Viola’s POV

“Why are you doing this?” I asked breathy. “You’re my mate.”

“So I have discovered.” He growls pulling his face away only to bring his lips to mine. I started to kiss him back eagerly and bring my hands to his chest. The growling in my head became louder and stopped suddenly. I froze. He removed his lips from me only to keep his nose touching mine.

“I don’t understand.” I frowned as my body began to shake.

He chuckles and brings his face away from me. “You will.” He lets go and disappears off into the trees.

I dropped to all fours as the shaking becomes convulsive and my bones start breaking, shifting. ‘Hello Viola, I am here now.’ Her voice rumbled. ‘I’m Vex, your wolf. And this is our second shift.’ Her voice trailed off as I completely transform into a wolf.

Shocked I take off at a dead run. My movement faster and stronger than I had ever been. I didn’t stop until I reached the river on the other side of pack territory. I stopped so abruptly that my four legs went down in separate directions.

‘How can this be our second shift if I had never gotten my wolf until now?’ I ask Vex as we lay there. Pushing our limbs under us we walk to the river.

‘We were very small. We were too much, too soon.’

I looked at our reflection in the water. Our eyes were red rather than my usual violet. Our fur whiter than the snow save for a patch of black in the shape of a diamond on our chest. ‘Too soon?’

‘We were three.’

‘So mother poisoned us? Bound us?’

‘Not our real mother.’ She growled.

‘But she had our mate helping her? Why would he do that?’

‘He is the son of the man who helped her before. He wasn’t there.’

I shake my large head trying to process. We stalked back and forth for what felt like forever before I realized how dark it was getting. Running back to the pack gates was effortless, it was like flying. My body began shaking as the bones began shifting and breaking back to our usual form. I began vomiting while on all fours before I hear my father and Derek yelling for me.

“Here.” I croaked. Turning back hadn’t taken away the heightened senses. It seemed like those were going to stay at this point.

Derek reached me first and took his shirt off to cover me up. After slipping my arms through the sleeves he picked me up and widened his eyes. “Alpha Drake!” He called. “I think she shifted.”

My father’s face was above us as I began to drift off. Shifting must make one tired, because I felt like I would go into a coma right there.

Trenton’s POV

I couldn’t believe that the first time my father finally sent me in his place the target had happened to be my mate. Dalia was going to have a major shit storm, tell Jake, and then he’s going to make me into breakfast. I kicked a rock forward to the river.

‘What the hell Trey?’ I ask my wolf.

‘Don’t ask me about it Trenton, I didn’t pick the target.’ I feel him inwardly sigh. ‘She was intoxicating though.’

Before I can agree he’s sending mental pictures in our head of her face. I’d never met a wolf with violet eyes before. Her lips were red and her body fit under mine perfectly. ‘Stop it Trey. We need to think.’

He growls. Her lilac scent hovers before us again, I thought it was because of Trey but as it happened we were suddenly downwind from her. Quickly I went behind a tree to watch her. If it weren’t for her scent I wouldn’t have thought it was her stalking back and forth, she was easily the largest wolf I had ever seen. Bigger than my father and hers. Females, even alpha females, were not typically bigger than any male alpha.

‘She’s not just a wolf.’ Trey says.

I blinked several times as she sped off. He was right. There was no possible way she was just a wolf. ‘Do you think she’s like us?’

‘Maybe, we need to find out if she is Trenton, because if she is then she’s in danger at Shadow Pack.’ Trey sounded nervous and I completely understood where he was coming from. Just our luck to be sent to deal with a woman who ends up being our mate. And not just any wolf either, a hybrid at the very least.

‘Only a few know of our kind Trey, I’m sure it would take Shadow Pack awhile to figure her out if she is like us. She’s probably safe for now. We just need to find out everything we can before we’re freaking out honestly bro.’

Trey sighed. ‘Did you forget that Dalia was the one she needed protection from dude?’ Shit, I totally had. Damn!

‘We need to find her father and talk to him then.’

‘Assuming he isn’t involved.’ Trey mused.

I shook my head. ‘He isn’t, Jake was adamant that we only discuss the contract with Dalia, not her mate.’

Shifting into our large black wolf I sped off towards a safe house where I was to meet Dalia. Hopefully I could get some answers without letting it slip that her daughter was our mate.

After reaching the safe house I sniffed the air to learn that Dalia had already been here waiting for us. ‘Let’s get the show on the road.’ Trey mumbled protectively.

“You’re late Trenton, Jake assured me you would take the contract seriously rather than gallivanting around.” Dalia’s voice was shrill with her frustration. Her golden eyes were glowing showing that her wolf was near the surface.

“Wanted to meet the contract while she was alone, get a good idea of what we’re dealing with.” I answered casually. “What exactly are you wanting done with her?”

Dalia ran a hand through her short brown hair. “Binding her with that spell didn’t seem to work in terms of keeping her that way. That witch assured me it would last a lifetime, not a mere nineteen years.” She grumbled. “Binding won’t work again, I’ve come across some witches in the Clover Pack with an elixir to snuff out a wolf completely.” She stopped pacing and stood in front of me. “I want you to get it for me.”

‘Trenton we can’t do this.’ Trey growls at me.

“Very well, who is my contact?”

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 33

Stella’s POVViola was adamant about me attending this strategy meeting, I tried to tell her no and when she gave her reasoning for why I should, there just wasn’t a reason to say no.I recently found my mate when all of the other packs came to visit, I didn’t approach him, and he didn’t approach me either. Probably because of the vampire thing, but I knew he would be in that meeting and I wasn’t so sure being in the same room as him was a good idea.I sighed, Viola had a become my closest friend here, I didn’t want to tell her no anyway. I debated telling her about who my mate was, I was sure she could help. But it seemed like such a small thing compared to everything we were currently facing. Because of my father. Yup, that was the reason. When I went into the study with Viola and the alpha’s I could feel their eyes and judgment on me. Except for Viola, and maybe Alpha Danner of the Bloodrose Pack, my mate. I glanced at him once to see that he had his eyes trained on me, I couldn’t

Alpha Sigrid“What is your purpose here?” Voldin stood in front of me, glowering. “You killed two of my warriors to get here. Speak!” I commanded.Voldin hissed. “Alpha auras don’t work on Vampire Lords, Sigrid.” Voldin’s teeth lengthened. “If you had more competent warriors, they would not be dead.”I stood up and was in front of him in seconds. “What is your purpose here?” I repeated. Vampires were a pain in the ass to deal with.“My witch cannot do a location spell.” Voldin lifted his head. “I need to find someone of importance.”I laughed at the prospect of him needing a favor from me. So far, much to my displeasure, I have needed his help more often than not. Up to and including taking down Shadow Pack to the point where I could launch a full-blooded attack on Alpha Drake. I knew that Avery was no longer there…but perhaps she left something behind, something that would help me find her location.“Who do you wish to find?”He shook his head at me. “Not your concern. What should co

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 31

Avery’s POVThe sliver of light that began forming in my soul was all I needed to confirm that Viola finally had her wolf back. I had been bouncing from town to town, mostly rural areas, but it was all I needed to keep myself alive. It had been a whole month, possibly more, since I felt the first slivers of her wolf awakening.I hadn’t made it back to Shadow Pack, and I wasn’t sure that I should. When I left my mate, my love, my home, my heart ached for them every day. I felt the loss when he marked another, though I had rejected him and the pack.He thought I left willingly, and that is what I told Alpha Jake as well. Everyone thought I left of my own volition. Even Drake didn’t question what was happening, didn’t think I would have been forced. My rage bubbled inside of me as I thought of Dalia and Sigrid. How could it not?‘It won’t be much longer now.’ Aliah spoke in my head, comforting me. She always did. She was as angry as I was, and comforted me anyway knowing we would have ou

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 30

Viola’s POVAfter marking me, I laid there for a moment with my mates, my body was exhausted. They both had their heads pressed into the marks they put on me as they breathed in my scent. I don’t know how much time had passed that we laid that way, but we snapped out of it when someone began ringing Derek’s doorbell. They both growled as they got up and dressed. I frowned at the sight of their clothes when I remembered that they ripped my clothes off. I sighed. Trenton and Derek grinned realizing my circumstances.“I guess you need clothes, huh?” Derek teased.I growled and sat up, two can play that game. “I guess I could just walk through the middle of the courtyard naked to go and get some.”They both growled possessively making me bite my cheek to hold in my laughter.“Hold on.” Trenton said heading to Derek’s closet. He came out with a light grey t-shirt and shorts.I grumbled at the attire, knowing I would be able to change after I got to the pack house. Derek left to get the d

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 29

Viola’s POVRelaxing into my mates at the same time felt more right than I would have ever guessed. More natural than breathing even. They both held one of my hands as my butt was in Derek’s lap, with my legs draped over Trenton.I was getting lost in the sensations roaming my skin as they touched me and held me. The sparks I felt touching them before were nothing to how they felt now, it felt more intense, more intimate. Vex’s idea of both of them marking me together passed through my mind again as they held me. I was drawn to it but it seemed awkward as well, I couldn’t help but picture both of them naked with me, touching and caressing my body.My eyes snapped open when I remembered that they could feel my emotions now. They both looked at me knowingly, with smiles on their faces as a blush crept into my cheeks. I needed to learn how to control myself now, I was an open book! Dammit.I was sure they could smell my arousal on top of the feelings I was getting thinking about them bo

  • The Heiress to Shadow Pack   Chapter 28

Trenton’s POVWhile Derek and I were getting information from one of the warriors about the different training they do in his pack, Viola’s emotions infiltrated my mind. Irritation, possession, jealousy. I knew Derek felt it too when our eyes widened at each other, because it wasn’t just Viola’s emotions we were feeling, I felt Derek’s as well, and I had a sneaking feeling that he could feel mine. What the hell? We looked to where we had seen Viola a moment ago.She was standing in front of two girls who looked like they were ready to fight her.“Uh, I could clearly feel some jealousy and possessiveness from Viola. Think they were checking out the goods?” Derek gestured to the two of us as he spoke quietly coming closer to my side.“I don’t think there would be any other explanation. Also, how are we able to feel her emotions now, like this, when we couldn’t before? Not to mention each other’s.” I was astonished.“I don’t know, but we need to do something or there will be two dead sh
