that was going for the top button of my shirt and turned towards the person attached to it.
Knight Darkmoon stared down at me with his yellow gold eyes.
“What a dickwad that guy is!” Sophia exclaimed as we made it back to my dorm room. Luckily for us, Knight was still missing from his bed. It gave us the entire room to scheme about how we’d make it through the night.“He’s awful,” Ethan agreed. He turned to me. “You weren’t kidding.”I scoffed. “Nope,” I said. “He’s had it out for me since day one.”“It’s odd,” Ethan mused. “The Highmoon pack is very close to the Darkmoon pack. I would’ve expected Badger to be far more inviting than he’s being.”“It’s not like Darkmoon’s been exactly inviting either,” I mumbled.“He invited himself to touch your junk,” Sophia said. Ethan gave me a pointed looked. I looked back at Sophia. She shrugged.“I filled Ethan in on the way,”“I can’t believe you made him touch your manhood,” Ethan grumbled. “Now there’s really going to be rumors about me.”“I don’t think so,” I said with a shake of my head. “Knight was pretty distressed by the whole thing as well. He apologized to me last night in the showers.
KnightHe kept his eyes facing forwards the entire time he was in the shower. Knight had already pressed his luck with Ethan and wasn’t trying to do it again. He’d felt all he needed to know about Ethan’s gender. But there was that smell again…Knight bit down hard on his tongue to keep the slight moan from escaping his lips. Lust had washed over him in an unnatural way, surging at the tips of his fingers. He felt a knot tightening in the space just below his navel..Don’t look, don’t look, he repeated in his head. The situation was becoming increasingly uncomfortable, again. The wolf within him was screaming that this was Knight’s fated mate. Yet, Knight knew that to be untrue. He didn’t think he’d be able to contain himself around Ethan at other points of the day if they were mates. So why in the shower? Why then?Knight really wanted to just chalk it up to his attraction and confusion about Ethan. Ethan was stunningly beautiful to Knight. He really still wondered if Ethan could be
RileyKnight’s hand was still on my – well, Ethan’s penis – as I finally caught my breath. We were still locked eye-to-eye and hand to … cock.Knight swallowed thickly. He gently moved his hand back from my crotch and shoved it in his back pocket. He sighed before turning around and removing his gaze from mine.I immediately was relieved and thanked the Gods above for having Ethan send me the fake penis. I’d immediately shoved it in my trousers as soon as I stopped feeling weird about it and, somehow, it had wound up saving me.His back was to me as he rubbed his jaw. He looked genuinely distressed. I sighed deeply and ran a hand through my hair.“No,” I said, softly. “No, I’m not.”“I can tell,” Knight choked out.His voice was certainly strained, though I couldn’t tell why. He rummaged through one of the drawers in his desk then turned back to me. In his hand was a beautiful, black pendant. It was much like the one he left on his nightstand every night. But this one was even more be
“Do you think I should get her something?” Knight asked me as we returned to our room.“For tomorrow?” I asked.“Yeah,” Knight nodded. “I figured it would be nice. If you want to come with me, I’d appreciate the help in knowing what she likes.”“Yeah, course” I nodded. It wasn’t like I had anything else to do. And who better to pick out gifts for me than well… me?“Alright then mate,” Knight clapped his hand on my shoulder. I fought to keep from shuddering as the electricity surged through me. Knight was unphased. “Grab your wallet and we’ll head into town.”I nodded and pushed into our room to grab my stuff. Thirty minutes later Knight and I arrived in the small town next to the school. It was quaint but had an air of aristocracy about it. The first shop Knight led me into had a bunch of flowers.Knight slowly walked through the flowers before landing on a bunch of black roses that had an accompanying box of dark chocolates. I immediately wrinkled my nose at the thought of the bitter
Knight gave me a once over before he closed the door to our room behind him and walked further in. He nodded at me once before going to his desk and dropping his bag. I was entirely confused and my heart was beating rapidly as I tried to figure out if he could sense that I was not Ethan but his future fiancé.“So how familiar are you with Alpha Blueheart’s daughter?” Knight mused, still messing about on his desk.“Alpha Blueheart doesn’t have a daughter,” I said quickly. Ethan had no sisters.“Apologies,” Knight said, standing to look at me. He wore a smirk on his lips and had a slightly raised eyebrow. “The former Alpha Blueheart.”My father.Knight was asking about me. Again.“Oh,” I said softly. “Riley? My cousin?”“Yes, your cousin,” Knight went on before rummaging through his desk. He looked over his shoulder slightly then focused back on his desk before speaking.“Apparently you look quite alike,”“Our fathers were twins,” I said.It wasn’t a lie per say, but it wasn’t the whole
I stared at the penis blankly. How was this supposed to help me!?Was I supposed to use it…for pleasure? I shuddered and dropped the thing back in the box. Ethan and I didn’t discuss those types of things much, if at all. I couldn’t figure out why he’d even think I’d want that. Then, I remembered the locker room. All of the men were walking around with members very similar to the one sitting in the box in front of me. It hit me that I was supposed to use the giant fake penis as a surrogate for the one I should have.I scrambled across my room and pulled out my potion that I had been using to masculinize myself more. I dropped a bit of it on the fake penis and watched as the member turned incredibly lifelike. I gasped and slammed the top of the box shut, scared of what I was seeing.“Ethan, you smart man,” I breathed to myself.A while later, I walked into the dining hall for breakfast. It seemed as though my attack on Knight had spread across the school like wildfire. All of the Alpha
