(Patricia’s POV)

I sat quietly in the back seat, staring out through the tinted window. The city passed by in a blur as we drove toward the office. It had been days since my last encounter with the Bedfords, and just as I expected, they called to accept my terms.

They agreed to sell the house along with everything inside it. I handed the entire purchase process over to James to handle because I was busy at the moment.

The deadline for the major construction project was approaching fast, and we were pushing hard to complete it before the due date. Thankfully, all the issues raised earlier by the contractors had been resolved.

The project ended up costing more money and resources than we initially planned because of those challenges. Still, we were determined to deliver top-quality work that met Smithfield’s standards. Delaying the project was not an option... not even for a single day. That wasn’t how we operated.

My driver’s phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. His brows tighten

  • The Forsaken Wife's Empire   Chapter 127: The Visit That Killed Him

(Patricia’s POV)I had been walking around the hospital grounds for almost an hour now. This was where everything began. The hospital where I was treated, and where I met the late Mr. Smith. My heart felt heavy, my mind crowded with countless thoughts. I wondered what my life would have been like if I hadn’t met him that morning... if he hadn’t handed his properties over to me.I wouldn’t have been able to avenge my child’s death. I wouldn’t have had the resources to take everything the Bedfords owned.I had promised him I would take care of his properties. But now his nephew had appeared, ready to take over. Should I quietly hand everything over to him? I had already taken my revenge. There was nothing left that I needed power for.Would Mr. Smith finally be at peace knowing the company was now in the hands of his own blood? Maybe if Alonso had shown interest back then, Mr. Smith would have handed everything to him himself.“Mrs. Addison?” a voice called out, sounding uncertain.I sw

(Patricia’s POV) “With all due respect, Mrs. Addison,” he said calmly, “I think it’s time you step down.” I swallowed hard. I had already expected those words. So hearing him say them didn’t shock me. But I had promised Mr. Smith to take care of everything he left behind. Did these shareholders really think they could force me to abandon his legacy? “Don’t be ridiculous, Thomas,” one of the oldest shareholders snapped. “She was legally appointed by Smith himself" “That may be true,” Thomas replied, “but if she’s no longer capable, should we turn a blind eye and let our future be destroyed?” “Thomas is right,” another shareholder agreed. “We can’t allow this to continue. It could ruin us in the long run.” The room filled with murmurs. Some shareholders supported the idea, while others strongly opposed it. “But if she steps down now, who will take over the company?” a woman asked. “We all know there’s no successor after her.” “And who says there isn’t?” Thomas replied. “Have you

(Patricia’s POV) “I know this is a difficult time, but always remember... you are the president of this company,” James said quietly as we walked toward the meeting hall. Just as expected, the shareholders had called for an emergency meeting that evening. They were furious about the ongoing scandal. Not just them... almost everyone was. Still, I had remained calm through the storm. Raymond had told me to stay calm. >> “Everything will be fine, honey. I will make sure of it.” Those were his exact words. He had made me promise not to let the accident break me. “You may have equal rights with the shareholders under the company’s rules,” James continued, his voice steady and reassuring, “but your authority is greater. Don’t let them intimidate you in there.” I swallowed hard and nodded. My eyes drifted to the meeting hall doors, fully aware of what was waiting for me behind them. Since becoming the president of Smithfield, I had faced many challenges. But I had never felt pressure

(Patricia’s POV)I walked into the tent with the chief police officer, my heart pounding as I waited for the update. The officer glanced at James, who was standing behind me, with suspicion, clearly wondering if he should be present.“It’s okay, officer. You can tell me,” I said gently.I knew this was a sensitive case and not something to be discussed carelessly, but James was family. He deserved to hear it too.The police officer nodded and finally relaxed a little. He placed a sheet of paper on the desk... most likely a list of the workers.“According to the site supervisor, about 70 labourers signed in this morning,” he said.I swallowed hard. 70 labourers were on site when the building collapsed? The number itself wasn’t unusual. We had handled projects with even more workers before. But this was different. It meant 70 innocent people had been exposed to serious danger.“When the collapse happened, 29 of them were lucky enough to run out in time,” the officer continued calmly. “T

  • The Forsaken Wife's Empire   Chapter 122: They Came Begging

(Patricia’s POV) We were all ready to leave for the fun park. Julie’s little hand was tightly holding mine as we stepped out of the house. Her face was glowing with excitement. I was excited too. Raymond was taking us out for a family outing. The moment the driver saw us walking toward the car, he hurried forward, ready to open the door and drive us. “Don’t worry,” Raymond said calmly, stopping him. “I’ll drive my family to the park myself.” A warm smile spread across my lips when I heard that. I always loved it when Raymond drove us. There was something attractive about him behind the wheel. “Drive safely, sir,” the driver said respectfully as he stepped aside and handed the keys to Raymond. Julie climbed into the car and settled comfortably in the back seat. Raymond then opened the front passenger door for me. I smiled at his gentlemanly gesture and murmured a soft, “Thank you.” He was always like this... consistent. He always opened the door for me and made sure I was settl
