It was day three, and Alana felt a sense of relief wash over her as she realized she was healing faster than expected. Alana sat at the table with Sylas, watching as he served her a hearty meal. "You're healing well," he said, his eyes inspecting her face. "The wounds are closing up nicely."

Alana nodded, taking a bite of the food. "Thanks to you," she said, trying to sound grateful.

Sylas smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm just glad.”

Alana took another bite, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. She knew she couldn't out smart him he had learned she was trying to escape.

"So, we'll be leaving for Shadowbrook by 3 o'clock," Sylas said, glancing at his watch. "I have an errand to run before we leave. You can stay here and rest. I'll be back soon."

Melany's hands trembled slightly as she prepared Alana's meal. She was still the maid in charge of her, which would make the entire process easier. her heart racing with every move. She glanced around the kitchen, ensuring she was alone, before carefully pouring the contents of the vial into Alana's food and drink. Despite the liquid being colorless , it seemed to glisten in the light, and surprisingly it was it was odorless too. and Melany's mind echoed with the voice from the phone, the threat to her sister's safety looming over her like a shadow. She felt a bead of sweat trickle down her forehead as she struggled to maintain her composure. With a deep breath, she arranged the dishes on a tray, trying to focus on the task at hand. The clinking of utensils against the plate seemed amplified in the silence of the kitchen. She made her way to the table where Alana sat, her expression neutral as she set the food and drink in front of her."Here you go," Melany said, trying to sound

Kayden's boots pounded the forest floor as he stormed away, his wolf Xander growling in frustration inside him. The mate bond between him and Alana pulsed with tension, like a raw nerve exposed to the air. Kayden's anger and hurt simmered just below the surface, fueled by the images of Alana with Braxton."Can you at least make me understand why you’re defending her?" Kayden snarled, his voice low and menacing. "After everything she did? You think she's innocent?"“ Of course I do,” Xander replied, his voice firm and unwavering.“ I feel it in my bones, Kayden. She's telling the truth.”Kayden's face twisted in anguish, his mind torn apart by conflicting emotions. Part of him, a small but insistent voice, urged him to listen to Alana, to believe her pleas of innocence. But the images, the evidence, and the betrayal he felt all pointed to her guilt."You're just blinded by the mate bond," Kayden spat, his anger boiling over. "It’s the one making you not think straight. It’s all a lie ,

“ I swear Alpha, " she said, her voice steady and detached. "I knew nothing about her whereabouts. And that's the truth." Alana's eyes widened in shock, feeling a pang of betrayal. "Melany, please," she begged, her voice cracking. "Tell him the truth. You were there. You saw what happened. He tried to force himself on me…. The rogue attack.”But Melany's expression remained impassive, her voice firm. "I'm sorry, Alana. I don't know what you're talking about." The words cut deep, and Alana felt a wave of despair wash over her. She had trusted Melany, she was the only way Kayden would learn the truth. But now, it seemed like Melany was against her too. Just then, Kayden’s father stepped into the clearing, his expression stern.Zayne and Zaide followed closely behind him, their faces somber. Alana's heart leapt with hope as she saw them, and she quickly moved towards her in law , kneeling at his feet. "Please, Alpha," she begged, her voice shaking. "You know me. You know I'd never bet

Alana's body ached terribly.Every muscle felt sore, and her head was pounding. Her wolf, Trixx, whimpered quietly in the back of her mind, weak and unsettled. "I'm sorry... I couldn't protect us..." Alana didn't answer. She couldn't. Her throat was dry, and her chest felt heavy.“I'm sorry too,”Trixx whispered, her voice barely audible. “I should have been stronger.”Slowly, Alana opened her eyes, scanning her surroundings. The ceiling above her was wooden, Old, but clean. She shifted slightly, ignoring the sting that ran up her side. The bed beneath her was soft, layered with thick furs. A fire burned low in the corner, casting a soft glow across the room. She sat up carefully, wincing. This wasn’t the Reed estate nor duskwood pack. This wasn’t any place she recognized. The scent in the air was… familiar, in vet a comforting way. She looked around. A chair sat beside the bed. A shelf on the wall held jars and books. Someone had patched up her wounds. But where was she?“ Trixx?” Ala

Melany was dragged into the woods by a rogue, her screams muffled as she struggled to break free. She watched in horror as Alana was attacked, she cried for help echoing through the forest. Melany yelled and kicked, but the rogue's grip only tightened. It pulled her away from where Alana was , deeper into the trees, the canopy overhead growing thicker, blocking out any light. Finally, the rogue stopped in a small clearing, standing over Melany with its eyes fixed on her. But instead of attacking, it simply stood there for a moment before turning and running away, vanishing into the underbrush. Melany lay there, stunned and shaken, wondering why she had been spared. Without a second though , she ran through the woods, her chest tight and her hands shaking uncontrollably . The rogues had come out of nowhere. She had watched Alana fall. She had wanted to go back. She had tried. But the fear had taken over, and her body had moved on its own. She didn’t even know which direction she wa
