LOGINBLURB: Sleeping with my brother's rival was never part of the plan. I knew two things about Callum Hayes; he was arrogant and my brother hates him. I should have stopped there but after drinking a little too much at a party, I ended up in the bed of the very guy I was absolutely forbidden from touching. I tell myself it was one mistake, one reckless night and a secret I would take to my grave but the semester starts and I find out Callum Hayes isn’t going anywhere. And neither is the attraction between us. If my brother finds out, I’ll have a lot more to worry about than a broken heart.

CALLUM “You like that?” She asked and all I could muster was a moan of approval before she buried her face into the crook of my neck again. She was straddling my lap, kissing me like she’d been waiting all summer to jump at the opportunity, and judging from the way her fingers had tangled up in my hair, I didn’t think she had any intention to stop soon. I wasn’t complaining though. Her body was completely flushed against mine, and every few seconds she pulled away just far enough to stare at me with grouse heavy lidded eyes before she dived back in. The music around us was loud enough to shake the windows of the house but everything faded into the background as the only sound I could now hear was the perfectly sultry sounds that made me tune everything else out as she rubbed herself against me on the couch, her hands gliding over my chest before they disappeared into my briefs. She wrapped her hand around my dick and I tore my mouth from hers, throwing my head back as a guttural moan slipped from my lips. She took that as an approval and became committed to doing a perfect job, running her hand over my length faster and harder until my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I could feel the waves of pleasure coming. “Fuck, Chloe.” I said, eyes still pressed shut. “You’re doing a great job, baby,” but the movements suddenly stopped and my eyes flew open immediately at the loss of contact. Chloe had moved back, the sultry look in her eyes was long gone and replaced with what looked extremely close to rage. “What did you just call me?” “What?” I was still trying to process because who on earth stops a handjob just to ask foolish questions? I shifted, my dick still throbbing as desperate for the last bit of friction for it to come. “What’s my name?” “For goodness sake, Chloe, why do you want me to repeat your name?” She let out a humorless laugh. No actually, she scoffed and pushed herself off of me. “We’ve been together all week and you couldn’t be bothered to get my name right?” Oh. My dick practically deflated as I realized what she was mad about. I put on the most remorseful look I could muster as I mentally tried to figure out how to goad her into saying her name herself. I needed her to finish what she’d started, a handjob and probably a quickie upstairs and then she can continue being mad that I didn’t know her name. “Baby, I’m so sorry.” I moved to touch her but she moved away but not before slapping my hand off of her shoulder. “What’s my name, Callum?” Around us, the party continued like nothing had happened. Someone screamed from the kitchen, the song playing changed and a couple stumbled past us, laughing. Meanwhile, I was trying to mentally scroll through every girl's name I'd heard in the last three days. Nothing. "Your name is..." I began slowly, buying myself time as I studied her face. “You’re such a prude, a fucking asshole. It’s Lena not Chloe, you jerk!” At this point she had completely lost all patience as she grabbed her purse from the table and stormed away. I watched her disappear into the crowd, ass jiggling. "Fuck." I leaned forward, grabbed the bottle I had long abandoned on the table and took a long drink. How could I have mistaken Lena for Chloe? I tried to chastise myself but I couldn’t find any fucks to give. One would think she would sulk throughout the rest of the party, but no. She quickly found another guy close to the bar, and they barely conversed for a minute before she had her tongue down his throat and it left a bitter taste in my mouth. It wasn’t long before I saw her pulling him towards the corner where I had hoped to fuck her against the wall. That was the norm around here and the problem with parties like this. I finished my drink and pushed myself off the couch. I needed another drink or maybe two. I made my way through the crowded living room, ignoring the people who slapped my shoulder or called my name as I passed. The house belonged to one of the guys on the hockey team, and he'd apparently invited half the university. I was halfway to the bar when someone crashed into me and the impact knocked the bottle out of my hand causing the cold liquid to splashed across the front of my shirt. I looked down before slowly looking up. A brunette stood in front of me, staring at the stain on my shirt with wide blue eyes and for half a second, neither of us moved. Then she winced. "Oh my God." I waited. "I'm sorry," she added quickly, clutching the empty cup in one hand. "I didn't mean to." I looked down at my shirt again, then back at her, irritating seeping through my bones. “Are you fucking serious?” I demanded, gesturing elaborately to the mess she made. “Do you have a habit of throwing drinks at strangers, or am I just lucky tonight?” Her eyes widened on instant and she genuinely looked taken aback by my reaction but the shock was quickly replaced by irritation. “I said I was sorry.” “And that somehow fixes my shirt?” I cocked my head to the side and raised a brow. “What exactly do you want me to do?” She shot back, her brows furrowing as she looked me up and down. “Take it off and apologize to it?” I glared at her and she glared right back. There was something almost impressive about how she held eye contact. Most people would have backed down by now, especially when they realized who they were talking to. She clearly didn’t give a fuck. “I want you to watch where you’re going,” I snapped, wiping at the wet patch on my shirt even though I knew it was pointless. “I prefer not to wear my drink.” Her lips parted in disbelief. “You bumped into me too.” “I was walking in a straight line,” I wasn’t having it, she wasn’t going to turn the tables on me. “So was I!” She shot back. “You walked into me.” “You walked into me.” We said it at the same time and for a second after that, we just glared at each other before she let out a disgusted scoff. “You know what? Just forget it.” She said and then turned to walk away. I should have let her, but my mouth moved before my brain could even process it. “Typical Bennett.” She stopped and turned around slowly. “What did you just say?” “You heard me. It’s always the same with you Bennetts, I’m guessing arrogance runs in the family.” I have a casual shrug, my eyes never leaving hers. “No, I heard you,” she stepped closer, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. “I’m just trying to figure out what gives you the right to insult me when you’re the one standing here and being a fucking asshole after I apologized for spilling your drink.” She turned around before I got the chance to say anything and this time, I let her go. I watched her disappear into the crowd, the irritated set of her shoulders making it obvious that she was still pissed. A small smile crept onto my lips. Mason Bennett’s little sister. I didn’t expect her to have so much of an attitude, and I definitely didn’t expect her to be so pretty up close, enough to make me notice twice. I took a swig from what was left in my bottle and forced my attention elsewhere. She was Bennett’s sister, not my problem. That alone was reason enough to stay away, or at least it should have been. I saw her again almost two hours later. By then, the party had gotten considerably louder and I’d had enough drinks to stop caring about my ruined shirt. I was leaning against the kitchen counter, listening to Carter tell some ridiculous story about some girl he met over the summer when I caught sight of blue eyes across the room. She was laughing, her head tipped back slightly, brown hair falling over her shoulders while her friend stood beside her, saying something that clearly amused her. I watched for longer than I should have. Eventually, her eyes found mine and her smile was quickly replaced with a deep scowl. She said something to her friend before she started walking towards the kitchen. Maybe she was coming to apologize? That made the most sense. She stopped in front of me and jabbed her finger in my chest. Her eyes looked drowsy, and when she spoke, her words were slurry, “why are you staring at me?” I glanced at the finger still pressed against my chest before looking back at her. “Because you’re standing right in front of me.” “That’s not an answer.” She frowned, clearly dissatisfied with that response. “You were staring at me before I came here.” “It’s the only one you’re getting.” She rolled her eyes hard before letting out a scoff. “You’re so fucking prude.” I leaned closer slightly, lowering my voice. “You’ve called me every name under the sun, but you haven’t walked away.” She opened her mouth, but no words came out and for a second neither of us said anything. Her eyes flickered down to my mouth then back up. I caught it. “So that’s why you’re still here,” I murmured. Her brows pulled together, “why?” “You tell me.” I don’t know who moved first, but one second we were glaring at each other and the next, her lips were against mine. The kiss was brief at first, almost hesitant, like neither of us could believe we’d actually done it. She pulled back just enough to look at me. “This is a bad idea,” she whispered. “Probably,” I breathed back as I caught at the back of her neck and kissed her again.CHAPTER 6CALLUMThe problem with practice was that a puck never cared who your father was.It didn't care about the championships he'd won, the records he'd broken, or the number of times his name had appeared in sports magazines. It didn't matter that half the people who watched me play had already decided what kind of hockey player I was before I'd even stepped onto the ice. A puck had one job, and if you gave it enough room, it would make you look like an idiot.Fortunately, I had never been particularly interested in looking like an idiot.I caught the pass from my left, shifted my weight, and sent the puck between the defenseman's skates before he could close the gap. The move bought me half a second, which was all I needed. I drove toward the goal, waited for the goalie to commit, then snapped my wrist and sent the puck into the upper corner of the net.The red light flashed.“Again!” Coach barked from the bench.I circled back without answering, my skates carving into the ice.
CHAPTER 5 AVERY I stared at Callum Hayes’s name until the letters blurred together. There had to be a mistake. Maybe Professor Callahan had written the wrong name. Maybe there was another Callum Hayes at Hawthorns, which was ridiculous because I knew perfectly well there wasn't. Maybe I had somehow skipped an entire section of the assignment sheet and there was a perfectly reasonable explanation waiting underneath the next paragraph. I flipped the page over. Nothing. I flipped it back. Still there, and very hard to miss: CALLUM HAYES. My stomach twisted. The classroom had started emptying around me, chairs scraping against the floor while everyone complained about their assignments and compared subjects. I barely heard any of it. My eyes remained fixed on the paper in my hands as the memory of yesterday morning came rushing back with absolutely no concern for my sanity. Callum leaning against the headboard with a stupid, smug expression. The black leather wallet, his name o
CHAPTER 4AVERY“So, you're telling me you slept with a stranger, didn't know his name, left his room before sunrise, and then found out he was Callum Hayes?”Sienna's voice was far too loud.I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer as we walked across campus. “Keep your voice down.”She blinked innocently. “Why?”“Because we're in the middle of campus, Sienna.”“So?”“So people have ears.”She rolled her eyes. “Nobody cares what we're talking about.”“I care.”“You've told me this story three times already.”“And you've asked me questions about it approximately forty-seven times.”“Because I still can't believe it.” She lowered her voice dramatically, although not nearly enough for my liking. “Callum Hayes?”I groaned.“Yes, Sienna. Callum Hayes.”“The Callum Hayes that Mason keeps talking about and absolutely hates?”I stopped walking and stared at her. “How many Callum Hayeses do you think there are that Mason hates?”She shrugged. “I don't know. Maybe two.”“You're impossible.”“An
CHAPTER 3AVERY“Why are you going through my stuff, Bennett?”I froze. For one horrifying second, I considered pretending I didn’t hear him. Then slowly, I turned around, still holding his student ID in my hand.Callum was propped against the headboard, one arm behind his head, his hair sticking up in every direction. He looked really comfortable for someone who had just ruined my entire morning. His eyes dropped to the ID in my hand, and the corner of his mouth lifted in a coy smirk “You could've just asked for my name,” he drawled, his voice rough with sleep. “You didn't have to conduct a background check.”I stared at him. “You're Callum Hayes.”“Very observant.”I threw the ID onto the bed. “What the hell were you thinking?”His eyebrows lifted. “About?”“About this!”I gestured between us so wildly that I nearly smacked myself in the face. He looked at me for a second before shrugging. “I thought we were having a good time.”My mouth dropped open. “You—”I stopped myself and t
