chapter 5 : Is her dream over ?

Felix POV//

After the girls and boys fight, the 6 first and 6 last rows of the boys did fight, it's something like a sacking procedure. The test the weakest to see if they at least can keep up with the strong ones. I saw a lot of amazing fighters. After that the middle and last rows of the girls fight , it was a long evening, the fights ended past midnight and than the commentator who read the rankings for the next fights. But something was off. Clarkes name was not listed, and the fact that short after her fight one of the judges excused himself and never came back. Something was off I thought as I walked back to my room.

It's nine in the morning, I sit at the cantine with my breakfast and look at my list. So far there are four names on it: Isabella Clarke, Mike Miller, Luca Delgado, Vincent Brent .

That's not enough I need at least 6, maybe more I'm not sure. I need the really good one, and not to much so they can fit easily in our team without causing to much trouble. My friend interrupt my thoughts " Morning buddy. Did you hear about your girl?"

"Heard what?"

I knew something was off!

" The punch he throw , the one she didn't block, broke two of her ribs , and because of the fall at the end the spliter moved and hit her lung, which caused a collapse of ther right wing of the lung, she was in surgery all night. Its a miracle that she could walk off of the field."

" How the hell did she manage to fight him with broken ribs ? And how was she able to walk away without showing any signs of pain, or a collapsed lung?" I ask in shock.

" That is a very good question. If she survive the competition around her will be tough. You will have fight for her boy" Alpha Marcus says while taking the seat next to me.

"Thanks for telling me. I would like to go and check on her." I tell them and they nood in understandment.

It took me almost fifteen minutes to find the hospital wing. I entered the floor, not sure why I worrie so much for someone I don't even know when I accidentally run into someone. I look up to see Lord Varges. He is the one who left after her fight. Was he here the whole time ?" I'm sorry my lord , I was lost in my thoughts and didn't see you" I apologise honestly.

" Don't worry boy. You searching for someone?"he ask curiously smirking.

" Yes I do. I want to ask how the girl is doing. Isabella Clarke." I answer unsure of what to think.

His smile gets bigger and he says " I'm on my way to her, you can join me if you want."

" Yes, thanks." I tell him while we start walking down the hallway.

" You seem to like that girl. What's so special about her ?" he asks me , but he looks like he already know the answer.

" I'm not sure. The power that radiated off of her, the confidence and strength she poses is intriguing. And I don't know about you but I don't know much seventeen years old newbies that could fight with broken ribs and walk around with a collapsed lung. I think with the right training and support she could go a long way up. If the damage is not permanent. "

He thinks about my words before answering me " I see. Her injuries will heal good and quickly, she has good genes but the Battles are most likely out of question for her. We can't wait for her to recover before continue with the competition."

Yes that's what I was afraid of. " So is she disqualified ?" I ask curiously.

" No, not exactly. She hasn't lost, in fact she impressed even the elder. So if someone is still willing to take her in it would be possible" he says almost questioning.

We reach her room just as the doctor and a nurse leave.

" Dr. Cullim how is the patient? " Lord Varges sounds almost afraid? No I must imagine things , he is worried like I am. She amazed a lot people I guess.

" She will be fine in a couple of hours. But she can't attend the competition before she fully recovered from her injuries. That will take a day or two I guess." the doctor answer.

Lord Varges nods " That's what I feard. The girl didn't even had the chance to show us her full strength. Should I tell the other Lords to dismiss her from the rest of the Battles?"

" Yes it would be the best." Doc says with a sad look on his face.

That's really a tragedy. She fight and almost die for nothing if the Lords decide to disqualifie her.

We talked a bit about her condition and that she should wake up soon, after that Lord Varges and I took off. Walking through the hall and thinking about the whole situation. Without even thinking I say my thoughts out loud" I take her."

"What?" Varges burst out , stopping in his tracks.

" She won't be able to pick up on the missing competitions, and a lot might loose their interest. But I already saw what I need to see. I will take her with me, if you and the other Lords don't mind."

He looks me up and down like he is trying to read my mind and if I am being serious or just lost my mind than says " I can discuss this with the Lords, but what about your Alpha? Do you think he won't mind ?"

I think about it for a second. No he wouldn't, I mean he send me here on my own right, or would he? "I was going to call him anyway so I will discuss this matter with him today. How about we meet up here tomorrow morning after the breakfast and exchange the answers from our companions and also check on her again?" he nods approvingly but I am not so sertain after his statement.

Back in my room I immediately dail Isaacs number but he don't pick up right away and my impatience grows with every ring. Finally he picks up sounding a bit breathless " Felix, everything alright? Or are you already struggling down there on you own?"

I hear him laugh and can't control myself and roll my eyes on him. Lucky he don't see me, he hates getting attitude. " I am perfectly fine here, Alpha Marcus has me under his wings and guiding me a bit, but I do have a matter to discuss. I mean I can decide for my own but I would rather have the talk with you now before I come home and you beat the shit out of me for the wrong shot." i say as I hear him definitely catch his breath and closing a door so I add " Are you OK?You sound breathless, is everything alright or am I disturbing you?"

He sighs " I am fine , I just have Lydia here . But she decidet to be annoying as fuck today so you practically save me here buddy."

I laugh and after stating that she is always an annoying butt I explain the situation I'm in , tying to state out the fact that Lord Varges have also a thing for Clarke. He is quiet for so long I hold my breath nervous but than he speaks in a questioning tone" Is she that outstanding?"

" She is. I have the video of the fight, I can sent it to you right now ", I say hopefully and put my phone on speakers. I hear him do the same and conect his phone to the computer. He don't say a word when I hear the low voice of Reikes ,what tells me he watches the video and I pace nervously around my room waiting for him to finish when I hear a low whistle escape him.

" Damn, she is good. I don't feel her power through the screen but to be that calm when getting insulted and bring that rock of a man to fall , with already broken ribs is indeed outstanding. " He says marveled and then continue " And now she is in the hospital fighting for her life. But it was to predict, Reikes is not a fun opponent. "

" Wait, do you know him?" I ask shocked.

"You don't?" he laughs " he is the son of Nox' Beta. Kyle Reikers. I wonder why they did put him to the Battles? Maybe because he is an idiot? So are the judges going to disqualifie her because of her injuries?"

" Now it makes sense. I know the name , but I thought it is just a coincidence. Never would I have guessed that the Beta put his son in such a crappy situation. " I say chuckling " Lord Varges said that technically she won the fight so no reason for a disqualification. But because of her injuries and her staying hospitalised, she will miss the other competition so there is no matter in keeping her in this project as well." before he can answer I add " And I have to tell you that I might said to Varges that I want to take her. It slipped out of my mouth before I could stop myself and he was the one suggesting if it was smart to fo do without speaking to you."

I bite my bottom lip in anticipation and fear of his answer but he surprises me " I see the struggle, and don't worry you did the right choice, I trust your instincts. Besides she is an amazing fighters despites ther small frame and when even my friend Marcus likes her, she must have something. Also what could possibly go wrong? If she don't fit we find a place for her at home." He says and I let out the breath I didn't realise I was holding.

We talk about some matters at home and some boy shit like always before Jackson call him and he hung up.

I sigh, reliefed that my friend and I are on the same page here. Looking at the clock I realise it's still early, almost two hours till dinner so I decide to train a bit and do some laps in the back yard .

After my training session qand a quick shower I head to the dining room only to bump into the Neros. " Look who we have here?" the Alpha ass says smiling.

"Hello boys. You comfortable here?" I say with a devilish smile on my face, knowing they hate disrespect.

" I heard you are interested in taking the girl? don't get to hyped up though, you won't get her. We have connections to the judges and already settled the matter."

"Right to the point like always I see. Well if that's the case than good luck. If you would excuse me, I'm starving. " I say and walk off as soon as I finish my sentence, don't bother to wait for their answers because I don't care. They always talk shit, but I know they want the girl just because I want her. The trying to get to me and Isaacs like always, but I won't let that happen again. Last time it escalated and almost got us to war with them, for that Isaacs literally beat the shit out of me. But I do wonder if its true and get a bit nervous. What the fuck is up with my Head? Why am I so concerned and possessive about that girl? She is definitely not my mate, I would have realised that the moment I set foot on the Castle grounds, but something just triggers and almost drawing me to her. Maybe it's just because my brother know her ? Or the fact that.. oh damn I don't know.! I put the thoughts aside get myself a plate and some rice with spice sauce, a salad some bread and a coke and head to a lonely , empty table. Trying to focus on something else but this girl!

Misha apearce beside me and of course ask" So how's the girl? Did you get the chance to talk or at least see her?" Well yeah that worked well.

" No but I talked to Lord Varges and Isaacs, looks like both agree with me taking her. But I don't know about the other judges, because she definitely won't participate in the competitions anymore." I say hoping he would drop that topic, but of course he won't.

" That's great! When Lord Varges is up to it the others won't mind , I'm sure. He is well known and super respected even around the elder. " Well at least he took a bit of my worries with his statement and I say ": We will see tomorrow. I am meeting him at the hospital after breakfast." He nods and stuffs his mouth with the food, finally stop talking.

But I have to admit I feel a lot more relaxed now he ensured me. But I still cringe at the thought how possesiv I am about my princess.

Wait..What ? Did I just called her MY princess? Fuck what is wrong with me?????

Misha must feel me tense and asks " Hey what's wrong pal?"

" I don't know buddy, just some strange feelings and thoughts. " I say he looks at my about to say something when he realised it isn't smart and gets silently back to his food. Thank god!

Thr next morning I got up way to early although I don't sleep well, I look at the clock damn 5 in the morning! I get up anyway and head out to train until I hear my own tummy growling.

After I shower and get dressed , wearing dark blue jeans and a black shirt I got me some breakfast, enjoying my alone time.

I left the cantine and head down the long hall towards the hospital when Marcus calls my name, I turn around and greet him " Good morning Alpha."

"Good morning, heading to the hospital already? Misha told me about your run in with Lord Varges. Good for you to have a Lorn on your side, heard the Neros wanted to claim the girl as theirs." He says making a face like he is about to puke.

I smile at that " Yeah they catched me yesterday before dinner to rub in my face that they getting her because their conectins. " saying that I roll my eyes.

" Wish you luck pal! See you later at the gathering!"

After thanking him I make may way down the hall. I reach the room Isabella is in and was about to knock when I hear her scream at someone " No! They can't do it! Please, tell them I will get up, and be ready to join back in tomorrow! Please I beg you, I came this far I can't loose now!" Gosh she sounded so devastated and desperate my heart breaks for her.

" I'm sorry honey but the decisions been made. Your out of the competition buy you can stay here and join the Ball on Friday because....." Lord Varges I assume didn't get the chance to finish the sentence when she trys to apply to him again" No.No.No. please listen ! I don't care about this stupid ball!! I want to join a strong unit. No one will want me when I get out after one fight! What am I supposed to do ?!?!" I hear her cry and sob and just can't take that anymore so I knock twice.

" Come In Beta I was waiting for you." Victor says, of course sensed my already.

I get in , close the door and make my way to them looking straight at the Lord with pleading eyes and he smiles lightly and nods letting me know that he does understand and also giving me the answer with nodding in her direction and wink at me. I sigh and after letting a shaky breath out I look at Isabella, who trys hiding her face under the blanket, clearly not wanting me to see that she cried.

" Hello Miss Clarke how are you feeling today ? I am...." I put a smile on my face about to introduce myself when she interrupts me " I know who you are Beta Rider." She says that in such a low voice I barely heard her.

"You can call me Felix! Are you up for a quick talk ?"

" About what?" she asks with tearfully eyes. I feel sadness and anger radiats off of her and something I can't classify. When I hear her sob I realise I forgot to answer.

" You don't need to be upset, because I have good news! I talked to my Alpha explaind the whole situation and we decided to take you. If you don't want to join us, I heard that the Neros brothers are also still eager to take you in." I say but my insides hurt and i feel like bile Rise my throat by the last words that left my lips. I don't want them to take her! She is mi..... What? Dammit again? I think to myself.

But to my relief she jerks up,sitting upright and brust out louder than I think she intended to " NO! I mean I don't want to join them. I want to join the Night Shadows!"

"Than its settled!" I say smiling bright.

She giggle and I watch her looking back and forth between me and Lord Varges.

" Is it true? Can he take me ,without me finishing the competition?" she asks him with a praying look.

He sighs and answer her " That's what I was about to tell you when you started screaming at me and interrupting my every sentence. "

She bows down her head in shame , playing with her hands " I'm sorry. I shouldn't have screams at you." He smiles and pats her knee fatherly" It's forgiven. Now you rest and the Beta and I need to talk."
