Chapter 6 Teaching Him a Lesson

Author: Night Eleven
Jimmy had always thought that the common folk were beneath him. He didn't notice that Aria's gaze changed as she looked up. Viciousness and contempt filled her eyes.

She casually toyed with a piece of candy in her palm. Then, she flicked toward Jimmy.

He felt his knee give out as he fell to the ground.

"Ah!" The pain caused him to frown.

He tried to get up but realized that he couldn't move his body at all. He couldn't talk, and his hands wouldn't budge.

It felt like his movements had been sealed with the attack.

Aria walked up to him and said calmly, "As a medical student, you failed miserably at determining the patient's symptoms, and you even declared a verdict without a second thought.

"Being a doctor doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. It's a job for you to help people in need. You're unskilled and unethical. Now that you're on your knees, I'll accept your apology. Consider this a lesson I'm teaching you in your mentor's stead."

"You!" Jimmy's eyes were filled with hatred.

Aria leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Since you're such a shameless person, it'll probably be okay if you remain on your knees here for a couple of hours."

"What did you do to me? I want to call the cops! I have been assaulted!" Jimmy yelled.

Aria smiled. "And who can prove anything? Mr. Cornell, you got on your knees yourself. I didn't even touch you."

"I know right? He deserves that!"

The people in the crowd felt great satisfaction seeing Jimmy in that state.

"The young lady didn't do anything. Stop lying!"

That was the truth. He was the one who refused to help the boy. He was also the one who was running his mouth after Aria provided treatment for the boy.

He was also the one who had been cursing at everyone in the crowd and was shameless enough to refuse to apologize. He was a true disgrace to the medical profession.

Did he really think he could just say all those things without repercussions? He even tried to blame Aria for his condition.

The women in the crowd started to yell, "Everyone, come and take a look! There's an unskilled medical student here. He's on his knees to apologize right now!"

"You! All of you!" Jimmy's face was flushed, and his breath was labored.

That was why people didn't mess with the ordinary citizens who were brave, kind, and despised delinquency. Jimmy was a fool for being so domineering in front of them.

The more people looked at him, the lower Jimmy's head hung. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him up. He was afraid that someone would recognize him.

The malice in his eyes grew as he looked at Aria.

They were both in the medical industry. So, they were bound to meet again someday. He swore he would get back at her the next time they met.

Aria didn't spare him another glance. Besides, if they crossed paths again, she didn't mind breaking his legs.

Quite a lot of the older people in the crowd asked for Aria's contact information. They had seen how she performed acupuncture on the boy.

It was clear that she was an extremely skilled doctor. They were determined to secure her contact information.

Aria didn't turn any of them down, so she added them to her contacts.

Francine asked enthusiastically, "Young lady, you were so skilled with the needles. Is there a traditional medicine practitioner in your family?"

Aria thought about Georgina Harris, the woman who used to be her grandmother while she was living with the Kents. Georgina was the only one who showed her any kindness.

She came up with a solid reason. "Yes. My grandmother practices traditional medicine. She runs a care center."

"No wonder. I'll introduce some clients to her soon!"

"Sure." Aria thanked Francine politely.

Aria didn't have the airs of a renowned doctor at all. She was a legend hiding in plain sight.

The boy hadn't spoken at all since he talked to Jimmy. He just sat there quietly as he observed everything. His eyes were very bright, and he looked really adorable.

After she finished talking to everyone else, Aria looked at him. "Are you still lightheaded?"

He shook his head. Then, he looked up at Aria. "Miss, I'm Miles. Thanks for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would've been dead."

Miles York's voice was very sweet. His eyes were round, and his face was very smooth and cute. He did a cute little bow when he thanked Aria.

"Your name is Miles? Where is your family?" Aria asked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're all inside!" Miles said as he pointed behind him at the Caesar Hotel. Not just anyone could get in there at the moment.

Aria didn't waste time. "Mr. Revelare, I need your help with something. This might be a national security issue." "National security?" Tobias dropped his casual tone. "Is someone making a move against Farshya?" "Pretty much." Aria lowered her voice. "You know about Farshya's drakonic fortune, right? Someone wants to steal it for themselves." Tobias' eyes sharpened after hearing this. "That's serious. Very few people know about Farshya's fortune. The government has never leaked anything about it." "That's not all." Aria frowned. "Angladus and Athara want to hit us from both sides. They're working with an arcane practitioner. The practitioner will help them take Portfall, and in return, he gets Farshya's drakonic fortune. "Based on what we've got so far, that practitioner is searching for a sacred relic in Portfall. If he finds it, Farshya's drakonic fortune disappears with it." Tobias' voice turned grave. He said, "I need to report this to the government authorities. If they

When the team leads saw Aria's message, they immediately dropped whatever they were doing to report in. "Boss, we're all here! We're ready for orders!" Aria checked the screen. The headcount matched, so everyone was present. She posted the situation on their channel. "This mission's huge. Each team lead will take five members and spread out to the barriers across Farshya. Guard them in secret. "If you spot any unknown personnel approaching, don't wait for permission—arrest them immediately. If they resist, grab them first and ask questions later!" The team leads immediately responded, "Yes, ma'am!" "I knew it had to be something big for Boss to gather us all together. Otherwise, she'd rather let us sit around doing nothing." "Finally, some real action! The last time was when we hunted down the Darkwarden at the border. I haven't seen that kind of operation in forever!" Aria read their messages and drifted into memories. She still remembered the Darkwarden clearly. Back

Asher couldn't stop thinking about his parents. However, due to his current identity, he didn't dare call them. If they found out he was still alive and it ruined Feran's plan, he'd never be able to go back to them. Aria took the phone from him. "Your turn." "Alright, I'll talk." Hope sparked in Asher's eyes. "That story you told earlier—yeah, that was about me. My boss really was going to kill me along with those other nine people. But just as he was about to do it, a man in a black robe appeared with someone else. "He told my boss he'd found the tenth person. That's the only reason my boss let me live. He took my silicone mask and put it on that other man instead. "Soon, he brought me to Portfall after that whole fake death thing." Aria looked up. "Who is he?" "I..." Asher trailed off. "Honestly, I don't know who he is. Everything about him—his build, his looks—it all matches that political leader, Feran Maynard. But the stuff he does behind closed doors is nothing like w

Sam answered Aria, "Mission accepted!" Sam looked thrilled as he stood next to Chauncey. He waved his fist in front of Chauncey's face. Chauncey swallowed hard, clearly terrified. He really had been beaten enough. Ever since he'd started working in Portfall, he'd never met anyone who just started swinging their fists without talking. Everyone who met him always showed respect. Aria smirked a little. "What are you guys planning to do in Portfall?" Right after Aria said that, Sam was already ready to throw his first punch. "Uh..." Chauncey's eyes filled with terror as he stared at Sam's fist. "Don't you already know? Why ask me—" The second he finished, Sam slapped him across his face. "Who said you could talk to my boss like that? Answer whatever she asks!" Chauncey gritted his teeth against the pain. "Gambling, organ trafficking, stirring up chaos in Portfall." "Is that all?" Aria's gaze on him remained calm. "Think harder." Chauncey's eyes widened. There was still th

Meanwhile, a car was parked a few blocks away from the Vanderbilt Hotel. The man inside kept waiting for Chauncey to show up. But after ages of waiting, everyone inside had scattered, and Chauncey never came. Something felt wrong, so he quickly drove away. After a while, the car stopped. He got out and pushed through the door. "Sir, I waited there forever. Chauncey never showed." "What?" Feran turned around. "But Chauncey said he'd hide his identity and put a double on stage. If he didn't meet you, someone probably grabbed him." The man's face changed. "Sir, we need to find him fast. He knows too much. This could get messy." "No rush." Feran clasped his hands behind his back. "Chauncey's important, but not so important that we can't lose him. He finished his job anyway. The stock profits will all hit the offshore accounts." The man's voice dropped. "But he's seen me. We're screwed if he identifies me." Feran waved his hand and produced a mask. "Wear this. Nobody will reco

Aria spoke with a cool and clear voice. "Starting now, the Chamber of Commerce won't be controlled by foreign interests anymore. We're severing all ties with foreign organizations and will no longer provide them with assistance. "That goes for all of you. You're out of the Chamber if you break this rule. "This was my great-grandfather's vision when he founded the Chamber. Everyone should know what lines not to cross. We will never sell out for a quick buck. "There's going to be a major shakeup in Portfall. You'll get to stay in the Chamber if you pass the test. We can all make money together, but only within Farshya." Rollo, Sawyer, and the others backed her up loudly. "Ms. Carver, we're with you all the way!" A few people's faces fell. They'd figured once Chauncey went down, someone else would step up and keep the money flowing. They never expected Aria to cut off their cash cow the second she took charge. "Ms. Carver, I'm surprised that you're already doing this after you
