Syria’s POV

But just before I could fully walk away from him, I froze. His words stopped me cold.

“You need to live strongly, no matter what happens in your life. And whatever happens to you… I hope you find the courage to face it. I know you're a strong woman. I know you're capable of many things.”

It felt like an arrow had been shot straight through my chest. Those words hit something deep inside me, and for a moment, I couldn’t move. I turned around to look at him again. That’s when I saw him.

He was holding back his tears.

And just like that, something cracked inside me. The pain was sharp. I couldn’t breathe properly. My chest tightened. I bit down hard on my bottom lip to stop myself from breaking down. Every part of me wanted to run to him.

To hug him tightly, to hold him like it was the last time, and to whisper in his ear that maybe… maybe he should just marry me. That maybe we should forget everything and just be together.
