I watched in disgust as my ex boyfriend and my ex best friend exchanged vows of love to each other. It ate up my insides seeing them smile at each other like they forgot what they did to me. Do any of you know how embarrassing it is for someone to find out her best friend and her boyfriend are having an affair? That wasn't even all they did, they also had the effrontery to defend themselves and even turned the blame on me, saying I didn't pay enough attention to him and according to my supposed best friend, she claimed she couldn't resist the temptation after he seduced her.

It was after a lot of interference from our friends and nosy extended family that kept begging me to forgive them and take it as God's plan for me, that was when I decided to let things go but even after that, she still had the effrontery to constantly rub him in my face like he was a lottery but even at that, I still overlooked it but not because I had forgiven them but because I knew that God doesn't sleep and karma was definitely going to get back at them on my behalf.

I swallowed my pride and decided to just accept the offer and pretend to be happy for her. I even bought her several gifts to celebrate with her just so she believes I held no grudge against her. As for Daniel, my ex, I refused to talk to him and made it obvious that I hated the very sight of him but I made sure not to make any scene and just pretend he wasn't there whenever he came around and even had the audacity to kiss her and hug her in my presence like he was trying to rub his betrayal in my face. It hurt me like nothing else that each time I had to bite my lips together to avoid breaking down in tears and I swore then and there that I, Omotayo Esther Davids, would have the last laugh.
Immediately they said their vows, a video explaining their journey together started to play on the screen and thankfully they were smaller screens outside the hall for people that couldn't get sits inside. My insides danced in excitement as I anticipated the tears that were about to flood this hall. I looked at Ini, another friend of mine who was also a bride's maid, she winked at me also anticipating the drama that was about to unfold. Actually, this was all her idea. She was the only friend who understood my pain and wasn't in support of Sewa's behaviour so she helped me cook up a revenge plan.
The video kept showing pictures of them together, smiling and even short clips of their happy moments appeared until suddenly the video cracked for a short while like it was merely having connection issues and before anyone could comprehend what was happening, the video changed to exactly what I call 'Raw Porn'.
Sweet revenge.
On the screen, a sex tape of Sewa and Daniel was being shown and the look on Sewa's face at that moment was priceless. She looked so ashamed and humiliated that it made me feel pity for her.
Everyone inside the hall started to gasp and immediately the gossiping and the judgemental stares started to circulate and like a fog, it consumed the hall and even the people outside started to peek in to throw their looks of disgust at the couple but obviously, I wasn't done just yet.
Daniel started to bark orders at the workers and the people in charge of playing the videos to stop the video while Sewa just stood there like a lost sheep, watching herself moaning and screaming as Daniel thrust repeatedly inside her. I guess no matter how sweet sex is, watching yourself in action in public just makes you wish you were still a virgin.
I mentally countdown ten seconds which is when the video will change to something that would break Sewa in half and complete my revenge. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…,
Right on time, the video changes and this time the sex tape wasn't Daniel with Sewa but it was a video of him with Jennifer, another one of the bride's maid, who happened to be very close friends with Sewa but the best part of the video was yet to come.
The uproar in the hall increased ten times as typical Yoruba and Igbo women started to insult the couple and dramatise like typical judgemental Nigerian adults who still believed, sex before marriage was a sin. I could hear the whispers of disgusted remarks that people from different angles threw at them. A few women started to curse Daniel and call him shameless and some just focused on Sewa by also calling her names and even wondered if this was a wedding or a bad joke.
Sewa's expression turned dead and Jennifer was quick to run from her side because she knew the next thing coming was a tight slap.
The sex tape stopped playing and the next video showed a conversation between Jennifer and Daniel and the best part was, the video was taken just this morning.
Sewa's body fell to the ground the minute she heard what Jennifer and her husband had discussed. After several attempts, they finally got Sewa to wake up but the happiness that danced in her eyes a while ago had completely disappeared, almost like it was never there. Daniel had knelt down shamefully in front of her and kept murmuring excuses and apologies but she was too stunned to even answer instead she focused her attention on the video that made more tears roll down her cheeks.
I walked towards her and faced her with a wider than life itself smile on my face and when she noticed the smile on my face, she frowned.
"So you're the one behind all this?" she asked the obvious and I broke into guffaws, attracting everyone's attention. The whispers died down the minute I took a microphone and it was obvious that everyone was interested in hearing what I had to say. I looked at Daniel first and his eyes showed nothing but pure hatred for me but I didn't care because now, I won and that was all that mattered to me.
"Ehya, Pele Sewa (sorry Sewa). Let me ask you this question first, how does it feel to be in my shoes?" I asked her but she just kept staring at me like she wanted to bite off my head.
"How dare you ruin my wedding like this? How could you do this to me?" she replied, gritting her teeth and I sneered at her.
"You're crazy! I repeat, you're very crazy. Not only did you cheat with my own boyfriend, you even had the effrontery and the audacity to accept his ring and ask me to be your maid of honour. You get mind o! You're not even scared or ashamed or even guilty for what you put me through. Sewa, I told you everything I felt for this fool, I told you everything that went on and you still had the guts to betray me and then beg me like nothing ever . Tsk tsk tsk, you're shameless. You're indeed very shameless!" I retorted with so much rage boiling inside me.
"If you were a good girlfriend, he would have never cheated on you in the first place!" she snapped and I itched to slap her so badly but wasn't going to bother slapping a useless fool like her.
"Well, let's agree I'm a bad girlfriend. At least now you know that you're also a terrible girlfriend because he cheated on you too and even got the girl pregnant. How does it feel to know you and your husband's mistress are expecting a baby at the same time?" I asked with a mocking laugh and her face fell, almost like I just shattered the last bit of pride she had left.
"Young Lady!" a familiar voice shouted and I already guessed it was her mother. "You have insulted my daughter enough. Get out!" she ordered and I broke into another round of laughter.
"Like a mother, like a daughter. Two shameless people who go around snatching people's boyfriends because they can't keep one on their own. Listen to me madam, your daughter is only getting a taste of her own medicine nothing else and if all of you like, call me a bitter woman, I don't care. All I know is my job here is done so Sewa darling, happy married life." and with that, I dropped the mic, picked my purse and headed out with Ini immediately following behind me but not before rubbing more salt on Sewa's wounds.
"Mission accomplished!" She squealed the minute we got to my car and I smiled widely, looking at the building one last time before getting into my car and driving away.
