LOGINOh no. No, no, no, no.
I glance over at Asher to see him in the same position he has been in this whole time, except now he has a small smirk playing on his annoyingly perfect face.
What a pompous jerk.
There was no way I was going to let him win and see me embarrass myself in front of the whole class. The way he confidently sat back in his chair clearly showed that he didn't believe I could come up with anything. That I would just stand there with nothing to say in front of the class.
No. That's exactly what he wanted,
So, that's exactly what he wouldn't get.
I stand up with shaky hands and wipe them on my sweater, trying to calm my racing heart.
Squaring back my shoulders and lifting my chin up, I totally wing it last second. "Hello. I'm introducing Asher Lester, his favorite color is hot pink, his favorite show is My Little Pony. He takes ballet, and enjoys dancing alone in his room when nobody is watching. His favorite thing to do is bake snickerdoodles, while rocking out to Justin Bieber."
I announce this "information on Asher" loud and clear making the whole class erupt into laughter.
I sit back down in my chair with a satisfied grin on my face, making a point to look at Asher as smugly as I can.
Pride ripples through me. That outta show him.
I sneak a peek over at Asher to see he's staring at me. Anger, annoyance, and amusement all show on his face at once, it only fuels my confidence.
I give him my best impression of his smirk.
After a moment Mr. Ampler clears his throat, quieting down all of my classmates and says
"Okay, thank you Miss Hibbler for that rather....interesting introduction. Asher Lester, it's your turn to introduce Piper" he instructs and sits back down in his chair.
I fold my arms and look over at Asher with a raised eyebrow.
I'm pretty sure of myself. Pretty sure that he can't top that.
He looks right back at me and slowly stands up, his eyes never leaving mine.
With full confidence he turns to look at the class and speaks with just as much confidence if not more "Actually, I'm not sure how to introduce Piper. All she kept talking about was coming over to her house tonight so we can "really explore each other's interests"..."
My whole body tenses up and I just sit there staring at Asher with bewildered eyes, my mouth hanging low enough to touch the floor, my heart races a million miles a minute and my cheeks are flaring with embarrassment.
Did he seriously just say that?! Well, maybe he could top what I had said after all...
Asher turns around slightly to give me a very annoying smirk, a smirk that I imagine resembles mine almost perfectly.
I feel like dying as the whole class erupts in laughter.
I slowly slink down in my chair and hide my face as best I can with my hair.
After what feels like a thousand years,
Mr. Ampler covers his mouth with his hand for a second. Is it just me or did I just see Mr Ample trying to hide his chuckle? After another moment of him conveniently hiding his mouth, he finally speaks "alright class, settle down! Mr. Lester and Miss Hibbler, I'll see you after class."
*************
Mr. Ampler begins by clearing his throat. "Piper, Asher. I'm very disappointed in you two. I was willing to look past the obviously fake introduction of Asher." he pauses to give me a hard look.
"But your introduction was unacceptable Asher. I don't find it amusing when my students embarrass each other, especially so inappropriately. Since you two are going to be working together for this whole year, you're going to have to get along. So, you both are going to have an extra project together. One I feel will bond you two closer. I haven't yet figured out what that project will be, but I'll let you know when I have."
Seriously? Now I had to work with this jerk again? As if It wasn't torture enough having to be his partner all year.
"Yes sir." I politely agree.
"Thank you. You're excused." Mr. Ampler says simply with a nod. "And Asher, Piper?" He adds. "Yes, sir?" I question. "Don't ever think about doing anything like that in my class again. From here on out you two will learn to act like the adults you are and treat each other with respect and at least civilized manner. Understood?"
Asher simply stands there with crossed arms and says nothing. I nod my head but don't speak. I've never ever gotten in any sort of trouble with a teacher before this. It's all stupid Asher's fault.
As we're walking out the door, Asher mutters "this is bull." under his breath, the annoyance in his voice audible.
"Yeah well it's all your fault." I snap.
Asher looks up at me with an expression of both annoyance and shock.
"Mine? You started it when you made me sound gay!" He exclaimed.
"What? Scared you'll lose all the ladies?" I snark sarcastically.
He scoffs "we all know that's not possible." He brags with a scowl.
"Ugh you're so full of yourself." I retort, stomping past him making sure he sees the glare I send his way.
"You would be too if you looked like this." he yells after me
I roll my eyes but say nothing in response, because it's annoyingly true. Why does he get to be so cute, and such a jerk? Ugh.
Today, Brandon is back to normal. When he first saw me, he just watched me with a nervous look on his face. I wasn't really paying attention, though I was focused on thinking about what to do about Lyra and Asher. Suddenly, he was on my lips, kissing me happily though I was trying to focus on kissing him back, but I'm not going to lie, my mind was on Asher and Lyra the whole time.School goes by as normal, but I swear I wasn't paying attention in any of my classes, not even on my math test which means I totally failed. Ofcourse, I always get low grades on math tests anyway. I hate math, there is not a single thing in math I like. I mean in first, second, and third grade I was at the top of my class every single year in math, but then fourth grade came, and we started learning about prime numbers, and factors, and geometry formulas, and perimeters and areas and all of that crazy confusing junk. And since then it's only gotten more confusing. I seriously hate math. Anyways, after I tota
I woke the next morning feeling like I hadn't gotten much sleep at all because I woke up so many times throughout the night from nightmares of Asher/Valtor. I moan as I get out of bed. Thankful this is Friday so it's the last day of school for a whole weekend. I rub my eyes and yawn. I literally feel like I have only gotten two hours of sleep if that much. I roll over trying to push Lyra but end up falling face down on her mint-colored carpet. What the-I somehow find the strength to open my eyes and look up at the bed to see that Lyra isn't there. I look around the room, she isn't there. I look in the bathroom, and she isn't there. She must be downstairs.I trudge into the bathroom and splash my face with water. Relishing the feeling of cold water on my sweaty face. Then I brush my teeth using my toothbrush and toothpaste. Lyra and I are at each other's house so much that we leave an extra toothbrush and toothpaste at each other's house, along with a shaver, brush, and an extra outfit
Yes"No" I tell him.He watches me for a moment then rolls his eyes. "Bull." He states. "you wanna know why I brought you out here, disappeared, pranked you, then laughed at you?" He asks.I already know why.I gulp. When I don't answer Asher continues "I did all of this as payback" he states.I squint my eyes up at him "what are you talking about payback?" I ask. Payback for what? "You don't think I saw you following me after school yesterday? You're the worst spy in the history of spies. I had to tell Kry that we were being watched so that we could go into his soundproof house and talk without you eavesdropping. So I purposefully looked around suspiciously so that you would think something's up and follow me-of course you fell into my trap perfectly. Then I led you far out here making enough turns for you to lose track. Then I...uh...went away so that you couldn't see me and would get lost. After that all I had to do was throw a few pebbles, run past your window, snap a twig, and kn
After school I'm about to get in my car and drive home to search some more stuff up when I see Asher looking around suspiciously before getting on his motorcycle. I finally decide that I can look up more information later and that I should take this chance to see the real Asher secretively. So I wait a few minutes after he drives off to follow him.I make sure he doesn't see me as I follow him by letting four cars in between us, until he turns onto a dirt road that nobody else turns on. I stay a good long distance behind him, so far back that I can barely see him at all. We take too many turns for me to keep track of. It's been fifteen minutes and still there's been nothing but trees, dirt, and more trees. He takes a sudden right turn, when I make the same turn, its straight road with no turns up ahead as far as I can see yet I don't see Asher anywhere.I zoom faster down the road thinking he must have sped up, but I start freaking out when I don't see him anywhere, I've already passe
I pull into the school parking lot with Lyra this time. We walk into the school. As soon as Lyra sees Asher, she flips her hair and fixes her clothes around, she's wearing a loose black crop top with "Don't hate me cause I'm beautiful" written in bold pink letters, super tight black pants, and black booties with little pink bows on the side. She did her make up to perfection and made sure she wore a little bit of lipstick so that she would leave her mark on him. (another thing she always does) "do I look good?" Lyra asks. A sick feeling is tumbling around in my stomach "yeah" I smile "you look amazing" I tell her, and that's the truth, she looks even more beautiful than usual.I watch with a sick-to-my-stomach feeling as she sashay's up to Asher, he says something and she does that head tilted backwards laugh, the one that always seems to get the guys, for what reason, I don't know. She presses her finger up against him, pushing him up against the locker, than she leans forward and gi
After school I decide to follow Asher. He drives fast on his motorcycle so I have to go past the speed limit to keep up with him. He turns down an alleyway and I follow. After a few minutes of going down a straight road, he pulls off to a rundown house. I park a good one-minute walk away to make sure he doesn't see my car. I jog over there as quietly as I can. When I see Asher quickly hide behind a bush. Asher does a rhythmic knock on the door of the junky house, a few moments later a buff guy walks out. "Well?" The guy-who's voice surprisingly high-says expectantly. Asher nods. The guy starts to say something but stops himself when Asher whispers something. The guy takes a cautious look around and then waves Asher in. They both get inside and shut the door. I crouch down low and walk up the window. I peek inside to see the guy and Asher having a heated conversation, though I can't hear what they're saying. Wide gestures are made; I can tell they're yelling but they're doing it at the
