Chapter 5 Acupuncture Works

Author: Night Eleven
Aria stuck the first needle into the boy without any hesitation.

The boy immediately frowned. It was like he was regaining his consciousness. It looked like he was struggling as his brows furrowed even deeper.

Someone in the crowd yelled, "He's waking up!"

Jimmy was stunned. His face grew pale. "This can't be…"

How did she pull that off? Just one needle? Could a person really regain consciousness from that?

Aria raised her hand again. Her gaze was focused, and she looked very composed.

She stuck the second needle into the boy's fingertips to draw some blood.

Right after she did that, the boy opened his eyes. His pupils were dark and round, while his eyelashes were extraordinarily long.

He glanced at Aria quietly, but his face was still quite pale.

Everyone in the crowd was stunned.

Francine spoke up, "Young lady, you healed with a few pokes of the needle?"

Aria applied some light pressure on the needle. She saw that the bloodletting was done, so she removed the needle and pressed a cotton ball on the wound to stop the bleeding.

"Madam, it's not that simple. Applying acupuncture to the fingertips can help with dissipating the heat. He was inflicted with heat stroke, which was caused by the high temperature. I just helped him cool down with acupuncture."

"Spare me the theatrics. That kid hasn't spoken a word since he regained consciousness. You probably left him with some side effects with your treatment!" Jimmy snorted.

Francine was a little annoyed. "The boy has already regained consciousness. Why are you talking about side effects? Are you just trying to get out of apologizing to the young lady?"

"That's none of your business!" Jimmy looked at Francine and suddenly sneered. "I understand now. You're all in on this. You pulled me here, and she's trying to scam me.

"This is an organized scam, isn't it? I knew traditional medicine practitioners were all scum."

Aria's expression grew cold when she heard that. She was about to raise her hand.

Then, the boy spoke up in a weak but icy tone, "Traditional medicine has always been an essential part of Farshya's culture. You're a lousy doctor, sir. You should put more effort into studying."

"You…" Jimmy was at a loss for words. The boy spoke up right after he said he wasn't healed. The boy even spoke out against him. It was clear that the boy wasn't on his side.

Francine burst out into laughter. "Hey, kid. He's talking about you. You should put more effort into studying."

"I won't waste my breath with you bottom feeders anymore. You're just a group of peasants," Jimmy said in disdain.

Aria flicked a needle in his direction. It brushed past his face and got stuck in a tree nearby.

Such a violent display caused Jimmy to freeze up. Even his legs felt like they were about to give out.

Aria smiled as she said casually, "Don't you think you've forgotten about something?"

She was just a young woman, but she had a very vicious and commanding presence, which caused Jimmy to feel fear.

He tried to keep his cool. "What did I forget?"

"An apology," Aria said as she tapped on her phone. She looked devilishly charming.

Jimmy didn't want to do that. So, he said arrogantly, "Everyone makes mistakes. I don't have any more time to waste with a traditional medicine practitioner like you."

Francine couldn't stand his attitude anymore. "Is this how a student of Dr. Salome Gunther would act? You lost a bet to that young woman, and yet you refuse to apologize? Such ethics…"

"What's wrong with my ethics? Who here can prove I lost a bet to her? None of you will ever have enough money to pay for Dr. Gunther's treatment.

"Me being here and providing free medical services is an honor for all of you. How dare you peasants keep babbling about such nonsense? Don't you dare cause trouble here! Do you even know where you are right now?"

Francine's hands trembled in anger. "You… You!"

Jimmy snorted. He looked at all of them with utter disdain. They were in a modern society. He didn't believe that Aria would dare to do anything to him.

The two men had skin so pale it looked diseased, not a trace of color anywhere on their bodies. No spiritual energy radiated from them at all, yet they gave off a suffocating sense of deathly energy. "They do seem like puppets. But revenants are more like it." Landon's voice grew heavier. "They have no life signs, and they move stiffly, but they pack that kind of destructive force. And their bodies don't seem affected by regular attacks at all." Aria nodded, and her eyes darkened. "Their strikes carry necrotic blight that can break down power and eat away at flesh. Also... they can't be killed. They don't feel pain." Sam rose to his feet, and the power inside him surged again until it formed a barrier that pushed back the cold deathly energy around them. As he locked his gaze on the two revenants, the relaxed look on his face was gone, replaced by dead seriousness. "So you can't be killed and don't feel pain?" Sam muttered under his breath. Curiosity flickered through his eye

A deafening roar ripped through the air as black-and-white light collided with golden radiance. The shockwave blasted outward, obliterating everything in its path. Half of Suncrest Hall's roof was torn away, and the neighboring halls crumbled. Dust and debris filled the sky, blotting out the sun.Under the impact of the golden fist, the phantom of the Twilight Fish wavered. Its black-and-white glow flickered like a candle in a storm before scattering into the air like stardust.Drazhan's expression darkened. He stumbled backward, the hand gripping the wooden staff trembling slightly. It was clear that the sheer force of the blow had thrown him off balance."Well, well, well. You've got some skill. Since you're courting death, I'll gladly grant it to you!" Peregrine muttered. Surprise flashed across his face before hardening into a cruel grin. Power flared around him as his hands formed mystic seals. "Solar Inferno!"A massive golden sun blazing with terrifying heat materialized

"Marcellus!" Oberon and the elder on the right, Anulap Oaken, shouted at the same time. Immediately, they lunged toward Sam. Each of them summoned their arcane implements. Oberon held an Eight Trigrams Mirror. Arcane symbols flowed across its surface, radiating a dense defensive aura. Meanwhile, Anulap wielded a silver duster. Its strands gleamed with a cold, lethal light. "Trinity Manifestation, go!" Oberon roared. Although Marcellus had lost, he still attempted to form a simplified version of the manifestation with the two of them in hopes of trapping Sam. The Eight Trigrams Mirror and the silver whisk erupted in dazzling brilliance. Their lights intertwined, forming a massive dome that sealed Sam inside. Arcane symbols flickered across its surface , releasing a powerful restraining force. Despite being trapped, Sam showed no sign of panic. If anything, he looked excited. He glanced at the flickering symbols and grinned. "Do you really think this useless dome can hold me?

Landon steadied Aria by the arm. A few drops of blood had splattered across his black suit, making him look even taller and more imposing. After scanning the area to ensure the coast was clear, he spoke indifferently. "All clear. The Suncrest Sect's main gate is up ahead. We should get going."Nodding, Aria looked toward the depths of the woods. At the far end of the Forest of Broken Souls, a towering peak rose through the mist. Its slopes were lined with palaces and pavilions rising in neat rows. This was the Suncrest Sect's main mountain.Sunlight illuminated the plaque above the gate. The gold letters spelling "Suncrest Sect" gleamed with a cold, commanding presence. The three continued along the narrow forest path. Dry leaves crackled beneath their feet, breaking the forest's silence. From time to time, they passed green-robed arcane seekers who had failed to escape and now lay sprawled on the ground. When they saw Aria and her group, they shuddered and scrambled away. Thei

A purple-robed arcane seeker sneered. "If you don't want people to know, you shouldn't have done it in the first place. The Greenshade Guild has always been on good terms with us. You wiped them out, which made you our enemy. Today, you'll be buried in the Forest of Broken Souls."With that, he waved his hand and barked, "Attack!"The apprentices around him moved at once. They summoned their arcane implements—longswords, Soulscripts, and flying daggers. Each weapon pulsed with sharp, violent energy as it was hurled toward Aria and her group. The forest was filled with the sharp whistle of blades cutting through the air. Streaks of light crossed overhead, weaving into a dense web of attacks that sealed off every path of escape.Aria's eyes darkened as she prepared to strike. However, Sam had already stepped forward, blocking the way with his body. He looked up at her, his eyes shining with excitement. "Boss, let me handle this. With this many people, I can finally get some exerci

"You're seeking death!" the apprentice on the left, Bramwell Gallow, shouted. In one swift motion, he yanked out a yellow Soulscript with his right hand. The Soulscript was covered in complicated arcane symbols written in cinnabar, each one humming with scorching spiritual energy."This is a Fire Talisman. Let's see how you like being burned alive!" His fingers flicked as he murmured an incantation. The Soulscript burst into orange flames as he hurled it toward Sam's back.At the same time, the apprentice on the right, Zev Crownhart, made his move. He produced an identical Fire Talisman and threw it without hesitation. The two flaming Soulscripts streaked through the air in intersecting arcs, sealing off Sam's path of escape.Fire Talismans were powerful weapons among the Suncrest Sect's apprentices. For anyone else, a direct hit would tear flesh at best and burn meridians at worst, leaving them completely unable to fight back. To the two apprentices, using a pair of Fire Talism
