Aurora stood at the edge of the playground, the sound of children’s laughter filling the air.

She was here to enjoy with her son and mother, and yet she still can’t forget the events of last night.

She had seen Lucian again. And base of his reaction, he was as shock as her. She barely slept because of it.

Aurora watched her son, Loyd, as he ran with the other children, his face lit up with pure joy. His small legs pumped furiously as he chased after a red ball, his laughter ringing out every time he got close but missed.

Seeing him happy should have made her feel the same — and it did, to some extent. But there was still that heavy ache in her chest, one she couldn’t quite shake.

“Hey, babe! I’m so sorry I couldn’t join you two. I’ll make it up to you next time, I promise!” Rebecca’s voice came through the phone, warm and familiar.Aurora smiled. “It’s okay, Rebecca. You can visit him anytime.”Rebecca had called that afternoon to apologize for missing their day at Star City. Now, Aurora was getting ready for the party she was attending that night.Fresh out of the shower, Aurora sat in front of her vanity while the hair and makeup team she’d hired worked on her. She held her phone to her ear, listening to Rebecca rant as the stylist carefully curled her hair and applied soft, natural makeup.“That’s what’s so annoying!” Rebecca grumbled. “My dad forced me t

Every time she glanced around the room, her eyes would inevitably meet Lucian’s.The intensity of his gaze pinned her in place, and regret bloomed inside her — regret that she had come to this event at all."Still okay?" Martin’s gentle voice broke into her thoughts.Aurora turned to him, forcing a smile. "Yes. Don’t mind me."But Martin wasn’t convinced. He sighed quietly, his sharp eyes having long noticed the way Lucian’s attention never strayed from them."It’s him, isn’t it? Your ex-husband?"Aurora froze, the words like a cold

Aurora hurried toward the parking lot, her sobs breaking through the night’s stillness. She couldn’t believe her own reaction to what Lucian had done.He kissed her.And what made her even more furious — with herself — was that she had liked it.Something inside her had ignited the moment his arms wrapped around her, the second their lips met. It was as if she’d been transported back to a time when she hadn’t yet known about his betrayal. Back when she’d believed in him. Back when she’d loved him.God, she was so stupid. Why was she still letting him affect her like this? After everything he had done, after all the pain, how could he still have this kind of hold on her?

Aurora spent the morning distracting herself with plans for her son.It was easier that way — easier than thinking about Lucian’s words, his touch, the way he had looked at her like she was the only thing that mattered in the world. She pushed all of that aside and focused on something far more important: Loyd’s future. She had been putting it off for a while, unsure if she was ready for her little boy to take this next step. But after everything that had happened, she knew she needed to give him as much normalcy as possible — something stable and safe. And that’s why she found herself filling out forms and speaking with teachers at one of the most prestigious kindergartens in the city.

Aurora’s breath came in shallow gasps as she scanned the restaurant, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might shatter.“Loyd!” she called again, her voice higher, tighter, laced with growing fear. She moved between the tables, her eyes darting from the entrance to the hallway leading to the restrooms, searching for any sign of him.Nothing.Panic swelled inside her, threatening to consume her whole. She turned sharply, nearly colliding with a waiter carrying a tray of drinks.“Miss? Are you okay?” the young man asked, startled.“My son,” Aurora choked out, gripping his arm without thinking. “He went to the restroom, but he’s not there. Have you seen a little boy? Dark hair, blue eyes—four years old?”The waiter hesitated, his brows furrowing. “I—I don’t think so, ma’am. But I can check with the staff—”Before he could finish, a deep voice cut through the chaos of her thoughts.“Aurora?”She spun around to see Lucian standing just a few feet away, his sharp eyes narrowing with

Aurora’s heels clicked against the pavement as she hurried outside the restaurant, her breath coming in uneven gasps. Her mind was a swirling mess of panic, fear, and desperate hope.“Loyd!” she called, her voice sharp with urgency as she scanned the street. The midday sun beat down on the busy sidewalk, casting long shadows from the people walking by—none of them her son.Lucian was right beside her, his strides purposeful, his eyes already sweeping the area with calculated precision. He wasn’t panicking. He never did. It infuriated her how calm he could be in a moment like this, but right now, she didn’t care. She just needed him to help her find Loyd.“He couldn’t have gone f

Aurora's heart pounded as the car raced down the winding roads, city lights blurring like streaks of color. The GPS tracker embedded in Loyd's necklace had led them to a secluded warehouse district at the far edges of the city. The place was eerily quiet—the only sounds were the engine’s hum and the occasional rustle of wind brushing against the trees.“We’re close,” Aurora said, her eyes locked on the blinking dot on her phone screen. “Just a few more meters.”Lucian nodded, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. “We need to be cautious. Lester won’t make this easy.”When they reached the area, Lucian parked the car at a safe distance, concealed behind a row of abandoned trucks. The cold night air greeted them as they stepped out. Aurora pulled her coat tighter around herself, her gaze sweeping across the shadowy surroundings.“This is it,” she whispered. “Loyd is inside.”Lucian placed a steady hand on her shoulder. “We’ll get him back. Together.”They moved in silence, slipping

Aurora couldn’t stay still inside the car. Every passing minute put Loyd in even greater danger.“What’s taking them so long?” she muttered, her frustration mounting. She grabbed her phone and connected to Red.In an instant, Red’s emoji face popped up on the screen and greeted her. “Master! What can I do for you?”“Red, can you connect to any CCTV cameras in my location right now?”Red’s emoji face blinked for a moment. “I’m sorry, Master. But your location is abandoned. I can’t detect any internet connection or existing systems I can hack into.”Aurora’s shoulders slumped in disappointment. “How about a phone signal?”Red went quiet again. A few seconds later, an error message appeared on the screen. “There is a phone signal inside, but… they’re using old models. I can’t access them.”“Damn it! What’s taking them so long?” she snapped, slamming her hand on the steering wheel. Then Red’s voice spoke again—this time with something more urgent. “But… Loyd is not inside, Master.”A

Aurora could barely breathe as they drove to the location Lester had sent them. She still couldn't believe that Lucian had no idea about his brother. After all these years, he'd managed to hide—and now he chose to reappear.“There!” Aurora pointed at the abandoned building in the distance.Lucian immediately pulled the car over, stopping just far enough from the structure. She was about to get out, but Lucian quickly held her back.“What are you doing?” Aurora asked, confused.Lucian took a deep breath.“Don’t rush in, Aurora. We need to plan this out. I’m sure Lester’s not alone in there.”Aurora’s brows furrowed.“Lucian, he took my son. Our son. I’ll face whatever danger’s waiting in there. So if you’re scared, you can turn back now.”“That’s not what I meant, Aurora. I’m saying we have to be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to either you or Loyd. We won’t be able to save him if we just charge in blindly.”Aurora paused, taken aback. Her fear and desperation for her child

Aurora barely had time to think as she rushed through the grand hallway, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. Every second felt like an eternity, and every breath was filled with a sense of urgency. Loyd was out there, somewhere, trapped in the hands of a man she had thought was long dead.Lester Aldric. The name sent a shiver down her spine. She had spent the last few hours wrestling with the shock of it, but there was no time for hesitation now. If what Red had found was true, then Lester was alive, and he was the one behind her son’s kidnapping. She clutched her phone tightly in her hand as she stormed toward the front door. She was going to end this. But just as she reached the entrance, the heavy doors swung open, and Lucian stepped inside.Aurora’s breath hitched.Lucian was dressed in a sharp black suit, his tie loosened slightly as though he had rushed here. His golden eyes immediately locked onto her, dark with intensity. The moment he saw her standing there,

Aurora hadn’t slept for hours. The weight of the situation had turned her mind into a whirlwind of thoughts, none of them bringing any comfort. The room felt suffocating, the silence deafening. It was the kind of silence that screamed for answers—answers that she still didn’t have. She sat in front of her laptop, staring at the screen as Red’s interface blinked at her, its cheerful emoji face betraying the severity of the situation.“Find him, Red. Find Loyd,” she whispered, her voice hoarse from the strain of the past 24 hours. Her hands moved across the keys, the same commands over and over again. Every search, every trace led to a dead end. Loyd’s whereabouts were still a mystery. The police were still investigating, but they had no leads. No clues. The frustration gnawed at her like a beast trying to break free from its cage.Every second felt like an eternity. Every thought was a question. Where is my son?Her mind wandered to the last time she’d held him, kissed his forehead, t

The room was filled with police officers, their radios buzzing, their voices low but urgent as they coordinated the search for Loyd. But it wasn’t fast enough.Nothing was fast enough. Her baby was missing. Her heart pounded erratically in her chest, her breathing uneven.Loyd.Where was he? Was he scared? Was he crying for her?The thought made her stomach churn. She forced herself to stay strong. She couldn’t afford to fall apart—not now.Taking a shaky breath, she pressed the call button.Lucian picked up on the first ring.“Aurora,” he said, his voice sharp, controlled—but she could hear the underlying panic.“It’s Loyd,” she choked out.“I know.”There was silence for a brief moment. For days, Aurora had refused to speak to Lucian. She had seen his messages, the calls he left unanswered, but she ignored them all.It wasn’t that she had decided to cancel the wedding. No, she still wanted to marry him. But she needed time to think. The past still hurt.Because of Don Ramon, she lost her father. Because of him, their family had nearly lost everything. And worst of all, her mother had suffered the most.
