His words resounded in my soul over and over again. It felt like a beautiful melody that someone was playing to captivate me and move me closer to the rhythm of their soul.

My heart skipped. Was this the moment that everything would work out? The moment that everything would somehow fall into place? Was this the moment that I have been waiting for years?

Somehow I had fooled myself into believing that everything I wanted was far from my reach, somehow I had made myself to believe that I never wanted this man back but I knew that was a lie and when he spoke those words that came out of his mouth, all I longed for him to do was call my name and run to me.

No matter how much I had convinced myself that if he ever came near, I would push him aside, I knew I was not going to do it. I knew I was going to stay and I knew I was going to work out everything with him.

But at that moment, my legs somehow felt too numb to move and so I just stood still and as my throat went completely dry and

By the end of the day, I was more than positive that I have completely ruined her life. Everything had happened exactly how I wanted it to and I knew that I finally had her right in the palms of my hands, exactly where I wanted her to be. I walked around with a grin on my face, I could no longer keep my poker face. Finally everything I wanted was coming to me and I was finally getting rid of the person who has stubbornly wanted to be an obstacle to my happiness. There was no way she could escape now even if she wanted to. I was finally going to destroy her. I went home early, wanting to get as much rest as I possibly could get in order to fully ready for the day ahead of me. After all, it was going to be a day filled with so much joy and happiness. I sat by my window looking out and imagining the kind of life that I would now live with Amara when I finally got rid of Ivy. I knew that Amara would also need some convincing and it may not be so easy to get through to her but I was wil

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER EIGHTY TWO: THE GAME BEGINS

I could barely sleep that night and when morning came, I didnt struggle to get out of bed. I was too eager for the day to begin that I even woke up before the sun did. Today was the day that I would finally put an end to the madness that was Ivy. She has tormented me for too long and now, I was finally going to be able to peel myself off her grip. Now I had what it took to look her in the eyes and get rid of her for good. I didnt need no alarms to wake me up. It was a good day after all, all I needed was my instincts and they did a very good job at it. They came with filling force and developed into the kind of instincts that settles in your bones when betrayal has carved out every part of you that once felt safe. Everything in the house came to a stand still, even the air was still. The strange part was that it felt peaceful, like the calm right before the hurricane hits and tears the roof off your life. Still, it was an atmosphere that we hadnt experienced in my house hold for a

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE: WHAT'S MINE

"Mark, are you still with me?" I asked when I didnt seem to get any response from him. He didnt answer immediately but I could tell that he was thinking deeply about something. Before I could call him again, he spoke out. "Yes, I am still with you sir. I am just wondering. Are you trying to say that those papers may have been forged?" "I am not trying to say anything, I am saying it with full confidence, those divorce papers were forged. How could I have signed them in consent if I was still recovery and how could the lady in question have signed it if she was miles away from me and everything that looked like my family. Those papers were forged.""Wow, I cant imagine why your mother would do something like that. I mean, its just so evil and a mother should not do that." "Well my mother is not exactly the definition of a proper queen. But thats not why I called. I want those papers to be pulled. What I want right now is for that same name, Amara’s name to be reinstated as my legal

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER EIGHTY: PHONE CALLS

"Sir, are you sure?" Blake asked, it was normal for him to be a little bit afraid but I knew exactly what I wanted and I was not going to waste any more time in getting it. These people could not really be trusted, they could be very slick and if they managed to get out of my grip, I would never forgive myself again. So yes, it was time. "Yes, Blake. I am sure, I need you to meep your eyes on both of them at all times. My mother and Ivy, I need to know what they are doing at all times of the day. Do you understand?""Yes sir. You want me to do a 24/7 full tracking."I nodded. "Thats exactly what I want. I want to know who they talk to, what they buy, what they hide, I want every secret and every lie." “You got it, boss. One more thing—your mom’s been moving money into offshore accounts. Ivy too.”I was not even surprised. I knew they would be doing something shady. It was only a matter of time before someone caught up to them and I had prepared myself to be that person. Something e

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE: BREAKFAST

The meal looked burnt and not properly cooked but I knew I could not say much about it. I took one bite and confirmed my suspicions, the eggs were rubbery and the toast was burnt at its edges but still, I chewed and swallowed. I did all of it with a smile cause I knew that is exactly what they expected me to do: sit down, smile and pretend like I didnt know the truth. Pretend like I didn’t want to break open their heads and feed them to the wolves. But I played the role that they wanted me to play and I sat still and pretended like they had not ripped my life apart. "See?” Ivy said cheerfully, looking at my mother. “He’s feeling better already.”“Of course he is,” my mother replied, folding the newspaper. “He just needed time to come to his senses.”“Men are like that,” Ivy continued, like I wasn’t sitting right there. “They throw tantrums when they don’t get their way, but they always come back.”“Especially when they know what’s good for them,” my mother added, sipping her tea.I

  • The Forgotten Bride   CHAPTER SEVENTY EIGHT: SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT.

Liam’s POVThey had invited me for breakfast and I could not say no. I could not allow them to get the idea that I was going behind their back to do anything that could piss them off. I needed them to believe that I was on their side, and so I dressed up like I was going to work and moved to the dinning room. The dinning room smelled so much like vanilla and eggs. I looked around and saw a spread on the table. Apparently, Ivy had taken her time to set the table like we were this happy couple from a magazine. From the way she paid attention to details that I could swear she believed I loved, I knew that she was very determined to prove to me that she could be that lovely wife. What I didnt understand was why she was trying. She had already blackmailed me and gotten me to believe that I had no idea what I was doing and she knew better, so why was she now looking forward to this. Why did she put so much effort into it? I didnt have time to respond because almost immediately, my eyes d
