Chapter 6 Teaching Him a Lesson

Author: Night Eleven
Jimmy had always thought that the common folk were beneath him. He didn't notice that Aria's gaze changed as she looked up. Viciousness and contempt filled her eyes.

She casually toyed with a piece of candy in her palm. Then, she flicked toward Jimmy.

He felt his knee give out as he fell to the ground.

"Ah!" The pain caused him to frown.

He tried to get up but realized that he couldn't move his body at all. He couldn't talk, and his hands wouldn't budge.

It felt like his movements had been sealed with the attack.

Aria walked up to him and said calmly, "As a medical student, you failed miserably at determining the patient's symptoms, and you even declared a verdict without a second thought.

"Being a doctor doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. It's a job for you to help people in need. You're unskilled and unethical. Now that you're on your knees, I'll accept your apology. Consider this a lesson I'm teaching you in your mentor's stead."

"You!" Jimmy's eyes were filled with hatred.

Aria leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Since you're such a shameless person, it'll probably be okay if you remain on your knees here for a couple of hours."

"What did you do to me? I want to call the cops! I have been assaulted!" Jimmy yelled.

Aria smiled. "And who can prove anything? Mr. Cornell, you got on your knees yourself. I didn't even touch you."

"I know right? He deserves that!"

The people in the crowd felt great satisfaction seeing Jimmy in that state.

"The young lady didn't do anything. Stop lying!"

That was the truth. He was the one who refused to help the boy. He was also the one who was running his mouth after Aria provided treatment for the boy.

He was also the one who had been cursing at everyone in the crowd and was shameless enough to refuse to apologize. He was a true disgrace to the medical profession.

Did he really think he could just say all those things without repercussions? He even tried to blame Aria for his condition.

The women in the crowd started to yell, "Everyone, come and take a look! There's an unskilled medical student here. He's on his knees to apologize right now!"

"You! All of you!" Jimmy's face was flushed, and his breath was labored.

That was why people didn't mess with the ordinary citizens who were brave, kind, and despised delinquency. Jimmy was a fool for being so domineering in front of them.

The more people looked at him, the lower Jimmy's head hung. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him up. He was afraid that someone would recognize him.

The malice in his eyes grew as he looked at Aria.

They were both in the medical industry. So, they were bound to meet again someday. He swore he would get back at her the next time they met.

Aria didn't spare him another glance. Besides, if they crossed paths again, she didn't mind breaking his legs.

Quite a lot of the older people in the crowd asked for Aria's contact information. They had seen how she performed acupuncture on the boy.

It was clear that she was an extremely skilled doctor. They were determined to secure her contact information.

Aria didn't turn any of them down, so she added them to her contacts.

Francine asked enthusiastically, "Young lady, you were so skilled with the needles. Is there a traditional medicine practitioner in your family?"

Aria thought about Georgina Harris, the woman who used to be her grandmother while she was living with the Kents. Georgina was the only one who showed her any kindness.

She came up with a solid reason. "Yes. My grandmother practices traditional medicine. She runs a care center."

"No wonder. I'll introduce some clients to her soon!"

"Sure." Aria thanked Francine politely.

Aria didn't have the airs of a renowned doctor at all. She was a legend hiding in plain sight.

The boy hadn't spoken at all since he talked to Jimmy. He just sat there quietly as he observed everything. His eyes were very bright, and he looked really adorable.

After she finished talking to everyone else, Aria looked at him. "Are you still lightheaded?"

He shook his head. Then, he looked up at Aria. "Miss, I'm Miles. Thanks for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would've been dead."

Miles York's voice was very sweet. His eyes were round, and his face was very smooth and cute. He did a cute little bow when he thanked Aria.

"Your name is Miles? Where is your family?" Aria asked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're all inside!" Miles said as he pointed behind him at the Caesar Hotel. Not just anyone could get in there at the moment.

People in the crowd exclaimed in surprise and started talking."Everyone in Caesar Hotel today is quite important. The watch he was wearing on his wrist was quite expensive as well. "Remember to bring bodyguards when you come out next time," Aria said as she packed her medical kit up. He nodded and said, "I'll have my parents thank you properly, miss."Aria adjusted his collar for him. "No need for that. I don't take payment for helping kids.""And…" Miles shifted his gaze. "Do you

Aria couldn't really see what the person in the car looked like. But she was a doctor. So, she was very sensitive to the scent of herbs. She smelled the faint fragrance of herbs when the window was rolled down. Aria was well-versed in the "Traditional Herbs Almanac". She was well aware that there was a high chance that someone with a chronic illness would be photophobic.Troy urged, "Mr. Miles, don't you want to go see Mr. Landon first?"Miles was distracted. He said to Aria, "Miss, please stay here and wait for me. I'll be back soon."Aria nodded.Miles dashed toward the car.Troy stayed behind and handed Aria a card. "Thanks for saving Mr. Miles, Ms. Carver. This is a gift for you. Please accept it.""You know my last name? That means you know who I am." Aria smiled meaningfully. "It doesn't feel like you're thanking me. It feels like you're trying to distance yourself from me."Troy froze for a second. "You're mistaken, Ms. Carver.""Doesn't matter." Aria glanced at Mile

"Since you know the person who saved Miles, pick something out and send it to her." Landon coughed lightly as he looked at Troy deeply. "I'll pay her a visit with Miles in a few days."Troy started to sweat under Landon's gaze. He didn't dare to look Landon in the eye. He replied nervously, "Yes, boss!"He figured it wouldn't be hard to track down Aria. After all, she used to be part of the Kent family. She would probably tell them where she was. But he was clearly being too optimistic. He didn't know that Aria didn't want to see the Kents at all. They were an eyesore to her, but they kept showing up before her—just as what was happening at the very moment. Aria had sent Miles back to his family. She was planning to get on the shared bicycle she was using and ride it home. Suddenly, a familiar voice rang next to her. "Why are you here?"The person who spoke up was her adoptive mother, Karen Layne. The disdain in her voice was clear. She didn't even want to utter Aria's nam

Aria, who was holding herself steady on the bicycle with one leg, looked at the Kents nonchalantly. She had a very commanding presence that was hard to ignore. Marshall glanced at her. Suppressing his annoyance, he handed her a card. Then, he said in a low voice, "Aria, take the money, thank us, and go."Lily was about to be accepted as Salome's pupil that day. He didn't want anything to go wrong. Aria was sitting on the bicycle seat. There were no emotions in her eyes, but she couldn't help but smile when she heard what Marshall said.50,000? Help her out? Take the money, thank them, then leave? The Kents were really trying their best to pin the image of a poor relative on her. Just as everyone thought she would take the card and leave, she threw it right back at them. She did it in one swift motion. Everyone was dumbfounded. Karen couldn't hold in her anger anymore. She shrieked, "What are you doing? We're helping you out of the kindness of our hearts. Don't you dare pus

Lily said softly, "Miss, I'll apologize on my mom's behalf. Since you don't want the money, you shouldn't stalk us anymore. You're completely capable of making a living on your own. I just don't want my mother's rash actions to hurt your pride again."Her words were very respectful and dignified. People around her looked at her with approval. The crowd looked at her, then at Aria. They felt like these two people were worlds apart. Lily was kind and magnanimous like a goddess. On the other hand, Aria was petty and hateful. The people walking behind Salome were shaking their heads in disapproval. Aria smirked when she saw them. It was like her clear eyes could see through everything.Lily evaded Aria's gaze. For some reason, she felt a little afraid of this completely unpredictable "sister" of hers. Was she trying to get revenge against the Kents because they kicked her out? Three months ago, she was still very docile, unlike the way she was at that moment. It was like she h

Marshall's demeanor shifted upon realizing no one else was around. "From now on, we'll completely cut ties with you. Don't you even breathe a word of how you used to be part of the Kent family." Aria didn't respond. She truly didn't want to put up with the Kents anymore. Joel, who came to look for Aria on a scooter, was unhappy with how Marshall was talking to Aria. He said with a frown, "Sir, how can you be so rude to Doc... I mean, Aria?"Aria had always kept a low profile. She told everyone in Elmer district to address her by her name when they were outside. Joel almost let it slip because he was distracted. Marshall got the wrong idea. He looked at Joel and said, "Is this your father? He commutes with a scooter?"Upon noticing Joel's completely out-of-fashion frock coat and unassuming scooter, Marshall made a snap judgment. Now he understood why Aria was in such a state—her father couldn't even afford a car. People from the countryside were truly pathetic.Marshall'

"I thought they wanted you to provide treatment," Joel muttered. Aria didn't think too much about it. She just took out her phone and rejected the York family job. There had been quite a lot of people going to Elmer district to seek treatment. Many of them were from neighboring cities and counties. So, it wasn't weird for Joel to think the visitors were there to do the same. After all, they came all the way from Uludon."Mr. Hayes, let's head back. We wouldn't want Mr. Kane and the others to wait for too long.""Sure thing." Joel nodded with a smile. She didn't say too much, and he didn't ask too many questions. Thus, a misunderstanding formed. …The Carvers were very anxious as they waited outside the Elmer district. The Carver brothers had to work. So, they had no choice but to leave. Warren sat in the car with a frustrated expression. "Didn't the intel show that my granddaughter is here? Why is everyone saying that they haven't seen her before?""I… I'll go look into

"That's right, Mr. Kent. They asked for that imposter by name and wanted to know where she is," said Alfred. Marshall thought about the person with the scooter. He said annoyedly, "No wonder she didn't want the money. She wants more. She wants to leech off our family.""They are so shameless! I'll send them off right away. I have ways to deal with leeches like these people," Alfred said viciously. Marshall replied, "Don't make too much of a scene. Our family has an image to maintain.""Don't worry, sir. I understand."Marshall hung up and went back to socializing with others. Lily was about to be accepted as Salome's pupil. With how influential the Gunthers were in the medical world, they were sure to be able to get in contact with the Yorks. This would be a great help for Marshall's career. It was a very crucial time for him. He didn't have the time to deal with Aria's destitute relatives. The notion itself was laughable. Not going home and meeting with Frank, who had g

Durand's expression darkened; Eamon was right. Amos and the official from the state had originally wanted to work with the Grishams, especially Eamon. That was why they used the Fitzroys as a bridge to approach him. Unfortunately, Magdalene had failed to establish any rapport with the Grishams.Instead, she kept criticizing Eamon, claiming he followed Laura's every word, and insisted they had plenty of ways to manipulate the Grishams. In the end, the divorce erupted into a scandal, and the entire Fitzroy family was imprisoned.Ironically, Eamon's actions only impressed the state official more. Durand had even heard Amos say that their leader hoped Eamon would continue working with them as his involvement would ensure their plans progressed smoothly. That knowledge burned Durand with frustration. No matter what he did, he could never measure up to Eamon."It looks like you still haven't grasped the situation, Mr. Grishman. Mr. Grisham Senior has begged everyone, but where did it le

"I'm happy to take over the Grishams' responsibilities," Durand said.Waymond scoffed coldly. "You're not worthy of it.""Mr. Lincoln, it seems someone's not too happy with you."Durand, dressed like a gentleman as always, adjusted his glasses and replied calmly, "Waymond, you've been in this business long enough to know how things work. The Grishams have gained a lot over the years. It's not up to you to decide whether to hold on to it."Leonardo stood, trying to ease the tension. "There's no point in arguing. Let's settle this the traditional way—with an anonymous vote. Everyone, write down whether you think the Grishams should step down. Let the vote speak for itself. That way, it'll be fair."He instructed someone to bring in a box, paper, and pens. Each member was handed a set. It was more for show than anything else; everyone already knew how the vote would go.Eamon saw right through their performance, his gaze turning cold as he sat silently. The votes were quickly cast an

"Mr. Grisham, how long your niece stays locked up isn't up to us—it depends on the severity of her crime," Durand said. "As a member of the Chamber of Commerce, you should understand how serious the situation she's stirred up really is. Haven't you read any of the online news?"People are now hoping the Grisham family goes bankrupt. They're even demanding that we, the Chamber, investigate this matter ourselves!"His words made those who had previously wanted to side with the Grishams start to hesitate. With the Draycotts and Fitzroys already doomed, the Grishams had seemed like the next best option. But no one had expected Aria to make such a critical mistake.Public sentiment had turned sharply. The Chamber of Commerce was now being blamed for enabling an economic disaster. What angered the public most was Aria's carefully crafted image. If she'd shown her true colors from the start, they might have ignored her. But pretending to be righteous, only to betray the common people—that w

Dave smiled, clearly enjoying the desperation on Lewis' face. "Also, you won't be getting any more orders. Your supervisor is going to help us delete every report you've ever submitted. What a shame, Lewis. You risked your life on the front lines, only for someone else to reap the rewards behind your back. If I were you, I'd stop being so loyal. Wouldn't it be better to join us?"He was trying to manipulate Lewis, planting doubt and betrayal like poison. As Aria listened, her fists clenched slowly. Nothing crushed a person's spirit more than destroying their belief in what they stood for. They had exposed Lewis on purpose—to break his faith in the uniform he wore. The masked clients settled back into their seats, returning to their arrogant ease. They were reminded that they were above the law within these walls. No one from the outside could enter the premises, and if someone did, they wouldn't leave intact. These people had powerful connections. To them, the undercover cop was a

Aside from Aria, who had initially refused the food, everything had seemed normal to Stephanie. After all, Aria eventually accepted a drink, and nothing else appeared out of the ordinary. But the more Stephanie thought about it, the deeper her frown became. A sense of unease crept in, and she instinctively lowered her microphone, ready to rush to the basement to check things for herself. Seeing her reaction, the wealthy clients began to panic. The woman in the fox mask stood up, clutching her bag tightly, and made for the exit. She feared she would actually be arrested if she stayed any longer. She had no intention of ending up in jail just for attending an auction, especially one like this. Most importantly, she couldn't afford to have her reputation tarnished.Like her, the rest of the crowd shared the same instinct—flee.Meanwhile, Aria narrowed her eyes as she subdued a bodyguard with one hand. She maintained firm but measured pressure with her left hand, ready to act the moment

When Sasha heard the man mention the rare gem, her eyes narrowed slightly. Very few people knew about it. Only Dave and a handful of higher-ups were aware. She immediately wondered who had leaked the news. But the man's words had already ignited excitement across the auction floor."What? A rare gem?""It's been ages since we've seen one! I can't believe there's actually one today!"To these people, a rare gem referred to someone whose body was considered exceptionally valuable, blessed with natural fortune, vitality, and unmatched physical condition. It was believed that such a person couldn't fully harness the luck they were born with. But if someone else could acquire it...Not only could they preserve their youth and beauty, but their careers and fortunes could be transformed. The idea sent a thrill through the room, and their greed quickly became impossible to hide.Sasha realized the situation was slipping out of her control. The woman's interest in the man was obvious when she approached him. "It's fine, as long as he didn't just stumble in here. I just thought he didn't look like he came to buy anything."At that, the bodyguard checked the guest list and found the crow-masked man's name. "This gentleman is here for the same reason you are.""Oh? How peculiar," she said, casting another glance at the man. When Aria got up to leave, the girls looked at her with concern. She seemed to be about their age, and they couldn't help but worry about her safety."It's too dangerous for you to head out there by yourself."They didn't know exactly how many people were lurking outside, but they were smart enough to know none of them could be trusted. Even the security guards had proven to be dangerous.Aria was slightly surprised by their concern. She'd completed many missions, but it was rare for anyone to care about her well-being. Still, she figured the girls were just looking out for one another. With a smirk, Aria tossed a bodyguard aside and said, "Don't worry, I'll be fine. Just stay here a little longer. In half an hour, someone will come to rescue you. The secret code is 'up above the world so high'.""Isn't that from Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?" one of them asked, both confused and surprised. He had transformed into a sniper, his rifle pieced together from parts in his toolbox. Meanwhile, the university students who had supposedly come to camp had vanished without a trace—no one noticed their absence. They didn't need to storm the building to be deadly. Like a pack of wolves in the dead of night, they moved fast and struck hard, aiming to take down their targets in one swift blow.Soon after, Aria made a quick hand gesture, instructing Sam to jam the bodyguards' walkie-talkies. Without hesitation, Sam launched a virus that disabled all their communications.Aria lowered her gaze and silently counted to three. Then she stood up in a flash, so fast that the four guards around her had no time to react. Before they could even reach for their weapons,
