Aria's POV

Funeral week, day one.

I had never been to a funeral and just today, or perhaps this whole week, I'd skip school and have to actually attend a funeral.

I'd have to watch my mum get buried. And I'd have to watch too many relatives talk, cry, laugh and pry.

Yeah, my mum's two sisters and their kids. My mum's older sister, Aunt Genevieve had two daughters. Nineteen-year-old Layla and three-year-old Maya.

Aunt number two was Aunt Clara and she was the mother to Brandon and Brayden.

Then there was Aunt Kira, my dad's youngest sister and her pregnant belly.

Uncle Stefan, my dad's younger brother who didn't even bother coming with his kids. Some excuse about how they had some final exams to write and how they'd be here for the actual funeral.

Then last but not least was my favourite Aunt Linda. She wasn't a sibling to either of my parents but it couldn't change the fact that I was closer to her than I was to any of my other aunts.

She was married to Dad's older brother and she

Aria's POVI didn't realise we were already at Lily's. Her door was slightly ajar as she poked her head out while planting a weird wide smile on her face."Is this Matt's sister?" She glanced at me, then at Elisa who was now surprisingly quiet."Yeah, she's the one. Her name is Elisa. Elisa, meet Lily." I introduced and Lily stuck her hand out for a handshake. Elisa glanced at me, and when she made to take her hand, Lily pulled her in and hugged her.I laughed, and so did Elisa. "The handshake is pretty formal considering we stay next door and you are about my height. And you like a boy and you're not even sure that he likes you back... we do have a lot in common already." Lily grinned after the hug."You like someone?" Elisa asked as I entered and shut the door behind me."Sure. His name is Aiden, and he's pretty cute, and I don't know if he likes me back." Lily chuckled as she led us up the stairs to her room. "Well, have you talked to him?" Elisa probed.Lily's lips twitched. "Yo

Aria's POV"No you do not.""Yes, I do. Happened to be at the library today and you two weren't very subtle in your actions and conversations."My cheeks reddened as I remembered what we'd done. The kiss... Who else saw us?"You saw all that?" "Yeah, I did. I'm not gonna tell anyone though."I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding since Matt had said that he knew about my relationship with Jason."You'd do that?" I asked then I sighed. "What's the catch?" Because I couldn't believe that there was no catch. If he knew about us, and he was ready to keep it a secret, he wanted something in return."There is no catch. I just want you not to hate me and talk to my sister. She appears happy on the outside but I see her cry in her room whenever it's late. She and my mum used to have these late-night conversations, and I'm so sure she misses that. I would do them for her if I even knew what they talked about. I never did join." "I'm staying at Lily's tonight. Do you think she c

Aria's POV"Oh." Lily glanced at the ceiling. Then at the lights. "Oh." She said again."Are you gonna talk to me and not 'oh' at me?" "Are you gonna make out with your boyfriend and let one thing lead to another?" She retorted with a slight snort. Her reply made me annoyed. "I want to know that I'm ready." I tried to make her understand "I didn't know that I was ready." She shrugged."Lily, this is not a joke. I can't just sleep with him because he's cute.""Then do it because he's your boyfriend. It's just sex!""It's not just sex to me. It's gonna be my first time. Don't you understand? I'm not like you, who's had it all the time, okay? I came here because you are my best friend and I trust you and now... you're just making me really miss my mum." Tears rolled down my face, and Lily stared at me, now quiet."Today sucks, okay. And it sucks even more, because of you." "Ari..." She reached for my hands, an almost apologetic look on her face."No, don't. Please." I didn't let her t

Aria's POVIt's much easier to notice how everything comes to a still. How the cold air is hitting the glass of the car and how I'm breathing too fast with the silence that follows Jason's confession. We've been staring at each other, his own eyes wide because... yeah. He did say something stupid. And I refuse to believe that he just said what he said. Let's not even talk about whether he actually slept with Dary. I'm far too broken tonight to be broken all over again. Instinctively, my hands touched the door of the car and I shut my eyes."You've been having sex with her?" I almost could not recognise that squeak as my voice. "Shit. No. I haven't!" Jason cursed as he hit the steering wheel in frustration. Anger? I didn't know what to make of the emotion on his face."B...but you just said so! You've been sleeping with your ex-girlfriend because I won't let you touch me?"He shook his head. "Aria, no. I have not...""Or maybe it's just because you missed her you couldn't stay away.

Aria's POV"Who said anything about sex?" Jason's amusement was long gone by now. I folded my arms, watching his every reaction. To be honest, I really wanted to know if he meant what he said. He had to be honest with me."Did you mean it or not?" I asked. He twisted the pen in his hand, then ran a hand through his hair and looked at me. "No, I did not."I didn't believe him. But when he smiled and winked, it was hard not to. "That was just me joking around, okay?" He smiled again and I nodded, totally believing his words. "Alright, I'll just finish up these." He said and he looked down at the paper, focusing his attention on the questions. This was good right? He didn't mean what he said. We were gonna be okay. Jason would find a way to make sure his family would be okay with us being together and then we'd be public.I heaved a sigh of relief and smiled. He was staring at me when I turned. I walked and sat at the table, in the chair opposite his."What?" I placed my chin in my

Aria's POV"She's just a kid.""I don't care." I almost yelled.Jason tilted his head, watching me with one of his many looks. And when I raised my brow at him, he shook his head. "You're staring at me with your weird look." I pointed at him with a finger. He smiled. "What? I don't have a weird look.""Yes, you do. And your weird look is different from your 'you look good, I want to kiss you look."Jason leaned back on the chair and laughed while I stopped pacing around, just to stare."Sunshine, the girl did nothing to you." "I know, I know. Don't make me feel bad. All I'm saying is that Matt doesn't have the right to ask favours. He did me dirty. He hurt me." "And he apologised." "And his apology wasn't accepted." Jason looked down at the questions I'd given him, he tapped on the desk and looked up at me. "You are better than holding on to grudges, okay? If that girl can't get through losing her mum, I'm confident that you can help her. Because that is what you do. You help peo
