The Heiress to Shadow Pack

Viola's POVI had thought I was alone, but after three hours of sitting here I still felt chills under my skin, prickling on my neck. I initially chalked it up to my nerves, but as my breath came easier and I started to calm down the sensations were still there. I was being watched.“Who’s there?” I rubbed my arms and pulled my elbows to my sides. I can’t say I got far before I heard the growling behind me.My clammy hands are shaking as he stalks toward me dipping his head low and almost touching the ground. Slowly backing up from him I come to a stop at a tree and rest my palms behind me trying to hide the shaking as if he couldn’t smell the fear. He continues forward as I shrink against the tree and close my eyes so I didn’t have to see what happened next. The putrid smell of his breath is on my face as he growls and I hold in a whimper. A loud explosion has me opening my eyes and looking to the right of where the wolf had me at the tree. He looked in the same direction and his e

Viola’s POVDerek sucked in a breath behind me and gripped me harder, not to hurt me but in some kind of shock. His scent was much stronger, stronger than my mother’s even, but she hadn’t had me encircled in her arms either. It was like smelling the Earth’s sweetest scents. His heart seemed to beat faster than I would expect and I even felt his pulse. I loosened my hands from the sword and Derek set it down with one hand and put his other on my hip as he turned me around to face him.“Do you feel it?” He whispered with wide eyes as he brought his hand from where he dropped the sword to my other hip. “Viola, is she there?” He had moved even closer, my breasts lightly pressed just under his chest. His face was etched with concern.“I, I don’t know.” My head started vibrating in a way that should have been painful but it wasn’t even a little bit. “My head.” I dropped my head into my hands as I started to sway. Although not painful I was getting increasingly light-headed. Derek picked me

Viola’s POVI woke to the smell of rubbing alcohol. Bleary-eyed I looked around. It was the pack infirmary. I sighed. “Great. Just great. All of the falling in training must have seriously fucked me.”Snort. ‘You really think a couple falls in the training room got us here?’ I bolted upright at the voice in my head. The room started spinning as I felt a hand on me. I looked over to see Derek next to me.“Hey, take it easy girl.” He soothed as he guided me to lie back down. The memories came flooding back after that. Drew, the strange guy, uh my mate? Shifting. Ah, oh. ‘Vex?’‘Still here.’ She snorts again.I breathed a sigh of relief. “How long have I been here?” I looked at Derek. His strange intoxicating scent wasn’t overpowering as it had been the day at training, but it was incredibly soothing.“Just a couple of days.” He leaned forward in his chair and rested his folded hands on the cot I currently laid on. “Usually after a first shift you’re five and take a nap for a week. Give

Viola's POVI fell asleep quickly at Derek’s, it surprised me how comfortable I was here. I woke up much earlier than him, I made my way to his kitchen and started some coffee as I waited around. Noticing it was only 4 am I opted to have coffee and read the book Cade had given me. Might as well find something else out about myself.I didn’t often do research, I never actually had the patience for it. Endless reading trying to learn something. The book was thorough, though it didn’t seem to say how or why mating to more than one person was a thing. That was until I reached the end. Bloodlines it read.According to the text, mixed alpha’s were the only ones who could have more than one mate. Reaching up to four of them! Typically the gene passes down through one bloodline, but when that is a hybrid, there was a high chance of being mated to no less than two others. One of which is also always some type of mixed breed. I flipped through the pages some more not finding anything else that

Derek’s POVSeeing Trenton with his hands all over Viola should have made me even more crazed but something kept me from coming unglued on the guy. There was some weird connection between Trenton and I. Clearly having multiple mates is going to be an issue when I wanted Viola to myself, but I couldn’t deny there was an odd urge to be ok with Trenton, like he was part of my pack and I had only just met the guy.I think he felt the same way because other than him choking me momentarily he hadn’t tried laying another hand on me. He even made it a point to show he would be speaking to me about further plans for helping Viola. I needed more information on this mate thing. As far as I knew when someone finds their mate they don’t want to be around anyone else, and they definitely don’t want anyone around their mate like that. But even the small possessive act I had of pulling her to me almost felt weird. Like she needed to be shared with Trenton.Literally fated to be with two. What the he
