Chapter Fifty Seven

Aria's POV

After a few quiet minutes by the lake, Jason stood up and extended his hand to me.

"Ready?" He asked.

"Okay," I said as I took his hand and we got back into the car. Outside, the air was a little crisp and just enough to turn my breath into faint clouds.

The windows were fogged slightly, and when he turned on the heater, a soft warmth filled the air.

"Okay," I said, attempting to start a conversation. "If that wasn't the date, then where are we going now?"

His lips tugged up at one corner. "You'll see."

I groaned, although his confidence made me smile and stop complaining.

All I had to do was trust Jason. And trust that he would make it worthwhile.

And I leaned my head against the window, watching as the snowy streets blurred past.

There was the glow of streetlights against the pale frost and it looked absolutely beautiful.

After a while of driving, the buildings began to thin, slowly replaced by woods coated in white.
