I really thought Kael was going to get shot.

"No!" I screamed, loud enough to startle myself. My heart was racing so fast it felt like it was trying to tear through my chest. Panic gripped me so hard I couldn’t breathe. For a second, everything froze. I was sure the bullet would hit him. It all happened so fast.
