Hana slammed the car door shut, making the glass vibrate. Her breath was a little labored, her eyes filled with anxiety. Beside her, Prayoga sat quietly, lighting a cigarette and staring out the window, seemingly unconcerned.

"What did your mother say?" he asked flatly, without looking up.

Hana clutched her small bag tightly. "She said our family lawyer is in jail. I want to ask for your help in getting him released."

Prayoga finally turned around, his eyes sharp. "Why should I free him?"

"That lawyer is invaluable," Hana insisted. "He's the one who has been helping my mother with everything. Without him, my mother would lose a lot. So, please, free him."
