Chapter 6 Teaching Him a Lesson

작가: Night Eleven
Jimmy had always thought that the common folk were beneath him. He didn't notice that Aria's gaze changed as she looked up. Viciousness and contempt filled her eyes.

She casually toyed with a piece of candy in her palm. Then, she flicked toward Jimmy.

He felt his knee give out as he fell to the ground.

"Ah!" The pain caused him to frown.

He tried to get up but realized that he couldn't move his body at all. He couldn't talk, and his hands wouldn't budge.

It felt like his movements had been sealed with the attack.

Aria walked up to him and said calmly, "As a medical student, you failed miserably at determining the patient's symptoms, and you even declared a verdict without a second thought.

"Being a doctor doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. It's a job for you to help people in need. You're unskilled and unethical. Now that you're on your knees, I'll accept your apology. Consider this a lesson I'm teaching you in your mentor's stead."

"You!" Jimmy's eyes were filled with hatred.

Aria leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Since you're such a shameless person, it'll probably be okay if you remain on your knees here for a couple of hours."

"What did you do to me? I want to call the cops! I have been assaulted!" Jimmy yelled.

Aria smiled. "And who can prove anything? Mr. Cornell, you got on your knees yourself. I didn't even touch you."

"I know right? He deserves that!"

The people in the crowd felt great satisfaction seeing Jimmy in that state.

"The young lady didn't do anything. Stop lying!"

That was the truth. He was the one who refused to help the boy. He was also the one who was running his mouth after Aria provided treatment for the boy.

He was also the one who had been cursing at everyone in the crowd and was shameless enough to refuse to apologize. He was a true disgrace to the medical profession.

Did he really think he could just say all those things without repercussions? He even tried to blame Aria for his condition.

The women in the crowd started to yell, "Everyone, come and take a look! There's an unskilled medical student here. He's on his knees to apologize right now!"

"You! All of you!" Jimmy's face was flushed, and his breath was labored.

That was why people didn't mess with the ordinary citizens who were brave, kind, and despised delinquency. Jimmy was a fool for being so domineering in front of them.

The more people looked at him, the lower Jimmy's head hung. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him up. He was afraid that someone would recognize him.

The malice in his eyes grew as he looked at Aria.

They were both in the medical industry. So, they were bound to meet again someday. He swore he would get back at her the next time they met.

Aria didn't spare him another glance. Besides, if they crossed paths again, she didn't mind breaking his legs.

Quite a lot of the older people in the crowd asked for Aria's contact information. They had seen how she performed acupuncture on the boy.

It was clear that she was an extremely skilled doctor. They were determined to secure her contact information.

Aria didn't turn any of them down, so she added them to her contacts.

Francine asked enthusiastically, "Young lady, you were so skilled with the needles. Is there a traditional medicine practitioner in your family?"

Aria thought about Georgina Harris, the woman who used to be her grandmother while she was living with the Kents. Georgina was the only one who showed her any kindness.

She came up with a solid reason. "Yes. My grandmother practices traditional medicine. She runs a care center."

"No wonder. I'll introduce some clients to her soon!"

"Sure." Aria thanked Francine politely.

Aria didn't have the airs of a renowned doctor at all. She was a legend hiding in plain sight.

The boy hadn't spoken at all since he talked to Jimmy. He just sat there quietly as he observed everything. His eyes were very bright, and he looked really adorable.

After she finished talking to everyone else, Aria looked at him. "Are you still lightheaded?"

He shook his head. Then, he looked up at Aria. "Miss, I'm Miles. Thanks for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would've been dead."

Miles York's voice was very sweet. His eyes were round, and his face was very smooth and cute. He did a cute little bow when he thanked Aria.

"Your name is Miles? Where is your family?" Aria asked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're all inside!" Miles said as he pointed behind him at the Caesar Hotel. Not just anyone could get in there at the moment.

Tobias immediately opened the door, only to see a man in black vanishing into the distance, leaving behind a single piece of paper. He bent down, picked it up, and shut the door before slowly unfolding the paper to read its contents."Very few can activate the Divine Sight now. I'm honored to have found a worthy opponent. Oh, and your friend Homer—if we ever clash again, make sure you destroy the Sacrificial Offering Manifestation. Otherwise, we may never meet again. Haha!"When Homer noticed the displeasure on Tobias' face, he glanced at the note. "He came to provoke us? Does he really think we're pushovers?"Tobias furrowed his brows and responded after a moment's thought. "The fact that he dared to leave this message means he's hidden the manifestation's core well. This isn't the tone of an ordinary person."And you're just one step away from becoming an Arcane High Priest. He must be very confident."Homer's gaze shifted. "Did you forcefully activate the Divine Eye after I l

The four of them fell silent after hearing Veric's question. It was a difficult one to answer.Veric, however, didn't seem to notice their hesitation. "What is it? Why aren't you saying anything? Don't feel burdened. We all know how dangerous Willowstead is. The fact that you made it back alive is impressive enough."Shandon was rendered speechless. It wasn't about being burdened. They were simply at a loss. Should they say that Chase had gone mad? Or that an apprentice from the Suncrest Sect had abandoned their teammates and betrayed them?Just as the four were gathering the courage to respond, Aria emerged from the teleportation manifestation. She had intended to meet Philip's mentor as soon as possible. Logically, once the Willowstead Manifestation was destroyed, he would lose his source of nourishment and worship. Desperate, he would need to find a new vessel to house his decaying soul.Of course, Aria didn't believe that Willowstead was his only source of power. He must've ha

With Zane's command, everyone began to pick their locations. They couldn't afford to let their guard down—Farshya was at stake.Initially, Zane had been suspicious of the map. If it were a decoy planted by their enemies, the consequences could be catastrophic. Still, he chose to trust Aria. After watching his team disperse, Zane pulled out his phone and dialed the number Aria had written in the note. A steady voice soon answered, "This is Lucas Murray speaking."Zane replied, "Hello. I'm one of Ms. Carver's subordinates."Lucas paused. "Ms. Carver? Do you mean Aria?""Yes," Zane said quietly. "She gave me your number and told me to call you if anything serious happened."Lucas' expression turned grave. He knew this wasn't a casual call. "What's going on?"Zane quickly explained the situation, including the pouch Aria had left behind.Lucas' tone sharpened. "Aria's arrangements seem sound, but there are broader issues we need to consider. If this is the beginning of an attack on

After Asher left, Feran entered his house. A cloaked figure was already waiting by the door. Noticing him, Feran gestured for the man to come inside. The cloaked figure entered and dropped to one knee. "Mr. Maynard, preparations for Operation Shadow are underway. Nothing will go wrong this time."Feran's kind demeanor faded, replaced by cold indifference. "You've made several moves, yet none have met my expectations. You should reflect on where the problem lies."The man quickly replied, "That woman from the Carver family always ruined our plans just when success was in reach. That's why we had to abandon them."Feran shot him a glance. "She's gone now, so nothing's holding you back. But don't forget how formidable Farshya's Special Missions Unit and Highest Operations Unit are. You are aware of that, right?"The man nodded. "They're strong, but we're no weaker. Once the timing is right, we'll plunge all of Farshya into chaos. We've also formed alliances with other nations to sup

Specter nodded. "Don't end up like that useless Orion. You should be thankful that it was just a trial run and not the real start of Operation Shadow." Specter then turned to a burly man seated at the side, codenamed Hammer."Hammer, your mission is to stir chaos in society. We'll stage a series of 'accidents' in Farshya's major cities to throw the government and citizens into disarray."Hammer nodded, his hoarse voice steady and resolute. "I've already mapped the targets—transportation hubs, public facilities, and media centers. Our people will act on my signal." Specter gave a satisfied nod, then turned to a lean figure. "Shade, your role is the most critical. We need intel on Farshya's latest military technologies, especially quantum communications and defense deployment. Can you handle it?"Shade looked up, a cunning glint in his eye. "I've already infiltrated their research institutions and secured some preliminary data. Give me a little more time, and I'll have the core in

The crow sighed, uncertain if the situation was for the better or worse. As the embodiment of the Divine Laws, Landon was not supposed to harbor selfish thoughts. However, had Landon not developed such thoughts, Chaos and the Cerulean Dragon would have been doomed. They would have perished in the purge, just as the heavens and the people had wished—and the crow along with them.Although it was also a primordial beast, the crow's reputation had been marred by rumors and suspicion. People no longer saw it as sacred, but as a harbinger of misfortune.Landon had saved the crow out of selfishness—a selfishness that had only taken root after Aria rescued him in the mountains. That time, Landon did many things he normally wouldn't. He took on bad karma, and more troublingly, he developed emotions—selfishness and love. For the embodiment of the Divine Laws, falling in love was not good news. Yet Landon, ever righteous, chose to bear the karma rather than violate his duty. With each ac
