Chapter 2

Two women burst into the room where I was. I recognized one of them right away.

Vincent’s personal secretary.

"Please, let me go." I glared at her, but she just averted her gaze. "Do you realize what you're doing now? I'm going to sue you all!"

"Sue me if you manage to flee, Ms. Viacera." Vincent arrived, and he was dressed formally. "No one can hear you, no matter how loud you shout."

“Why are you doing this?” I was stunned as I suppressed my self-loathing. “I-I thought we had an agreement.”

“A-huh?” He leaned against the door jamb and slammed the wall using his fist. “You forgot, Ms. Viacera, that we are sworn enemies. Do you think I’ll be gentle with you?”

Because of what he said, my hands began to tremble. I blinked and bit my bottom lip.

He was correct. Why did I believe he would assist me?

“For the next two months, my secretaries will monitor your behavior and health. Consider yourself fortunate if you did not become pregnant.

I gave him a dark look. “And what if I become pregnant?”

He smirked. “Then you’ll experience hell. You’ll be staying in my mansion until you give birth. I will take my child from you while your clan suffers from humiliation. After all, knowing I get you pregnant is a disgrace to them— “

“Shut up!” I covered my two ears, causing the two chains on my wrists to ring.

Vincent finished his sentence and exited the room. But first, he cast a dark glance at me.

“Miss Shianna,” Vincent’s secretary said quietly. “Please, keep your cool. We don’t want to cause you any harm.”

I took my palms away from both of my ears. I cried as I looked at Vincent’s secretary. “Please, help me.”

“Just hope you don’t get pregnant.”

“What if I become pregnant? How am I supposed to be a mother?” I reached for her hand, but she backed away. I continued to try to get her, but I was unsuccessful.

“Ms. Ybañez, I’ll take her medicine. I believe I left it at the clinic.”

“Sure,” said Ms. Ybañez. “I’ll take care of her in the meantime.”

“I’ll be there quickly.” The woman walked away, leaving us as the only ones behind.

Ms. Ybañez turned to glance at the room door, and my eyes widened as she abruptly took my hand in hers and pulled out a key.

“W-What are you up to?” I was taken aback. “Are you insane?”

When Ms. Ybañez removed the chain from my wrist, my hand felt lighter. When I felt the bruise on my wrist, I rubbed it as the woman followed my other cuffed hand.

“Last night, Miss Shianna, I called your secretary. He is coming back from Italy.”

“Ms. Ybañez.” She was about to help stand me up when I took her hand. “Why are you doing this? You will undoubtedly perish for assisting me!”

Ms. Ybañez smiled and gently held my hand. I stood up, and we exited the room right away. I was fortunate to be dressed. I don’t wear a bra, but it’s better than nothing.

“We’ll come in through the backdoor, Miss. The entire mansion will undoubtedly be alarmed within minutes. Whatever happens, you go straight to the forest. There will be a car there.”

I looked at her again as she tightened her grip on my hand. When the elevator opened on the first floor, Vincent’s other secretary appeared.

“What is going on?” Ms. Ybañez pushed the secretary just as she was about to yell. I could feel the coldness of the floor beneath my feet. My sweaty hands were as cold as the floor.

“Guard! Guard! ”

“Ms. Shianna! Go faster!” I began running alongside Ms. Ybañez. When I turned around and saw fifteen guards chasing us, I gasped.

Why do the guards always seem to be chasing me?

And why Vincent’s mansion seemed so big?

“Shit!” Ms. Ybañez immediately helped me to get up after I stumbled. Vincent’s voice rumbled as I stood up.

“SHIANNA!”

I tensed up in my position. I turned to face Vincent, who was approaching me with heavy steps. My lips quivered, and tears streamed down my cheeks.

“I despise you!”

I ran again, but someone grabbed my female companion. My eyes widened, and she turned around.

“Please get away!” Vincent was holding Ms. Ybanez’s hair. She burst into tears as the guards stared at me. They could arrest me with just one command from Vincent. “Do not squander this opportunity!”

“B-But—”

“Please!”

I clenched my fist and resumed my run. I wiped my tears away and never looked back.

“Come back here, Shianna!”

Why do people always chase me? I want to be free.

I made a massive mistake by reconciling with Vincent!

I left the mansion through the backdoor. The birds chirped as the morning wind greeted me.

“I’m sorry.” I sobbed and ran again while remembering Ms. Ybañez.

I went straight to the mansion’s forest section. When I heard gunshots, I almost fell to the ground.

“H-Help.” I cried some more. I jumped into Ms. Ybañez’s car as soon as I saw it. I started the car with the key slammed into the ignition. I crashed the car into the old gate I’d seen.

When the phone on the seat next to mine rang, I shifted my gaze to it. I answered the call when I saw a familiar number registered on the screen.

“Cayer?” My sobbing became more intense. “Please save me.”

“I’ll be right there, Ms. Shian. I’m tracking the location of the device you’re currently holding.”

I sighed and nodded. “Let’s save Ms. Ybañez, Cayer.”

“That is not possible, Ms. Shian. Your safety is my top priority.”

“But Vincent might kill her!”

“If you come back, Ms. Shian, you will only be wasting Ms. Ybañez’s sacrifice.”

I sobbed as I touched my head. I tried to concentrate on the road, but my mind was fogged with multiple shocking scenarios. My body was trembling violently, and it appeared that I would pass out from fear at any moment.

“Calm down, Miss.”

I was shaken and kept crying. “I can’t. I-I’m terrified, Cayer.”

“Take a look at the road, Miss.”

“I’m looking—” I turned, and my eyes widened when I saw an old man crossing the street. I immediately turned the car around, and the last thing I remembered was my collision with a tree.

“Miss Shian! Miss Shian, please, wake up! ” When I noticed Cayer patting my cheek, I slowly opened my eyes. He also shook my shoulder slightly. When he saw me regain consciousness, he breathed a sigh of relief.

“W-Where am I?” I tried to get up, but my body was frail.

“We’re on our way to Europe, Miss Shian.”

I woke up completely when I heard what he said. He swallowed and cupped my cheek.

“D-Did I escape?” I inquired slowly. I blinked several times. My brain had not yet processed what had occurred.

“Yes.” Cayer sighed and broke down in tears. While I was still feeling blank, my secretary unexpectedly hugged me. “I’m relieved you’re safe. Fortunately, I saw you collide with a tree. Vincent almost had you, Miss Shian, but I stood firm. I-I will not let you be hurt again.”

My tears streamed down my cheeks as I hugged Cayer back. I sobbed, burying my face in his chest.

“Shhh. Your secretary is here. I’ll protect you, Miss Shian. ”

“Cayer, how about my clan? What happened to them after I escaped?”

“They’re looking for you. Your clan was aware that you had spent the night with Vincent. They were enraged. Your wedding has been called off. Vincent’s is the same. “

I swallowed and kept crying. “Take me away from my family and relatives, Cayer. I-I feel like there are a lot of monsters chasing me.”

Cayer gently pulled me away from him. He wiped my tears away and cupped my cheek.

“Then we’ll defend the child at all costs.”

“If the Viacera clan discovers I have a child, they will murder my kid! If I have a child, he will be the company’s second legal heir. I’m sure my family will consider him a threat.”

I cried, and Cayer hugged me again.

“A-And Vincent, I’m sure he’ll take my child from me.”

“I won’t let that happen, Miss Shian.”

My body was shaking as I hugged him back.

“But for the time being, we need the situation to calm down. We must spend a few years abroad. Miss Shian, if you are going to have a child, it’s not only you that you’ll have to protect anymore.”

I inhaled deeply. “I understand, Cayer. So, from now on—” I finally stopped crying. “I will stand firm. And I will exact my vengeance on everyone who has wronged me.”
