MISSY POV

"Go after him," Hank says in a low voice as I stare open-mouthed at the door that Boyd just stomped through.

"What? Why did he leave like that? Is he mad," I ask before it dawns on me that I just said I would be staying in Davidson no matter what.

Boyd and I didn't declare ourselves to each other last night, but I felt the connection. I felt his walls come down. He gave a part of himself to me, and then I undersold what happened between us to calm Larry down.

"Shit, yeah okay," I say before I snatch the truck keys out of Larry's hand.

I grab my boots and run from the room.

I don't know how our relationship will unfold, but I do know I don't want it to end after one night. Maybe we could make a long-distance thing work for a while. We could see if we are actually good together, past just the physical, then I could talk to him about joining Davidson. I know a wolf's allegiance is rarely broken and I am not his mate. His inner animal will feel more connected to his home tha

  • The Gray Ranch   Heart

MIKE POV My phone chimes again and I stop bouncing my son just long enough to slide the annoying piece of technology out of my pocket. I need to silence it because Parker just drifted off to sleep ten minutes ago and I refuse to spend another three hours standing here bouncing him.For some reason, my son only falls asleep fast when his mother puts him to bed, but with me, it takes hours. I unlock the home screen so I can silence my phone only to get distracted by what made it chime in the first place.Stan- You might want to check on Boyd.Stan- Something is up with him.. He said he is coming home and his phone is going to voicemail.Stan- Mike, Boyd might be in trouble. I smirk as I read the last text.Boyd's in trouble all right, but it isn't the kind of trouble we have come to expect.Mike- Relax. He is having lady problems that's all. Now stop texting me, because if you wake up Parker I am kicking your human ass. I send the text, mute my phone, and throw it in the rockin

  • The Gray Ranch   Future?

BOYD POV"We would like to go to bed now," someone says as loud knocks wake me from a deep sleep. "Shit! Shit! Get up. It's Larry and Hank. We fell asleep," Missy says as she scrambles from the bed and begins to pull on her discarded clothes. I sit up, still a little groggy, and follow her lead with a tired smirk on my face. I see no reason to rush. I'm not embarrassed by what we did. I am happy and satisfied, but I understand her panic. She is a human and these are her packmates. She is their boss within their pack. She probably thinks sleeping with me while they are traveling for pack business looks bad, but shifters can find their mates at any moment. We know sex can happen and we aren't shy about our packmates knowing about it. "Calm down. It will be okay," I say as I pull on my jeans. She shoots me a "are-you-crazy," kind of look and I chuckle. I pick up what's left of my shirt and smile. I don't care about it getting destroyed. I would rip all my shirts if it means I

  • The Gray Ranch   Happiness

MISSY POV I gasp as burning desire passes over my skin again. Everywhere that Boyd touches feels as if he is lighting my skin on fire. His big, rough hands against my flesh are absolute heaven, and I can't seem to catch my breath. "Beautiful," Boyd practically growls and I literally shiver with happiness before smiling at him. I can clearly see that his eyes are a blaze with desire for me as he looks over my body, but hearing him say it is so reassuring. "I wish I could see," I whisper and his eyes snap to mine before he rips his shirt from his body as if it were made of paper. "Whatever you desire, Missy. It is yours," he says in a gravely voice before his hand slides up my stomach to palm my breast again. A loud moan breaks past my lips and he smirks before kissing me. I reach for his pants and undo the button, but just before I can push down his zipper, his lips break from mine, and he hisses in pain. He leans away from me and tucks his injured arm back against his body

  • The Gray Ranch   Apology

BOYD POV"Shit," I say as I drive down the road. As soon as I shut the door and reversed the truck I wanted to turn around. I wanted to instantly apologize to her for assuming I knew anything about her life and feelings, but here I am driving through Oklahoma with a broken arm and nowhere to go. "Shit," I say again before pulling off into a grocery store parking lot. I park and lean my head back against the headrest. How did the day go so wrong so fast? It started out so good. I even had plans to ask her to have dinner with me tonight. Now I can't even see us holding a friendly conversation again before we part ways for good. "Fuck," I mumble before leaning over so I can use my good arm. I pull out my phone and call Mike. He has always been the person I talk stuff out with and I need him now."Wasn't expected to hear from you until you were heading back. Did something happen?" Mike says after the third ring, and I close my eyes as I think about everything that has happened. "Yes

  • The Gray Ranch   Hard Truths

MISSY POV"Are you sure you are okay," I ask again as I follow behind. The two men in front of me are walking fast, and it is hard to keep up, which would normally piss me off, but my heart is feeling like it is being pinched, so I can't focus on being annoyed. Hank glances at Boyd again almost urging him to respond to me with more than one word, but Boyd ignores him. He grunts out, "I'm fine", and my cheeks begin to feel hot. I don't know why his brush-offs are hurting my feelings, but they are. I remember every moment from last night, and while I did embarrass myself, he didn't seem to be uninterested either. So why is he acting like I am some annoying girl who won't leave him alone? He practically has me racing after him on a gravel road.I trail my eyes over his body and a wave of longing fills me. It's as if he has is a magnet and I am a piece of slutty metal. I want to touch him again. I want him to look at me and grin as if he doesn't have a care in the world. I want him to a
