The moment the council doors shut behind us, I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding. My heart still beat unevenly, and my hands were moist with the scrutiny I’d faced beyond those doors.

They didn’t believe me. They didn’t even want to believe. Why had they been searching for the Moonborn if they were just going to immediately dismiss me. To be honest, I still wasn't sure I was her.
