LOGINViola’s POV
Derek sucked in a breath behind me and gripped me harder, not to hurt me but in some kind of shock. His scent was much stronger, stronger than my mother’s even, but she hadn’t had me encircled in her arms either. It was like smelling the Earth’s sweetest scents. His heart seemed to beat faster than I would expect and I even felt his pulse. I loosened my hands from the sword and Derek set it down with one hand and put his other on my hip as he turned me around to face him.“Do you feel it?” He whispered with wide eyes as he brought his hand from where he dropped the sword to my other hip. “Viola, is she there?” He had moved even closer, my breasts lightly pressed just under his chest. His face was etched with concern.“I, I don’t know.” My head started vibrating in a way that should have been painful but it wasn’t even a little bit. “My head.” I dropped my head into my hands as I started to sway. Although not painful I was getting increasingly light-headed. Derek picked me up and brought me to the office connected to the training room setting me down in the chair. My breathing quickened and I felt a burning sensation under my skin. Like it was starting to catch on fire. “Derek?” I pleaded not sure what I needed or even wanted other than to know I wasn’t alone.“Breathe, Viola, breathe. She’s trying to break through.” I nodded my head at his words knowing he spoke of my wolf. Then, just like earlier, everything stopped. My breathing slowed and Derek was sitting in front of me on his knees with his hands grabbing my legs and rubbing circles on my thighs.“How often has this been happening?” “It just started this morning when I left for the training rooms.” I replied shakily.“Viola, I think there’s a reason you haven’t had your wolf. Why she isn’t breaking through properly.” He sucked in some air and let it out. “I think you were poisoned. Your wolf. Poisoned and bound. She smelled like she had been bound.”*****I had been sitting in front of the gates to Shadow Pack territory since Derek had the revelation about my wolf. I couldn’t breathe, much less think. Poisoned and bound? Who? Why? The usual questions filled my brain. Derek mind linked my father to meet in person and discuss the situation after he had realized, but I had no idea what that would entail. When he hadn’t had the answers I needed I ran. I didn’t stop until I was outside of the gates. My brain was so muddled, I felt dazed. I had thought I was alone, but after three hours of sitting there I still felt chills under my skin, prickling on my neck. I initially chalked it up to my nerves, but as my breath came easier and I started to calm down the sensations were still there. I was being watched. Instead of going back I stood up and began looking around further into the woods, the sensations under my skin started to feel like crawling.“Who’s there?” I rubbed my arms and pulled my elbows to my sides. I can’t say I got far before I heard the growling behind me. I quickly turned around to see Drew in his wolf form. “What are you doing Drew?” I managed to choke out.He stalked towards me slowly, playing with me. I backed up until I got to a tree, stopping me from going any further. “You’re really going to attack the alpha’s only child?” I tried to sound fearless but it was pointless. He could smell how terrified I was. The sweat from my palms. It didn’t matter that I could hide their violent shaking behind me against this tree. He knew. I closed my eyes and turned my head desperate not to see what happened next. The explosion to our right stopped him in his tracks. Someone, a man, walked from where the explosion came from. His hair blacker than midnight, and his eyes were red. “She’s mine.” He growled.Drew took off after another growl, but not before turning his hateful eyes to look at me one more time.“Looks like you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time Viola. Tsk, tsk, tsk.” He wraps a hand around my throat while pushing my hair back with the other and forces my face up to look at him. “Your mother called for aid, it seems your wolf abilities are becoming a problem.” He puts his head to my collarbone and smells me rubbing his face against me as he does. Once again my senses become heightened as he pins me between himself and the tree. The hand not on my neck moves to my waist as he breathes in my scent. What I couldn’t smell on him moments before he grabbed me suddenly filled my head, the scent of a cool misty breeze, something sweet and intoxicating. I feel him hardening against me.“I, I’m not.” I gasp out trying to think of anything to get him off of me. “I don’t know what you mean.” I say as I try to push myself even closer to the tree, a futile attempt to get away from him and the sensations brewing in my body. “Who are you?”“Mmm, I’m sure you don’t Viola. How could you?” He chuckled. His face moved from my collarbone to my neck and finally my face brushing his cheek against mine. The hand on my waist grips tighter as the sensation of fire begins in my body again, similar to earlier except this time the sensation is stronger. “Your scent when she is there though, so powerful.” His hand moves from my throat to hold the side of my face that his wasn’t on, trying to bring me closer, as if he could when he was practically melting into me. “Getting rid of her will be such a shame.” He kisses my neck as he tangles his hand in my hair.A growl sounds in my head vibrating inside my skull as the man presses closer to me, grinding against me. I gasped as I realized he was supposed to be my mate and that he and my mother had no intention of me having a wolf at all. I hear a hum in his chest pulsing as he lingers against me.Voldin’s POVIt surprised me that Viola took so long to try and escape, it made me believe that she was not in complete control of her powers yet. It also made me certain that she wasn’t entirely sure what she could do yet. With eyes like the Night Goddess, I knew there had to be a connection, I swear when I looked into her eyes it was as the the Moon Goddess herself was staring back at me. Her ability to blow up the door to her room was unsurprising, considering the intel from the attack of Clover Pack, someone dear to her must have been injured or dead for her to burst her power in such a way.I was all to familiar with an angry goddess and what they could be capable of. The only way to control this girl would be to blackmail her with something, someone she loved. Her mate perhaps. The Moon Goddess had two of them, and if Viola is anything like her as I believed, then she would more than likely have a Dyad mate bond as well.Yes, the time I had holding her hostage had given me much
Viola’s POVMy heart was pounding sporadically as I left the place Voldin was holding me. If I would have been in the frame of mind to stop and think, I would have wondered how I escaped so easily, I would have wondered if not leaving would have changed the outcome of what happened next, but you can’t go back in time, and I can’t regret the things I would do out of love.I didn’t know where I was taken, but it didn’t stop the mate bond from driving me to my mates. And when I was within the pack gates, it brought me to the pack hospital. I didn’t change back to my human form, when I entered the room they were in I almost collapsed at the sight.Derek was laying on one of the hospital beds, the scent of blood was heavy in the air, and he was unconscious. I had to watch his chest for several moments before I saw the rise and fall, indicating he was still alive. I whined as I drew closer to the bed. Trenton’s head snapped up as I drew closer. His look was murderous until he realized it w
Avery’s POVA huge commotion broke out as the pack members began fighting each other, even Drake’s mind link wouldn’t stop them. Multiple pack members started shouting, asking for an explanation and some were just fighting to fight it seemed.“I denounce Shadow Pack and reject Alpha Drake as my alpha!” This was yelled by several pack members and you could visibly see their threads of loyalty breaking from Drake.‘Silence!’ I sent my mind link out and they were forcibly stopped, they could not fight a command from an angel hybrid. Those who had denounced the pack even stopped.“Your heiress has been taken as a hostage, I’ve been demanded to step down to save her, make no mistake, I will be back here, as your alpha, the moment we have brought her back. Cease this fighting, immediately. Those who have denounced the pack, leave, now. If you are still loyal to me, to your true luna, Avery, and to Shadow Pack, then I invite you to stay.”Those who had denounced the pack left through the gat
Viola’s POVBefore I opened my eyes I could smell him. The scent had an odd familiarity to it, and yet it was not someone I knew. When I opened my eyes a man with silvery hair and gray eyes was looking back at me. He was tall and thin, but the structure of his face made me think of Stella.I didn’t miss the way his eyes widened in surprise when I opened mine, though I didn’t know why.“Hello sleeping beauty.” His voice was like ice, like a frost you feel in your body when you become too cold.“You must be Voldin.” I slowly pushed myself up from the cot I was laying on. I furrowed my brows. It seemed that the rebels in Shadow Pack were unable to identify who they were truly working for, as they were discussing helping Clover Pack get in. And yet here I was, with Voldin.Ice slid through my veins, I was certainly in trouble now.“Why do you have the eyes of the Night Goddess?” His tone was accusatory.“Well I certainly didn’t choose my eye color when I was born.” The sarcasm leaked from
Viola’s POV“If you’re going to sulk, I can think of other ways for you to enjoy your time.” I spoke in a sultry voice, attempting to make Trenton feel better. He had basically been pouting since we left the lounge. He merely looked at me and then looked away. He sat on the edge of the bed and seemed uninterested in pretty much everything.“Don’t be angry with me love.” I spoke softly as I walked over to him and lightly ran my fingertips over his chest. “Everything is going to be fine. You’ll see.”He gripped my hand and pulled me towards him, making me fall on his lap. Then he put his hands on either side of my face and kissed me desperately. His feelings poured into me, fear, frustration, helplessness. I didn’t know how to make it better, so I kissed him harder, pouring my love and determination into him.I pushed on him so he was laying down on the bed and straddled him. If he wasn’t going to be able to let go, I would need to make him. I broke the kiss and looked at his handsome f
Viola’s POVThe growing absence of loyalty in the pack was making me nervous. I couldn’t fathom an open rebellion against my father. My edginess really showed lately, so I chose to mostly avoid people as much as I was able to.I spent a lot of time going through the journal that Cade had given me. From what I understood, it belonged to someone who was hunting Voldin and other fallen angels. The orbs were used to capture souls, as Cade had said, and as I had witnessed. The one I had captured evil souls of those who could not be killed with an ordinary weapon. They were also capable of causing great harm to a soul, while they could not do any physical damage, they could literally wound, and even break the soul if it was not very powerful. It seemed that this orb is exactly what I would need to deal with Voldin. I kept it hidden for now, it could be utilized by an angel, demon, or god. But to actually wound a soul, you needed to be a god. It was really interesting, the way it worked. Wha
