"It's fake."
I froze on my steps, my hands tightening around my phone.
"He had someone manage to forge the document." He continued. Suddenly it all made his sense.
His talk about not wanting to hold a wedding because he wants to wait for a success in his career suddenly didn't seem so considerate anymore.
Alaric helping with all the procedures was never because he cared for me. He just wanted to trick me.
He couldn't even care enough to actually go through the wedding with me.
I smiled. "Okay, thank you."
I rushed to my room, pulling down my luggage and packing in some clothes. I stopped halfway, placing a call over to my dad.
The phone rang once and he picked immediately.
"Violet?" He called, he still refused to call me my full after all these years.
"Dad." I replied and I could feel his excitement from the other end of the call.
"You are finally willing to talk to me. Even if you had wanted to rely on yourself, you didn't have to cut me off." He spoke, his voice shaky.
I couldn't help but feel tears at the brim of my eyes. I argued with my dad, begging to start over on my own without his support, believing strongly that I had only faced that ordeal because of my dad. I was so stupid.
"I'm sorry, dad. I'm really sorry. I'll be coming home in two days." I said, and he pitched his voice.
"Okay." He said, the excitement obvious in his voice.
"I'll wait for you."
I smiled, and hung up.
Suddenly, they pushed open. My eyes widened but I figured Alaric would never come to my room.
He never has in three months but I still hide the luggage under the pile of clothes.
I hurried to sit on the bed. I checked the time on the phone, and even after three minutes, he still hadn't opened the door to my room.
My head dropped. He would never, especially not when he had achieved his goals.
I finished packing up, and sat at my desk, replaying the match over and over again.
Even with the team's strategy, and the star player accepted, my team could have still handled it.
How did they lose so terribly?
I couldn't help but question myself, and then it clicked. I paused the video at the exact moment where the floor showed.
I laid back in my chair. Who would do this? The team's gear had obviously been messed with but everyone was so absorbed in the other setbacks that they didn't even notice.
"I have something to say. Let's meet at Star Hall tomorrow."
The group chat remained silent, none of the members responded but a smile still rose on my face.
They would come either way.
I closed my laptop and hopped on my bed.

"I'll be there soon." I texted the group chat, throwing my bag over my shoulder as I rushed in.
I had actually slept off, and came even later than them. I couldn't help but hit my head as I walked further into the hall but then I bumped into someone.
The chest wasn't as strong as the one from yesterday but it wasn't softer though. I looked up, my face scrunched up.
Alaric's eyes caught my eyes and I couldn't help but scoff.
How did I manage to run into him? I couldn't help but think, cursing my luck. I tried to push past him, pretending not to know him but I felt his hands tighten on my arm.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, his face scrunched up. I wanted to force my hand out but seeing the frustrated look on the man beside him, I caught on.
He thought I was here for him. I smiled, straightening up. "I'm here for a friend."
Alaric didn't budge, his gaze remained cold as he looked at me. The man beside him spoke before he could.
"Who else could you be here for if not Alaric? Everyone knows how obsessed you are with me." He said, and my jaw clenched but I couldn't even blame him.
I really was obsessed with Alaric. After all, he was once my light.
I smiled at the man by his side. "Sorry but that's something from months ago. Let's not live in the past." I quoted his words and he seemed to get the reference.
Something flicked in Alaric's eyes but it was quickly replaced with annoyance and hatred.
"Enough with this, I'll talk to you when I have time to. Lilith is really just an investor, you don't have to think too much about it." Alaric spoke, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"Don't worry. I couldn't care less about your relationship with her."
I said, smiling back at him.
"Stop it!" Alaric commanded. His voice slightly raised. Passer-bys started to look but he seemed less concerned.
"This isn't the place for you to play your games. I already got your message, can you leave now?"
I stared at him in shock, I had never realized that Alaric was so self-absorbed.
"I'm not here to see you." I said, pulling his hand off mine. "Whether you believe it or not."
I said, turning away.
The team sat patiently at the table, some of their faces scrunched up while the others remained absorbed in their phones.
"I'm sorry for being late." I spoke, crossing my fingers.
Some ignored me, while the others stared at me, waiting for answers. I smiled, taking a seat.
"Is there any food you would like to have?" I asked, scanning their faces. I couldn't get a reply before I heard a bang.
The door bursted open, and Ricky walked in, a frown on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked immediately but he only turned to glare at me.
"Did you invite us here to confirm our speculations. You had truly given him our strategies?" Ricky asked and I raised a brow.
"What do you mean?" I asked, staring deep at his face as if it would give me answers.
"I saw you with him today. You weren't even trying to hide it.”
Violetta I returned inside, but I couldn't bring myself to do anything else. I remained buried in my bed, on my phone, and received several texts from Jude as the minutes passed, he updated me on everything he was doing. "Started the training," he attached a picture with it, and I clicked on it. It had the new members in it, both of them in their gear, and already on the ice. I rolled my eyes and shut the screen but it pinged again. Another picture. One of the skaters on the floor, and at a corner, Kelvin stood there, laughing. I felt a slight smile curling up my lips but I dropped it immediately and shut the screen. I still had to find a way to solve this. This wasn't the time for jokes, and Jude's way of solving this wouldn't work out. At best, it would help us survive, and suffer a disgracing defeat. I stood up from the bed, and picked up my laptop. Also sending a text to Kelvin. "Find out if the coach has any connection," Hours passed, and my phone pinged again but it w
Violetta. I heard someone calling out to me from behind but I didn't stop, I continued walking either way. It was Jude who was behind me. I didn't know what he wanted to do, and I couldn't bring myself to wait. I could feel a heavy weight in my heart, and I only wanted to get it off my chest. I stopped outside the building, taking a seat nearby as I stared at the place. Did I really care so much about this that I would force him to stay? Would I? I shook my head but I couldn't shake the thoughts off.Kelvin wouldn't have hidden it from me for no reason, and it was right for him to hide it. This competition was really important to me, and I would try to force him to stay. I threw my head back, letting the breeze blow against my face, then, my phone rang. I sniffed, sitting back up straight as I picked up the call. "Dad," I called out the moment I answered. I didn't get any answer after I spoke, rather I heard the scramble of people around him, and I finally heard my father's voi
Violetta I paused, "sorry?" I tilted my head slightly, afraid I had misheard him. He didn't even listen to what I had to say, he just outright rejected me. This was starting to look more than it seemed. The man before my eyes relaxed in his seat, a smile on his face that felt improper for the conversation. "You heard me," he replied. My hands throbbed as I grabbed harder onto the hem on my clothes. I wanted to shake off the thought. He had no reason to target me. We had no feud. I said those words over and over in my head before I exhaled. "Can I know why?" I asked. "There's no big reason," he said, shrugging lightly like we were discussing something that wasn't important. "My team also has their schedule, why should they bend to yours?" he asked. I could feel my eyes twitching as I stared at him. He actually had the nerve to ask that. They weren't the ones bending for us, but rather it was the other way around. If it weren't for their delayed flight, or whatever reas
Violetta My hands twitched. Rejected. When we had already thought it was a sure win. I swallowed hard. "What's the reason?" I asked. "The reason we provided was invalid," My eyes widened at his response, I stepped forward, my hands balling into a tight fist. "That's not a good enough reason?" I asked, my voice pitched slightly higher. Kelvin's eyes drifted across from me, and I exhaled, trying to calm myself. What could I do now? There was nobody who could replace him, and he was definitely going to miss the match. Izel spoke up, and I turned to see him on the ice. I squinted, not catching what he said. Maybe it was the helmet over his head, or the fact that I still remained deep in my thoughts as I stared at it. "They should be able to replace me if they train more," he smiled, his smile reaching his eyes. I felt a slight pang in my chest. How was I supposed to tell him that I couldn't approve his request? He would even leave either way. I swallowed the words that hung at m
ViolettaKelvin blinked, he adjusted fully in his seat and paused. His eyes darted between me, and Jude before he spoke up. "Handle what?" he asked. My shoulder dropped. Jude had just glared at him, and he really closed his ears to everything we said. I pursed my lips and he stared blankly at me. He blinked, looking towards Jude. Only then did I speak up. "Jude wants to bring new people in," I paused, and he nodded slowly, but his eyes still darted around the place. "Handle it," I finished. A smile spread across his lips, he sat back in his seat, looking towards Jude. "I'll handle it, don't worry."I rolled my eyes, shaking my head as I lowered my head, and started eating. ***Early the next morning, I waited with Kelvin behind me, staring at the screen like our lives depended on it because it did. Mine did. A notification popped up, and I recoiled before I could read the content. I stayed back in my seat, my eyes closed tightly. I felt Kelvin leaning forward, his body resting
Violetta. "Sure," she smiled.I heaved, letting out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. I turned towards Kelvin, and he nudged me on, a smile plastered on his face. I returned my gaze to the lady at the desk."What do I need to do?" I asked. Her gaze remained on the screen, and she only paused after a while. "Nothing much, I'll ask you a few questions," she said. I smiled, nodding enthusiastically. Finally, there was hope. Her hands clicked on the keys on the keyboard, and she cleared her throat before she spoke. She didn't look towards me but rather, read directly from the screen. "When do you want the competition to be extended to?" she asked. I paused, and my gaze wandered around the place. I had thought of that. The time he would spend at the funeral, paying up the rest of the bills, and staying by her side as she took her last breaths. How was I supposed to know that?I could feel the hairs on my skin rising as I felt someone's eyes on me. Kelvin spoke up behind me,
