Chapter 6 Teaching Him a Lesson

ผู้เขียน: Night Eleven
Jimmy had always thought that the common folk were beneath him. He didn't notice that Aria's gaze changed as she looked up. Viciousness and contempt filled her eyes.

She casually toyed with a piece of candy in her palm. Then, she flicked toward Jimmy.

He felt his knee give out as he fell to the ground.

"Ah!" The pain caused him to frown.

He tried to get up but realized that he couldn't move his body at all. He couldn't talk, and his hands wouldn't budge.

It felt like his movements had been sealed with the attack.

Aria walked up to him and said calmly, "As a medical student, you failed miserably at determining the patient's symptoms, and you even declared a verdict without a second thought.

"Being a doctor doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. It's a job for you to help people in need. You're unskilled and unethical. Now that you're on your knees, I'll accept your apology. Consider this a lesson I'm teaching you in your mentor's stead."

"You!" Jimmy's eyes were filled with hatred.

Aria leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Since you're such a shameless person, it'll probably be okay if you remain on your knees here for a couple of hours."

"What did you do to me? I want to call the cops! I have been assaulted!" Jimmy yelled.

Aria smiled. "And who can prove anything? Mr. Cornell, you got on your knees yourself. I didn't even touch you."

"I know right? He deserves that!"

The people in the crowd felt great satisfaction seeing Jimmy in that state.

"The young lady didn't do anything. Stop lying!"

That was the truth. He was the one who refused to help the boy. He was also the one who was running his mouth after Aria provided treatment for the boy.

He was also the one who had been cursing at everyone in the crowd and was shameless enough to refuse to apologize. He was a true disgrace to the medical profession.

Did he really think he could just say all those things without repercussions? He even tried to blame Aria for his condition.

The women in the crowd started to yell, "Everyone, come and take a look! There's an unskilled medical student here. He's on his knees to apologize right now!"

"You! All of you!" Jimmy's face was flushed, and his breath was labored.

That was why people didn't mess with the ordinary citizens who were brave, kind, and despised delinquency. Jimmy was a fool for being so domineering in front of them.

The more people looked at him, the lower Jimmy's head hung. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him up. He was afraid that someone would recognize him.

The malice in his eyes grew as he looked at Aria.

They were both in the medical industry. So, they were bound to meet again someday. He swore he would get back at her the next time they met.

Aria didn't spare him another glance. Besides, if they crossed paths again, she didn't mind breaking his legs.

Quite a lot of the older people in the crowd asked for Aria's contact information. They had seen how she performed acupuncture on the boy.

It was clear that she was an extremely skilled doctor. They were determined to secure her contact information.

Aria didn't turn any of them down, so she added them to her contacts.

Francine asked enthusiastically, "Young lady, you were so skilled with the needles. Is there a traditional medicine practitioner in your family?"

Aria thought about Georgina Harris, the woman who used to be her grandmother while she was living with the Kents. Georgina was the only one who showed her any kindness.

She came up with a solid reason. "Yes. My grandmother practices traditional medicine. She runs a care center."

"No wonder. I'll introduce some clients to her soon!"

"Sure." Aria thanked Francine politely.

Aria didn't have the airs of a renowned doctor at all. She was a legend hiding in plain sight.

The boy hadn't spoken at all since he talked to Jimmy. He just sat there quietly as he observed everything. His eyes were very bright, and he looked really adorable.

After she finished talking to everyone else, Aria looked at him. "Are you still lightheaded?"

He shook his head. Then, he looked up at Aria. "Miss, I'm Miles. Thanks for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would've been dead."

Miles York's voice was very sweet. His eyes were round, and his face was very smooth and cute. He did a cute little bow when he thanked Aria.

"Your name is Miles? Where is your family?" Aria asked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're all inside!" Miles said as he pointed behind him at the Caesar Hotel. Not just anyone could get in there at the moment.

Aria held Jeffrey's gaze for a long moment, then turned without another word. Landon fell into step beside her as they walked toward the black sedan parked nearby. He pulled the door open for her, shielding the top of her head with one hand as she settled into the seat. He then circled around to the other side. The window slid up, but Aria kept waving at Jeffrey through the glass. She didn't stop until the car pulled away and the base gates shrank into the distance. Jeffrey's tall figure grew smaller and smaller until it finally disappeared from sight, and only then did she look away. The engine hummed in a low sound as the car left the military base behind and accelerated toward the city. Landon glanced over at her before speaking in a gentle, soothing tone. "Don't worry. Everything's going to be fine." Aria turned to the window. The scenery rushed past in reverse, shifting from the empty roads on the outskirts to the bustle of downtown, where traffic thickened, and pedestri

Landon rose to his feet and walked to the door. Standing upright with his back to Aria and Jeffrey, he swept his piercing gaze across the room. His presence was restrained, yet overwhelmingly oppressive. Anyone who dared to approach would instinctively be driven back by his aura. He was creating an absolutely secure space for Jeffrey and Aria—a place where Jeffrey could face the memories of his past life without fear or distraction.Jeffrey suddenly felt a gentle warmth spread across the back of his hand. It traveled up his arm and through every part of his body. The dull ache and pressure throbbing in his head eased almost immediately. But in the next second, the warmth surged straight to the top of his skull. His entire body stiffened, and his pupils contracted sharply. Instinctively, he tried to pull his hand away, but Aria held it tightly. "Don't move, Jeffrey. Relax and don't resist. Otherwise, it won't work," Aria said calmly. In the next second, Jeffrey felt as though hi

Jeffrey took several steps forward and stood between the sentry and Aria. He first turned to Aria, his gaze gentle as he carefully studied his younger sister. Warmth filled his expression, carrying the natural closeness of family. After that, he turned to the sentry in charge of verification. His tone was steady, firm, and confident, leaving no room for doubt. "She's my sister, Aria. She came to visit me."After speaking, Jeffrey looked toward Landon, who stood beside Aria. He observed him with a measured gaze. Landon remained tall and composed, his presence calm and refined. Even in front of a commanding soldier like Jeffrey, he showed no trace of unease. Beneath Landon's calm expression lay an unwavering steadiness. His demeanor was refined and distant, yet it softened whenever he looked at Aria. There was unmistakable protectiveness in his eyes. Jeffrey understood their relationship immediately. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he turned back to the sentry. He explained

At the mention of Landon, a flicker of caution flashed through Percy's eyes. From the memories he had regained in this life, he knew Landon had always remained by Aria's side. Landon wielded considerable power and was utterly devoted to her. With him around her, there was little to worry about.Since Percy's memories had awakened, his judgment of people had become even sharper than before. He looked at Landon standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze darkening slightly. In the end, Percy suppressed his unease. He looked at Aria and gave a firm nod. His thin lips parted as he spoke in a determined voice. "Alright. I'll do as you say. I'll wait for your news at the firm. Take care of yourself. If there's even the slightest danger, contact me immediately. No matter when or where, I'll be there as fast as I can."Percy's eyes were filled with protectiveness and concern as he looked at her. After a thousand years of protecting her, it had become second nature to him. Even if he c

When Aria's fingertips brushed against Percy's clothing, both of them paused slightly. A quiet warmth rose in their hearts at the same time. This familiar feeling, one that had crossed countless reincarnations, was already etched into their very bones. No words were needed. They simply understood what the other was thinking.Percy lowered his gaze to her. His fingers gently traced the back of her hand as he felt the warmth of her palm against his. His eyes carried the same indulgent care they always had, just like on Mount Hollowlight, where he had always been her safest refuge.Percy didn't rush her and simply waited. Since Aria had awakened his memories, he knew there must still be more she needed to tell him about their sect and their people. Now that they had finally reunited after a thousand years, they would face every storm ahead together. After a moment, Aria finally steadied herself. Her voice rose from tears into clarity and resolve, yet it never fully lost its softness or

Aria's heart leaped into her throat. The gentle aura around her vanished, replaced by a surge of worry. She shot up from her seat and rushed over to the couch. As she moved, the hem of her clothes brushed against the armrest, stirring a faint breeze. Leaning forward quickly, she reached out with trembling fingertips toward Percy's wrist. Her cool fingers lightly touched his pulse, feeling the warmth of his skin. She applied just enough pressure to check his condition. His pulse was steady, strong, and unhurried. It resembled the calm rhythm of someone in a deep sleep, far steadier than it had been when he was under stress. Only then did Aria calm down. She let out a deep breath, withdrew her hand, and straightened up as she looked down at Percy lying on the couch. She knew he had heard everything she said. He was in the process of recovering his memories. The sharp and rational gaze he usually carried was hidden behind his closed eyes, softening his entire presence. He looked

No young woman would want to become their family's breadwinner at such a young age. Life had dealt Aria a cruel hand. Landon paused.
