CHAPTER 5

Flynn on the other hand after Jace had gone out of the room quickly sprang into action, he was searching for clues that would tell him more about this mysterious stranger in front of him, the coincidence was just too much. He checked all the drawers but it either seemed to contain rows and rows of condom or it was locked. Was this man a nymphomaniac?

“What was I expecting? A folder with a big heading saying ‘SECRETS’! I can mean to be so gullible sometimes!” Flynn said to himself after realizing his pointless actions.

He had to get out of there. Looking around the somewhat too large hospital ward, Flynn felt as empty as the room looked. Sighing at his misfortune, he decided to give up on his search as it wouldn’t profit him at all. If only he had looked inside the bathroom. Oh well! His loss!

Dragging his sore body to the window, Flynn stood and looked outside the glasses wondering if life was just like them. He saw a pair of children playing what seemed like charades with their sick grandma, a husband supporting his pregnant wife to the maternity ward and a son seated at a bench with his mother.

Flynn had never felt more useless! He could have been there for his mother but his stupid obsession for capturing XD got the better of him.

“And now, she is gone. Moved on to the afterlife. Mother, are you there? I miss you a lot. I’m sorry that I was a useless son and that I led you to your death.” He spoke to the nothingness, with tears glistening at the corner of his eyes. As if making up his mind, Flynn opened a window and got ready to jump. It was at this moment that XD entered and saw him about to tumble to his doom. He jumped towards him and yanked him away from there towards him.

“Leave me alone, leave me alone!! Let me jump and meet my mother. It is my fault that she was led to her grave. Just let me die!” he yelled as he threw his arms around, flailing them around so that he could loosen XD’s grip on him. XD felt the grief roll off of Flynn. Maybe it was on impulse or he simply wanted to shut him up. Really, XD didn’t know why he did it. He hugged Flynn and tried to calm him down, slowly patting his back.

“Shuuuush, don’t worry. I’m sure your mother can forgive you wherever she is. She is looking down on you right now and praying that you live your life to the fullest and overcoming the grief the you’re feeling right now.” XD whispered into his ears as they slowly knelt before the window, painting such a scene that would put even the highly budgeted romance movies to shame. Flynn kept on struggling but he was no match for XD as he was all beefed up. Compared to all the muscle, Flynn was like a chicken! Slowly, Flynn stopped all his movement and just continued sobbing slowly.

Due to the commotion, Xander came back into the room only to be welcomed by that scene. He secretly took a picture which, unbeknownst to him, will become a very powerful tool for him in the future, but that it is for the future.

Due to his heightened ears, XD had heard Xander enter the room, but due to the shutter being off, he didn’t realize that a picture that he would come to cherish in the near future was taken by his dear friend. Signaling Xander, XD had him drop some sleeping pills into a glass of water as he sated Flynn down who was still sobbing pitifully. Xander quickly sprang to action and dropped some of the medicine from an injection directly into a glass without paying attention to the amount and handed the glass to XD.

XD, on receiving the glass, tried to make Flynn drink from it but he simply couldn’t as Flynn was too caught up in his grief. Left with no choice, XD drank the water before force feeding Flynn the water. This stunned Flynn so much that he directly swallowed it all without thinking twice. Xander on the other hand felt like he had just gotten gold. He recorded and took pictures as ‘evidence’ of XD’s promiscuity.

“I can already smell those five brand new cars and a house. He-he, XD my friend, you are bound to lose this bet.” He thought as he rubbed his hands greedily. Xander felt that Flynn’s presence might just melt the cold piece of existence that is XD’s heart and thaw it, letting spring come in for XD. Slowly, lulled by the beauty of XD’s eyes, Flynn closed his eyes and fell into a deep slumber. Realizing this, XD carried him to the bed and tucked him in. Xander hurriedly pushed XD into the bathroom to rinse out the medicine before it made him drowsy. Even though it couldn’t work on him, it was better to be safe than sorry.

“What happened? How come I found the both you looking like that couple that died on that sinking ship?” quipped Xander accompany with a chortle.

“First of all, they didn’t both die. It was only the guy who died. And he was having an episode. Something about his mother’s death being all his fault.” Answered XD.

“Oh, I see. Is that why you cradled him like a lover?” asked Xander with a taunting smirk. He knew that he was walking in a landmine field right now but he just couldn’t help himself. He felt the need to tease XD. But what happened next made him learn a lesson.

XD had who had walked out of the bathroom as Xander was just throwing out his teases when he walked back right in with his Beretta cocked and loaded while pointing it at Xander.

“If you know what is good for you, you would shut that blabbering mouth of yours and not dare say a word of this to anyone.” He warned in a threateningly low voice that sounded really dark and cold, bringing the other fearful side of him into display.

Xander felt his back drip with cold sweat as XD pointed his gun to him. He really felt that one wrong move would lead to him meeting the grave so soon.

“Now, now Lion. Easy there now. Let’s put the gun away and talk like a Mature, grown people.” Said Xander putting emphasis on Mature, as he tried to satiate the beast whose tail he had stepped on. He had really stepped on a landmine this time around.
