Chapter 5 Acupuncture Works

Author: Night Eleven
Aria stuck the first needle into the boy without any hesitation.

The boy immediately frowned. It was like he was regaining his consciousness. It looked like he was struggling as his brows furrowed even deeper.

Someone in the crowd yelled, "He's waking up!"

Jimmy was stunned. His face grew pale. "This can't be…"

How did she pull that off? Just one needle? Could a person really regain consciousness from that?

Aria raised her hand again. Her gaze was focused, and she looked very composed.

She stuck the second needle into the boy's fingertips to draw some blood.

Right after she did that, the boy opened his eyes. His pupils were dark and round, while his eyelashes were extraordinarily long.

He glanced at Aria quietly, but his face was still quite pale.

Everyone in the crowd was stunned.

Francine spoke up, "Young lady, you healed with a few pokes of the needle?"

Aria applied some light pressure on the needle. She saw that the bloodletting was done, so she removed the needle and pressed a cotton ball on the wound to stop the bleeding.

"Madam, it's not that simple. Applying acupuncture to the fingertips can help with dissipating the heat. He was inflicted with heat stroke, which was caused by the high temperature. I just helped him cool down with acupuncture."

"Spare me the theatrics. That kid hasn't spoken a word since he regained consciousness. You probably left him with some side effects with your treatment!" Jimmy snorted.

Francine was a little annoyed. "The boy has already regained consciousness. Why are you talking about side effects? Are you just trying to get out of apologizing to the young lady?"

"That's none of your business!" Jimmy looked at Francine and suddenly sneered. "I understand now. You're all in on this. You pulled me here, and she's trying to scam me.

"This is an organized scam, isn't it? I knew traditional medicine practitioners were all scum."

Aria's expression grew cold when she heard that. She was about to raise her hand.

Then, the boy spoke up in a weak but icy tone, "Traditional medicine has always been an essential part of Farshya's culture. You're a lousy doctor, sir. You should put more effort into studying."

"You…" Jimmy was at a loss for words. The boy spoke up right after he said he wasn't healed. The boy even spoke out against him. It was clear that the boy wasn't on his side.

Francine burst out into laughter. "Hey, kid. He's talking about you. You should put more effort into studying."

"I won't waste my breath with you bottom feeders anymore. You're just a group of peasants," Jimmy said in disdain.

Aria flicked a needle in his direction. It brushed past his face and got stuck in a tree nearby.

Such a violent display caused Jimmy to freeze up. Even his legs felt like they were about to give out.

Aria smiled as she said casually, "Don't you think you've forgotten about something?"

She was just a young woman, but she had a very vicious and commanding presence, which caused Jimmy to feel fear.

He tried to keep his cool. "What did I forget?"

"An apology," Aria said as she tapped on her phone. She looked devilishly charming.

Jimmy didn't want to do that. So, he said arrogantly, "Everyone makes mistakes. I don't have any more time to waste with a traditional medicine practitioner like you."

Francine couldn't stand his attitude anymore. "Is this how a student of Dr. Salome Gunther would act? You lost a bet to that young woman, and yet you refuse to apologize? Such ethics…"

"What's wrong with my ethics? Who here can prove I lost a bet to her? None of you will ever have enough money to pay for Dr. Gunther's treatment.

"Me being here and providing free medical services is an honor for all of you. How dare you peasants keep babbling about such nonsense? Don't you dare cause trouble here! Do you even know where you are right now?"

Francine's hands trembled in anger. "You… You!"

Jimmy snorted. He looked at all of them with utter disdain. They were in a modern society. He didn't believe that Aria would dare to do anything to him.

"Stand still." Aria's voice was low and sharp, and her body stiffened. The sound didn't seem natural.Landon and Madden stopped walking and slowly turned toward her. Lowering her head, Aria shone her flashlight on the steps beneath her feet. There was a small dent—it seemed she had triggered some sort of trap. Holding her breath, she slowly lifted her foot. The moment she did, rocks came crashing down from the ceiling, and the walls on either side began to close in. The entire space shrank in an instant."Run!"Aria seized Landon's hand and dragged Madden along as she sprinted to the third floor. Sam was right behind them, moving swiftly. The walls behind them were closing in faster and faster, and rocks continued to rain down from above. Madden, old and weary, was falling behind. It looked like the walls were about to crush him."Sam, grab Mr. Ahern and run," Aria instructed, glancing over her shoulder. Without hesitation, Sam hoisted Madden onto his shoulders and bolted

It was true that they were in the FBI headquarters, but Aria's anger had already reached a breaking point. When Sam heard that, he shrugged off his backpack and began hacking on his laptop.Wesson frowned when he realized Aria wasn't bluffing. "Wait, let's talk this out. If you kill me now, you won't get away either."Aria replied coolly, "Do you know you can die without anyone even touching you? Let me show you what that feels like."Wesson froze. "Listen, what happened to your family wasn't my doing. I only knew about it. I wasn't involved. He's the one you should kill."Aria's gaze darkened. "You were so arrogant a moment ago. What happened? I wonder why Sylas chose to partner with a coward like you."She was only keeping up the act because the surveillance cameras were still running. The moment Sam stopped typing and said the cameras were disabled, Aria immediately leaped to her feet. She clamped her hand around Wesson's throat and slammed him against the wall. "Tell me.

The vortex swelled and enclosed Warren, Fiona, and Homer.Just as it was about to swallow them, a gust of wind scattered it. The wind carried the presence of a primordial beast that seemed to frighten the restless souls trapped in the vortex."Who's there?" Sylas frowned and looked around.Finding no one, he asked again, "Who did that? Show yourself."A crow in a nearby tree flapped its wings in Sylas' direction. After hearing Sylas, it stopped and croaked, "I'm not someone you can afford to cross. If you value your life, leave now. Or…"Sylas tried to spot the speaker, but the voice seemed to come from every direction. Whoever could speak like that clearly possessed power that rivaled his own."It seems like you're here to save them." Sylas tried to look relaxed, clasping his hands behind his back. "Fine. If you're so keen on saving them, come out and face me. Don't be so mysterious."The crow fluttered its wings. It didn't feel confident enough to take Sylas head-on. Although

Everyone knew how close the Carver and York families were. Warren could only hope that the Yorks were not the next target."I'll call the Yorks," Warren said calmly. He took out his phone and rang Titus, but no one answered. Something flashed in Warren's eyes. "Something might have happened. Fergus, go check on them. We'll stay here with Homer."Fergus nodded. "Okay. I'm going now."Warren waved his hands. "Be careful. Tell me immediately if anything happens.""Got it, Grandpa." Fergus moved to his car and drove off.The duel between Sylas and Homer had drawn a crowd. People filmed from a safe distance—few mortals had seen such power. The shockwaves and gusts from the clash were exactly the kind of footage that would go viral.Fiona helped Warren sit down. "Dad, do you think we're getting in Homer's way?"Warren glanced at the duel. "No. We're far enough. If Homer wins, we're safe. If he falls, we go with him."Fiona hesitated, then said, "Okay. We'll stay with Homer."Warre

Thinking the housekeeper, Judith Warclox, had returned from grocery shopping, Fiona called out, "Judith, you're back early."However, there was no response. Puzzled, Fiona turned around and saw several men standing at the doorway. It was Aria's brothers, Fergus, Rafael, and Jeffrey. "Mom, Grandpa, we're home!" the trio chorused, their arms filled with gifts. Fiona smiled. "I thought you all were busy. Why the sudden visit?"Fergus grinned. "Well, we're not as busy as the others. We heard Grandpa hasn't been feeling well, so we brought some supplements to help him recover."Warren looked pleased. "It's good to have you all back. It just feels strange not seeing you for so long."Jeffrey leaned down to speak to him. "Grandpa, are you watching the news again? Don't worry. Aria is fine. She'll come back once things settle down."Warren rapped his knuckles lightly on Jeffrey's head. "You really had to say it out loud, huh?"Fergus and Rafael chimed in, "Jeffrey is right. Grandpa

From the very first time Wesson crossed paths with Aria and the others, he had indeed sent someone to investigate their backgrounds. However, all he managed to uncover was that Landon was the head of the York family, and Aria was the only daughter of the Carver family.By now, Wesson no longer saw them as ordinary civilians. Judging by how they operated, they seemed more like members of a secretive government unit from Farshya.Across the globe, Wesson prided himself on knowing nearly every government agency—except those of Farshya. He only knew the ones on record, while whatever lay hidden beneath remained an enigma.Aria looked up. "You're such a clever man, Mr. Laker. Don't tell me you have no clue."Wesson shook his head. "I really don't know. Your country's departments are far too secretive. I can only assume you belong to one of its hidden branches, but I know nothing about the specifics."Aria's tone softened as she swiftly pulled open a drawer, revealing a small recordin
