MasukViola’s POV
“Why are you doing this?” I asked breathy. “You’re my mate.”“So I have discovered.” He growls pulling his face away only to bring his lips to mine. I started to kiss him back eagerly and bring my hands to his chest. The growling in my head became louder and stopped suddenly. I froze. He removed his lips from me only to keep his nose touching mine. “I don’t understand.” I frowned as my body began to shake. He chuckles and brings his face away from me. “You will.” He lets go and disappears off into the trees.I dropped to all fours as the shaking becomes convulsive and my bones start breaking, shifting. ‘Hello Viola, I am here now.’ Her voice rumbled. ‘I’m Vex, your wolf. And this is our second shift.’ Her voice trailed off as I completely transform into a wolf. Shocked I take off at a dead run. My movement faster and stronger than I had ever been. I didn’t stop until I reached the river on the other side of pack territory. I stopped so abruptly that my four legs went down in separate directions.‘How can this be our second shift if I had never gotten my wolf until now?’ I ask Vex as we lay there. Pushing our limbs under us we walk to the river.‘We were very small. We were too much, too soon.’I looked at our reflection in the water. Our eyes were red rather than my usual violet. Our fur whiter than the snow save for a patch of black in the shape of a diamond on our chest. ‘Too soon?’‘We were three.’ ‘So mother poisoned us? Bound us?’‘Not our real mother.’ She growled.‘But she had our mate helping her? Why would he do that?’‘He is the son of the man who helped her before. He wasn’t there.’I shake my large head trying to process. We stalked back and forth for what felt like forever before I realized how dark it was getting. Running back to the pack gates was effortless, it was like flying. My body began shaking as the bones began shifting and breaking back to our usual form. I began vomiting while on all fours before I hear my father and Derek yelling for me. “Here.” I croaked. Turning back hadn’t taken away the heightened senses. It seemed like those were going to stay at this point. Derek reached me first and took his shirt off to cover me up. After slipping my arms through the sleeves he picked me up and widened his eyes. “Alpha Drake!” He called. “I think she shifted.”My father’s face was above us as I began to drift off. Shifting must make one tired, because I felt like I would go into a coma right there.*****Trenton’s POVI couldn’t believe that the first time my father finally sent me in his place the target had happened to be my mate. Dalia was going to have a major shit storm, tell Jake, and then he’s going to make me into breakfast. I kicked a rock forward to the river. ‘What the hell Trey?’ I ask my wolf.‘Don’t ask me about it Trenton, I didn’t pick the target.’ I feel him inwardly sigh. ‘She was intoxicating though.’Before I can agree he’s sending mental pictures in our head of her face. I’d never met a wolf with violet eyes before. Her lips were red and her body fit under mine perfectly. ‘Stop it Trey. We need to think.’He growls. Her lilac scent hovers before us again, I thought it was because of Trey but as it happened we were suddenly downwind from her. Quickly I went behind a tree to watch her. If it weren’t for her scent I wouldn’t have thought it was her stalking back and forth, she was easily the largest wolf I had ever seen. Bigger than my father and hers. Females, even alpha females, were not typically bigger than any male alpha.‘She’s not just a wolf.’ Trey says. I blinked several times as she sped off. He was right. There was no possible way she was just a wolf. ‘Do you think she’s like us?’‘Maybe, we need to find out if she is Trenton, because if she is then she’s in danger at Shadow Pack.’ Trey sounded nervous and I completely understood where he was coming from. Just our luck to be sent to deal with a woman who ends up being our mate. And not just any wolf either, a hybrid at the very least. ‘Only a few know of our kind Trey, I’m sure it would take Shadow Pack awhile to figure her out if she is like us. She’s probably safe for now. We just need to find out everything we can before we’re freaking out honestly bro.’Trey sighed. ‘Did you forget that Dalia was the one she needed protection from dude?’ Shit, I totally had. Damn! ‘We need to find her father and talk to him then.’‘Assuming he isn’t involved.’ Trey mused.I shook my head. ‘He isn’t, Jake was adamant that we only discuss the contract with Dalia, not her mate.’Shifting into our large black wolf I sped off towards a safe house where I was to meet Dalia. Hopefully I could get some answers without letting it slip that her daughter was our mate. After reaching the safe house I sniffed the air to learn that Dalia had already been here waiting for us. ‘Let’s get the show on the road.’ Trey mumbled protectively.“You’re late Trenton, Jake assured me you would take the contract seriously rather than gallivanting around.” Dalia’s voice was shrill with her frustration. Her golden eyes were glowing showing that her wolf was near the surface.“Wanted to meet the contract while she was alone, get a good idea of what we’re dealing with.” I answered casually. “What exactly are you wanting done with her?”Dalia ran a hand through her short brown hair. “Binding her with that spell didn’t seem to work in terms of keeping her that way. That witch assured me it would last a lifetime, not a mere nineteen years.” She grumbled. “Binding won’t work again, I’ve come across some witches in the Clover Pack with an elixir to snuff out a wolf completely.” She stopped pacing and stood in front of me. “I want you to get it for me.”‘Trenton we can’t do this.’ Trey growls at me.“Very well, who is my contact?”Voldin’s POVIt surprised me that Viola took so long to try and escape, it made me believe that she was not in complete control of her powers yet. It also made me certain that she wasn’t entirely sure what she could do yet. With eyes like the Night Goddess, I knew there had to be a connection, I swear when I looked into her eyes it was as the the Moon Goddess herself was staring back at me. Her ability to blow up the door to her room was unsurprising, considering the intel from the attack of Clover Pack, someone dear to her must have been injured or dead for her to burst her power in such a way.I was all to familiar with an angry goddess and what they could be capable of. The only way to control this girl would be to blackmail her with something, someone she loved. Her mate perhaps. The Moon Goddess had two of them, and if Viola is anything like her as I believed, then she would more than likely have a Dyad mate bond as well.Yes, the time I had holding her hostage had given me much
Viola’s POVMy heart was pounding sporadically as I left the place Voldin was holding me. If I would have been in the frame of mind to stop and think, I would have wondered how I escaped so easily, I would have wondered if not leaving would have changed the outcome of what happened next, but you can’t go back in time, and I can’t regret the things I would do out of love.I didn’t know where I was taken, but it didn’t stop the mate bond from driving me to my mates. And when I was within the pack gates, it brought me to the pack hospital. I didn’t change back to my human form, when I entered the room they were in I almost collapsed at the sight.Derek was laying on one of the hospital beds, the scent of blood was heavy in the air, and he was unconscious. I had to watch his chest for several moments before I saw the rise and fall, indicating he was still alive. I whined as I drew closer to the bed. Trenton’s head snapped up as I drew closer. His look was murderous until he realized it w
Avery’s POVA huge commotion broke out as the pack members began fighting each other, even Drake’s mind link wouldn’t stop them. Multiple pack members started shouting, asking for an explanation and some were just fighting to fight it seemed.“I denounce Shadow Pack and reject Alpha Drake as my alpha!” This was yelled by several pack members and you could visibly see their threads of loyalty breaking from Drake.‘Silence!’ I sent my mind link out and they were forcibly stopped, they could not fight a command from an angel hybrid. Those who had denounced the pack even stopped.“Your heiress has been taken as a hostage, I’ve been demanded to step down to save her, make no mistake, I will be back here, as your alpha, the moment we have brought her back. Cease this fighting, immediately. Those who have denounced the pack, leave, now. If you are still loyal to me, to your true luna, Avery, and to Shadow Pack, then I invite you to stay.”Those who had denounced the pack left through the gat
Viola’s POVBefore I opened my eyes I could smell him. The scent had an odd familiarity to it, and yet it was not someone I knew. When I opened my eyes a man with silvery hair and gray eyes was looking back at me. He was tall and thin, but the structure of his face made me think of Stella.I didn’t miss the way his eyes widened in surprise when I opened mine, though I didn’t know why.“Hello sleeping beauty.” His voice was like ice, like a frost you feel in your body when you become too cold.“You must be Voldin.” I slowly pushed myself up from the cot I was laying on. I furrowed my brows. It seemed that the rebels in Shadow Pack were unable to identify who they were truly working for, as they were discussing helping Clover Pack get in. And yet here I was, with Voldin.Ice slid through my veins, I was certainly in trouble now.“Why do you have the eyes of the Night Goddess?” His tone was accusatory.“Well I certainly didn’t choose my eye color when I was born.” The sarcasm leaked from
Viola’s POV“If you’re going to sulk, I can think of other ways for you to enjoy your time.” I spoke in a sultry voice, attempting to make Trenton feel better. He had basically been pouting since we left the lounge. He merely looked at me and then looked away. He sat on the edge of the bed and seemed uninterested in pretty much everything.“Don’t be angry with me love.” I spoke softly as I walked over to him and lightly ran my fingertips over his chest. “Everything is going to be fine. You’ll see.”He gripped my hand and pulled me towards him, making me fall on his lap. Then he put his hands on either side of my face and kissed me desperately. His feelings poured into me, fear, frustration, helplessness. I didn’t know how to make it better, so I kissed him harder, pouring my love and determination into him.I pushed on him so he was laying down on the bed and straddled him. If he wasn’t going to be able to let go, I would need to make him. I broke the kiss and looked at his handsome f
Viola’s POVThe growing absence of loyalty in the pack was making me nervous. I couldn’t fathom an open rebellion against my father. My edginess really showed lately, so I chose to mostly avoid people as much as I was able to.I spent a lot of time going through the journal that Cade had given me. From what I understood, it belonged to someone who was hunting Voldin and other fallen angels. The orbs were used to capture souls, as Cade had said, and as I had witnessed. The one I had captured evil souls of those who could not be killed with an ordinary weapon. They were also capable of causing great harm to a soul, while they could not do any physical damage, they could literally wound, and even break the soul if it was not very powerful. It seemed that this orb is exactly what I would need to deal with Voldin. I kept it hidden for now, it could be utilized by an angel, demon, or god. But to actually wound a soul, you needed to be a god. It was really interesting, the way it worked. Wha
