My love story with my Don husband was once the model relationship for couples all across Edale. But after his sudden death, the notary informed me that I was not the first in line to inherit his estate. I froze. Christian Fuzio was an only child. His parents had long passed away. We had no children. If I wasn't the first in line, then who was? That was when the boy walked in. His face was a perfect copy of Zoe Sgotti, Christian's assistant. The boy crossed his arms and sneered. "Mrs. Fuzio, the person my father loved most in his life was my mother. Of course, most of the inheritance belongs to us." Rae… Ray… Only then did I realize that the name he had whispered on his deathbed was never mine. I lunged forward to question Ray, but he shoved me into the traffic. The moment my head slammed against the ground, darkness swallowed everything. When I opened my eyes once more… I stared at my young, strong hands. Feeling the life that I had once lost growing inside me, I finally understood that I had been given another chance. Christian, this time, I no longer wanted your fake love. I would grant the three of you all the happiness that you wanted.

Chapter 1

The notary's finger hovered above the keyboard for a moment.

"Mrs. Fuzio." He adjusted his glasses, not daring to look straight at me. "The heir next in line needs to be present to confirm his intentions."

I was confused.

Christian Fuzio was an only child. His parents passed away ten years ago. We were married for 20 years with no children.

"What did you say?"

Before the notary could reply, the doors opened.

When the boy walked in, I didn't even react. That was, until I saw his face.

His brows, chin, and even his posture where he crossed his arms all looked like someone.

Zoe Sgotti. Christian's assistant for 20 years.

The boy smirked and said in a lazy tone, "Mrs. Fuzio, the person my father loved most in his life was my mother. Of course, most of the inheritance belongs to us."

My mind blanked as if something slammed violently onto it. I refused to accept this news.

Christian loved me so much. How could he have a child with another woman?

"My father stopped loving you for a long time. Don't tell me that you're only finding out about this now, you foolish woman?"

His mockery stomped my heart into pieces.

I stood up, barely. My legs felt like jelly.

Memories flooded my mind: Christian hugging me, telling me that he would love me forever; Christian staying awake beside me all night when I was sick.

Those memories of love clashed violently with the truth of betrayal, tearing my heart apart.

I burst into hysterical sobs like a madwoman.

The moment I stepped out of the notary's office, a hand suddenly pressed against my shoulder and shoved me straight into the traffic.

During the accident, I heard the dull sound of my head hitting the ground.

Then darkness swallowed everything.

When I opened my eyes again, I was staring at a mirror.

The woman in the reflection was young, with blond hair and a sweet smile, longing for love.

I lowered my head to see the pregnancy test kit beside me.

I was reborn, returning to the first year when I just married Christian.

The first thing I did was to call my university professor, Richard Lisetti.

"Professor Lisetti, I accept your invitation to join the research team."

Richard was stunned. I just turned down his invitation the day before. I told him I was pregnant and that I couldn't bear to be away from Christian.

"Rae, have you really thought this through? This project is highly confidential. Once you're in, you won't be able to contact the outside world. Does your husband agree?"

The memories of betrayal in my previous life flooded my mind. I was not going to make the same mistake again in this life.

"I'm divorced. I will join the team with my child. If you agree, I can depart any time."

"Of course, I agree! I'll prepare living arrangements suitable for a pregnant woman and arrange a professional obstetrician to make sure you’re in good health! We depart in three days!"

After hanging up, I started packing.

In my previous life, I had a miscarriage due to an accident. In this life, I was going to protect my baby.

Christian Fuzio, in this life, neither my child nor I wanted you anymore.
