Viola’s POV
The information from my father was almost unfathomable. I knew some of it, like Dalia not being my mother given Vex’s memories. It became clear to me though that my father had no idea what Dalia had done to me. To Vex. My blood was boiling.I wanted to tell him so badly. But Derek was right. There was no way that I could without proof. It didn’t matter that he loved me, because he loved Dalia too. He was heartbroken when my mother left and even more so when she died.
But, I did learn something new. A hunter.‘Vex? Anything to add to that?’ I asked her as I walked across the grounds. She gave a mental head shake that I could feel. Having a wolf was so interesting.‘Viola, why don’t we talk to Cade again?’‘I don’t know Vex, I’m worried about involving him.’‘Well I trust Cade.’I rolled my eyes. ‘You know I didn’t mean it like that.’ My mind moved to Trenton. ‘Why do you suppose our eyes are red like his when you are there? Do you think it’s a hunter thing? He was pretty big too. Dad said that hunters were bigger.’‘I think you’re awfully curious about a guy who was initially going to get rid of me.’ Vex huffed.I smiled. I knew she was practically jelly near his wolf, pretending to be disinterested. Near Derek there was electricity, and I couldn’t deny our attraction, but he was more calm, a gentleness and a touchstone when we felt chaotic. Trenton was more dangerous, unpredictable even, we liked that too.I shook off the thoughts as Derek came near us. He strode up with a smile and grin that said he had information.I smiled back not able to help it. His smile just made everyone smile.“Guess what I found out from Cade?” He rubbed his hands together.“Not something bad I hope.” I squished my brows together. “Was it about my mom?”His smile dimmed just a little. “No, but I did learn some interesting things about hunters. More specifically, the fact that there were only three bloodlines.”My eyes widened in surprise. “Three? That’s not a very large number.” I started to feel some hope rise in my chest.“Yeah, three packs carry the bloodline, they were the Midnight Pack, the Trinity Pack, and the Daemon Pack.”None were from Shadow Pack. “So that means the hunter aspect came from my mom also.” I started pacing in the courtyard by the fountain. Then recalled the rest of his words, and how he kept saying was and were rather than they are. I stopped and looked at him. “Why do you refer to the hunters as past tense? What aren’t you saying Derek?”He sighed. “Most of the hunters were wiped out about thirty years ago. They were dangerous to rogues, to people who had higher authority.”I shook my head back and forth. “But I don’t understand. How were they dangerous, I get that they hunted and had keener senses, I feel like that would be an asset to most packs. Particularly when dealing with rogues.”“I know, but they had other abilities, they could see things that others couldn’t. I don’t completely understand the logistics of what they could or couldn’t see, some kind of aura maybe, darkness surrounding someone’s soul. Some of their abilities were similar to witches.”I took a deep breath in and then let it out, desperately trying to process.“This is why my mother was killed, wasn’t it?”“More than likely, yes. But Viola, it isn’t-” Derek was cut off at some commotion by the gates. Someone was coming. My father appeared out of nowhere heading to the gates. “Open the gates!” He shouted at the guards. His pace quickening, I followed wondering what was happening given my father’s sense of urgency. The gates opened to reveal an entire pack outside of the gates. They bore the mark of the Trinity pack. A mark my father requested all packs to wear upon arrival to Shadow Pack.In front of the rest was a man who was similar-looking to Trenton, black hair, tall, similar face structure, but his eyes were blue. He held someone in his arms who’d been severely wounded. It was impossible to see who it was or if it was male or female. There was blood everywhere.“Get Amy!” My father yelled as one of our fastest runners ran to the hospital. “Alpha Jake, what has happened?”“My son was wounded by the rogues on our way here. His healing hasn’t started yet.” The alpha of Trinity Pack looked at me and his eyes widened momentarily before he stepped through. My father walked him to the hospital meeting the pack nurse about halfway to the hospital. Cade and Kiersten, his mate, brought the rest of the pack in and took them to one of the guest quarters. Derek and I went to the hospital with my father as they did.We found them outside of one of the rooms, whoever had been injured was in the room with Amy and her assistant.“Alpha Jake, this is my daughter, Viola, she’s grown quite a bit since you last visited.” The other alpha looked at me, I couldn’t decipher the look on his face.“If I remember correctly, she didn’t have a wolf when I was last here.” My father sighed. “She was bound and poisoned when she was three.”Alpha Jake’s eyes flitted between my father and me. “Well that clearly didn’t take, huh?”“Much to my great pleasure.” I said evenly. I felt Vex trying to break through and was sure my eyes had turned red. She recognized his scent.Jake sighed. “Trenton had ran straight to the wolf attacking us, I was on his heels to help and then there were two others on his flank out of nowhere.” He looked through the window to the hospital room. “My beta helped me take them out and the rest of the pack finished the one Trenton had been gunning for, the big one.”“Trenton? Your son is Trenton?” Derek asked his eyes wide.Jake looked at him curiously. “He is.” His brow furrowed. “What do you know of him?”“He’s my mate.” I said while my body trembled.Jake looked quickly at me then to Derek.“She has two.” Derek answered as he draped an arm over my shoulders as Jake and my father’s eyes widened in surprise.Stella’s POVI couldn’t imagine what Viola must have been going through, but I knew that she would get through it. I had never known someone so strong willed after going through what she had.“You’re different than these fallen angels though, Viola. They fall for a despicable act against what the Night Goddess has created, vampires aren’t really from nature. They were created through something perverse.” I grabbed Viola’s hand and she looked at me, her expression was unreadable.“Well, at least we got you out of the deal.” She smiled at me and dropped my hand, Trenton and Derek both put a hand on her shoulders.I smiled at her, I had never been so accepted in my life. Viola changed everything for me.“Alright, well for now we will not discuss dealing with the fallen angel. We will take our groups and enter the nest from multiple directions to deal with the other rogues.” Alpha Drake finalized the discussion. “This meeting is over.” Everyone filed out, I lingered in the back so I didn
Stella’s POVViola was adamant about me attending this strategy meeting, I tried to tell her no and when she gave her reasoning for why I should, there just wasn’t a reason to say no.I recently found my mate when all of the other packs came to visit, I didn’t approach him, and he didn’t approach me either. Probably because of the vampire thing, but I knew he would be in that meeting and I wasn’t so sure being in the same room as him was a good idea.I sighed, Viola had a become my closest friend here, I didn’t want to tell her no anyway. I debated telling her about who my mate was, I was sure she could help. But it seemed like such a small thing compared to everything we were currently facing. Because of my father. Yup, that was the reason. When I went into the study with Viola and the alpha’s I could feel their eyes and judgment on me. Except for Viola, and maybe Alpha Danner of the Bloodrose Pack, my mate. I glanced at him once to see that he had his eyes trained on me, I couldn’t
Alpha Sigrid“What is your purpose here?” Voldin stood in front of me, glowering. “You killed two of my warriors to get here. Speak!” I commanded.Voldin hissed. “Alpha auras don’t work on Vampire Lords, Sigrid.” Voldin’s teeth lengthened. “If you had more competent warriors, they would not be dead.”I stood up and was in front of him in seconds. “What is your purpose here?” I repeated. Vampires were a pain in the ass to deal with.“My witch cannot do a location spell.” Voldin lifted his head. “I need to find someone of importance.”I laughed at the prospect of him needing a favor from me. So far, much to my displeasure, I have needed his help more often than not. Up to and including taking down Shadow Pack to the point where I could launch a full-blooded attack on Alpha Drake. I knew that Avery was no longer there…but perhaps she left something behind, something that would help me find her location.“Who do you wish to find?”He shook his head at me. “Not your concern. What should co
Avery’s POVThe sliver of light that began forming in my soul was all I needed to confirm that Viola finally had her wolf back. I had been bouncing from town to town, mostly rural areas, but it was all I needed to keep myself alive. It had been a whole month, possibly more, since I felt the first slivers of her wolf awakening.I hadn’t made it back to Shadow Pack, and I wasn’t sure that I should. When I left my mate, my love, my home, my heart ached for them every day. I felt the loss when he marked another, though I had rejected him and the pack.He thought I left willingly, and that is what I told Alpha Jake as well. Everyone thought I left of my own volition. Even Drake didn’t question what was happening, didn’t think I would have been forced. My rage bubbled inside of me as I thought of Dalia and Sigrid. How could it not?‘It won’t be much longer now.’ Aliah spoke in my head, comforting me. She always did. She was as angry as I was, and comforted me anyway knowing we would have ou
Viola’s POVAfter marking me, I laid there for a moment with my mates, my body was exhausted. They both had their heads pressed into the marks they put on me as they breathed in my scent. I don’t know how much time had passed that we laid that way, but we snapped out of it when someone began ringing Derek’s doorbell. They both growled as they got up and dressed. I frowned at the sight of their clothes when I remembered that they ripped my clothes off. I sighed. Trenton and Derek grinned realizing my circumstances.“I guess you need clothes, huh?” Derek teased.I growled and sat up, two can play that game. “I guess I could just walk through the middle of the courtyard naked to go and get some.”They both growled possessively making me bite my cheek to hold in my laughter.“Hold on.” Trenton said heading to Derek’s closet. He came out with a light grey t-shirt and shorts.I grumbled at the attire, knowing I would be able to change after I got to the pack house. Derek left to get the d
Viola’s POVRelaxing into my mates at the same time felt more right than I would have ever guessed. More natural than breathing even. They both held one of my hands as my butt was in Derek’s lap, with my legs draped over Trenton.I was getting lost in the sensations roaming my skin as they touched me and held me. The sparks I felt touching them before were nothing to how they felt now, it felt more intense, more intimate. Vex’s idea of both of them marking me together passed through my mind again as they held me. I was drawn to it but it seemed awkward as well, I couldn’t help but picture both of them naked with me, touching and caressing my body.My eyes snapped open when I remembered that they could feel my emotions now. They both looked at me knowingly, with smiles on their faces as a blush crept into my cheeks. I needed to learn how to control myself now, I was an open book! Dammit.I was sure they could smell my arousal on top of the feelings I was getting thinking about them bo
