Selena
I wince at the dark undertone in his words. At first, I think Kane suggests I do something, but the smirk spreading across his lips makes him look like he just challenged me.
My knees buckle, but I pretend his words don't affect me. I'm scared to bits, but I refuse to avert my gaze.
"What the Hell is that supposed to mean?" I hiss.
Kane chuckles and closes his eyes. "It's such a shame to hear such a horrible word pass your lips." My eyes widen at his statement. What's happening? Why is Kane acting like this?
"You know what, I'm not in the mood to play your games, Kane. Or should I call you Onyx? If I do, will you show me a little respect,
Kane"Let me go, you savage!" Selena hammers her fists against my back with all her might. The sound of my palm hitting her ass echoes off the walls as she yelps in surprise. "Did you?""I did. Keep fighting; I'll be happy to do it again, just say the magic word." The anger I felt fades, and all I feel is amusement."Caveman," Selena mutters under her breath.I lift my hand and force it against her ass again, enjoying the blissful hiss that leaves her lips.I bet Selena's as confused as never. All the hate she feels for me, and now- the apartment is filled with the scent of her arousal.
Selena I follow Kane downstairs. He walks with his head held high, and I wish I had the same confidence he has. Yet, all I do is try to hide behind his back. Kane pulls me to the bar and lifts me onto the stool like I weigh nothing. He leans over the bar and gestures to a woman to come toward him. Immediately, a wide grin appears on her lips, and I already don't like her. Perhaps for a reason because as soon as her eyes set on me, her face twists in disgust. "Sam, can you help me out a little?" Kane asks her. "Sure thing, boss, what's up?"
KaneI carry Selena into the apartment, lay her on the bed, and cover her with a blanket. I don't say anything; she's too shocked to listen or speak. But I can't blame her after everything that happened downstairs. As if it wasn't enough that someone tried to take her away, I killed the bastard in front of her. Perhaps I overreacted, but he had it coming. No one lays a hand on my mate without consequences.I lock the apartment for her safety and head downstairs.Onyx whimpers in the back of my mind, obviously just as worried as I am. "She's safe, buddy." I try to put his mind at ease.
KaneSam wraps her hand around my wrist and pushes my hand away from her neck. "I've loved you since the first time we met. I've spent countless sleepless nights dreaming of this moment. I was afraid it would never happen, especially after you claimed that human at the ceremony. But I didn't lose hope." She tries to move closer, but everything about her disgusts me. "I'm ready to give myself to you. Accept me, mark me, and make me yours. I promise I'll be a perfect mate. Better than your wildest dreams." Desperation resonates in her voice.I force my hand back on her neck and squeeze it tighter. "Is that so?" Each word leaves my lips like a hateful hiss.I want to break Sam beyond repair. I want to scar her heart and soul before I kill this bitch.
SelenaRunning away from that bar was perhaps my worst decision. It seemed like a good idea at first, but now, I know I was safer in that damn place. My heart pounds with fear, my sides burn, but I keep running. I don't notice the branch in front of me catching in my hair and nearly knocking me off my feet. But I don't give up; I free myself and keep running.I'm sure Kane will follow me, and when he does, I won't outrun him. All I can do is take advantage of a head start.A twig snaps to my left. Instead of running, I stop in my tracks. He found me."Kane?" I call out. Only when I do that, do I realize how stupid I am. I'm alone, lost in the da
Luna Kane is close, but he's heading in the opposite direction. Unless the human tells him something, no one will find out I was here. I don't stop until I get out of the woods and reach the clearing. I'm late this time, but I'm sure she's waiting for me. My gaze scans the surroundings, and I instantly hiss under my breath. She had to do only one thing, and she still failed. Typical fucking human. After a few minutes, the black car finally parks near me. I open the door and jump into the passenger seat. "Do you have any idea what kind of trouble I'd get into if you were any later than you already are?" I growl at her as she's about to drive off. The human has the gall to roll
KaneThere are so many things I want to say to Selena. I want to point out my worries, explain my feelings and let her know everything going on in my mind. Selena needs to know that nothing happened in that office. I didn't cheat on her, and I never intended to.But I can't, because as if this whole mess wasn't enough, my annoying step-sister had to show up too."Beatrice," I roll my eyes as I groan out her name. "Not that it surprises me, but you always find the perfect moments to invade my privacy."It's not that our relationship is bad, I love her like my own sister, but Beatrice just took away the opportunity. Yet, as soon as I look at Selena, a slight smile spreads across my lips. She watches
KaneOur conversation ended as soon as we stepped out of the forest. Onyx and I agreed that we had already told Beatrice too much, so the silence was necessary. She leaves when we reach the bar; even Beatrice understands that Selena needs more sleep. Onyx backs up and lets me take full control of my body. God damn, finally. As I carry Selena into the bar, the noise dies down, and everyone looks at us. I nod at them, and all the shifters leave the bar without a word. A wise decision, to cherish their fucking lives.I head upstairs, and it's not until I enter the apartment that I relax. Now Selena is where she needs to be, and she'll be safe as long as I'm around.
