Author's POV

The man standing before her was no other person than Lucien Drazik. The Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack and one of the major shareholders of the Academy. His eyes were staring straight at her, not with guilt, but something more dangerous—confusion.

No..... He doesn't believe the way his wolf, Mark, was whimpering in recognition beneath him. He doesn't understand why his nose becomes super sensitive and he could smell her so much. She smelled like peach blossoms. It was everything good and Mark howled inside him, excited and restless.

'Mate. Mate,' Mark howled again, the word echoing in his mind.

But.... How could this be? What the hell just happened? ........why a human? Why would a human be his mate? Again?

He blinked slowly, his nostrils flaring in irritation as if she wasn't even human. As if she was some house roach that he'd want to trample under his feet.

“You’re human…” he murmured, barely audible. “But why does it smell like fate?”

Teya stared, frozen. Fate? What was he talking about? She was still dumbstruck by his beauty but that doesn't mean he should be speaking gibberish instead of apologising for making her fall on her butt.

Lucien too was captivated by her mesmerising silver eyes, her skin was flawless with high cheekbones that framed her delicate , heart shaped face. She was truly beautiful.....but that beauty disgusted him more than anything else. Humans. They are weak. Disposable. He hated them. All of them.

He had come to the store to get some essentials but he had just lost the zeal to carry on.

Without another word, he turned back and walked away—no apology, no explanation. He just left her there, breathless and surrounded by scattered apples and instant noodles.

Teya watched his retreating back from the glass door until he disappeared from her sight.  Only then did she exhale In relief.

What the hell just happened? And what was that strange, undeniable pull that she felt?

It felt like she had known him all her life, yet she was sure she had never seen him before.  He felt familiar. Awakening something..... Something different inside her.

She gathered her things and quickly made her way to the dorm.

Back in the dorm, Teya recounted the incident to her new roommates. Tessa let out a low whistle.

“That sounds like Lucien Drazik,” she said. “He’s… the Alpha."

Lena frowned. “Alpha of the Bloodmoon Dominion pack. Thank goodness, you didn't cause any trouble. Make sure to avoid him," she warned.

Teya nodded slowly.

Then Lena continued. "Many of the elite werewolf students hate the transfer and scholarship students, especially the humans."

Teya's heart skipped a beat. Hated the humans? Hated the scholarship students? Was that why they bullied her sister until she killed herself?

As much as she wanted to bring up the topic about a student who committed suicide last two years, she couldn't. Bringing it up would be too forward and that would only spring up suspicions.

First she needed to gain her ground, find out if there was any act of bullying or not. Then get in touch with Reya's room mates and then her diary. She never found it inside her belongings that the school handed over and she thought that was strange.

Teya knew how Reya loved to document things, even the simplest one. If she was being bullied in the academy, then she must have written it down in her diary. And not finding the diary would only mean one thing.

Someone took it on purpose.

...... Why?

Maybe to cover up for their crimes.

Teya brushed the thoughts away with the determination to unravel everything bit by bit.

But that strange pull in her chest refused to fade. She kept seeing those blue eyes. Kept hearing that cold, condescending voice.

If he was the Alpha and was powerful like her roommate had said, maybe he would know something. But from the way he had snapped at her earlier, he doesn't seem exactly like someone she could ever approach.

She heaved in frustration, her thoughts tangling but one thing was certain. She would figure everything out.

_______

That night, she had a dream, which was both confusing and so frightening that she could barely breathe.

She was standing in a forest under a blood-red moon. A silver wolf stood beside her, huge and majestic, its glowing amber eyes fixed on the darkness beyond the trees. Shadows circled them, whispering words she couldn’t understand.

Then the wolf turned to her, growling words that shook the sky: “Find them… or be consumed.”

When she snapped her eyes open, her breathing was laboured and her forehead drenched with sweat.

She jolted upright on her bed. What the hell is happening? What..... does that dream even mean? A silver wolf?  Find them? Who....?

She couldn't sleep all through the night. Her brain mentally figuring out everything that's happened in less than twenty-four hours she's got here. She couldn't help but wonder that there was truly something...... Something strange about this Academy.

Then her mind drifted back to her mother's words. And she could only hope that the Academy doesn't swallow her like they did to her sister.

______

The next morning, Teya walked into the lecture hall for her first class with her books clutched to her chest, her nerves on edge. She wasn't afraid. No. She just wasn't used to the way the room had quieted and then the stares of judgement, curiosity and disdain the other students who were werewolves and few humans threw her way.

Whispers buzzed around her.

"She's human....."

“…a transfer student…”

“Why’s she even here?”

Teya ignored them, forcing her chin up and her movements steady as she moved through the rows and settled by the empty chair near the back.

“Hey, transfer student,” a sharp voice called, and she turned slowly. A tall brunette with glowing golden eyes smirked down at her from the row ahead. “Do you even know how to cast a basic protection spell?”

Teya opened her mouth to respond, but the hall door creaked open, and silence fell instantly.

Professor Kael, a professor in literature, walked in with his tablet and teaching device in his hands.

Dressed in a tailored tuxedo suit and dark slacks, his presence commanded attention. His hair was silver—not old, but ethereal and his sharp features held a sort of timeless beauty. His steps were calculated, his aura commanding, but what stunned Teya most were his eyes. Stormy gray pair. They locked onto her own silver eyes the moment he entered.

Professor Kael was in his early thirties but he doesn't look like it. He looked like a teenager.

She gasped softly. That strange pull returned. It was like a string tying her to him, tugging from deep within her soul.

Kael’s eyes narrowed slightly as if he were... surprised? Then I was intrigued.

Without a word, he turned toward the board, projecting the lesson for the day on it.  He began the lesson, his voice echoing through the room.

But Teya couldn't pay attention. Her pulse thundered in her ears. Her whole body was alert with an awareness that made no sense. That shouldn't be happening.

What is this?

She tried to look away. But she couldn't. His eyes were piercing. His voice was like unending music.

Kael too wasn't left out. It was due to his several years of teaching experience that made him not to stutter and floop the lectures.

He couldn't deny the pull too. The way his wolf howled in recognition, her peach blossoms scent that filled his nose was so delicious, so satisfying and so tempting.

He moved through the rows, talking casually about literature theory, but every step he took brought him closer—until he was right beside her.

She stiffened, her heart racing louder than his voice.

Then, to her shock, Kael paused, bent slightly to her level, his mouth near her ear.

His voice was soft but deliberate. “I know who you are, mate.”

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 25

Teya's POVOkay, so I know I had made this whole plan to either befriend the Alpha or, you know, maybe even seduce him. But honestly? It feels like my grand scheme is on permanent hold as if the universe itself is giving me a subtle (or not-so-subtle) nudge to hold my horses and not do anything regrettable. Let’s face it: jumping into things, especially with a guy like him, is probably not my brightest idea.On top of that, my schedule has been absolutely slammed. I’ve had back-to-back classes for what feels like forever—seriously, an entire week straight—and they’ve completely wiped me out. I’m talking boneless, couch potato levels of exhaustion here. If I had a dollar for every time I collapsed onto my bed and thought about how nice it would be to get just a little bit of rest, I could probably afford a vacation right now. And then there’s the whole Professor Kael situation. Not that I was particularly eager to see him or anything—it's just that I haven’t laid eyes on him in days

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 24

Teya's POV My brain was all jumbled. That wasn't me back there. It wasn't. *Oof*"Watch where you're going." An angry voice uttered. It was sharp, irritated. But I didn’t have the strength or the focus to give even a half-hearted apology. My mind was stuck on what had just happened in Lucien’s office. All I could do was keep walking, retreating quickly to my dorm, my steps heavy and unsteady.I stormed down the hallway like fire licked at my heels, trying not to burst into flames from the sheer mortification churning in my gut. What the hell had I just done?I arrived here determined to uncover the truth behind my sister’s tragic death. This wasn’t what I signed up for—not to find myself on my knees, sucking off a very man who might have a hand in whatever sinister events led to her demise. Seriously, what has my life come to?It felt like my legs were made of jelly, all shaky and unsteady beneath me. My lips were still buzzing from our encounter, and honestly, it felt like ther

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 23

Lucien’s PovYes I had been thinking about Teya right before she waltzed into my office like she owned the damn place. If you ask me why, I'd probably not be able to answer because I'm not sure I know the answer myself. All I know is that one minute I had been investigating Reya's death, then the next thoughts of her flooded my head. I had broken the mate bond. So why couldn't I get her out of my head. She occupied a part of my head. Literally. She was just there. Thoughts about how I'd saved her, how the wet clothes stuck to her skin like sin were what made my dick jump and stand at attention.I had never been so painfully hard before in my life and the next thing I knew, I was walking to the leather couch in my office, unbuttoning my pants as my dick sprung free. I had my cock in my hand as I stroked at leisure pace to the thoughts of Teya Moren. Then she walked in. The center of my obsession.I lost a few brain cells, probably, because I was stalking her, her back flat on th

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 22

Teya's POV Lucien kissed me again, slower this time—deeper. His mouth moved over mine like a prayer, like a man starved not just for touch but for meaning. It wasn’t just heat anymore—it was a connection. It was every wall he’d built crumbling. His hand slid from my waist to my ribs, fingers playing as if trying to memorize the shape of me. His touch was reverent, tentative, like he couldn’t quite believe I was real—like if he held too tightly, I might slip through his fingers.I arched into him, my breath catching as his lips trailed to my jaw, down the curve of my throat. Every place his mouth touched felt branded—electric with sensation. My fingers threaded through his hair, holding him close as a soft sound escaped me, involuntary and raw.Lucien stilled for a breath, his lips hovering at the base of my throat. A muscle in his jaw ticked, as though he were fighting something inside himself. His eyes searched mine—desperate, burning, but still holding on to the last thread of con

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 21

Teya's POV His hand hovered just above my jaw, not touching but close enough that I could feel a subtle tingle on my skin. It was as if his fingertips were waiting for permission, but they lingered there, unsure whether to move forward or back. The air around us grew thick with tension, every breath seeming heavier than the last. My heart pounded wildly in my chest, louder than I expected, beating like it wanted to break free. His eyes flickered with something unreadable—an emotion I couldn’t quite place—before softly murmuring, “I didn’t plan for you to see me. Not to see me like this, not to be caught off guard by what I was feeling.” His voice was quiet, almost hesitant, as if he was afraid to voice his true thoughts. “But maybe… maybe it’s good that you did.” His words hung in the air, quiet but loaded with meaning. My brain spun. I struggled to understand what he was trying to say. “Why?” I managed to whisper, my voice barely above a whisper, trembling with uncertainty. A bi

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 20

Teya's POVThe elevator doors hissed shut behind me, sealing me inside with only my thoughts for company. The pounding of my heartbeat was deafening—each thump loud enough to drown out every other sound. I had no idea how I was supposed to face Lucien when I saw him again. Should I demand answers? Accuse him of lying? Plead with him to tell the truth? My mind spun with all the possibilities, each more desperate than the last. I could feel the weight of uncertainty pressing down on me. My stomach clenched tight, nerves tingling in knots. And then, as if the universe decided to play a cruel joke, the elevator doors slid open. Instantly, my thoughts shattered into fragments, scattered by the sight awaiting me. His door was slightly ajar, welcoming, almost mocking. I hesitated, heart pounding louder than ever, instincts telling me to turn and run. But my feet refused to obey. I heard him before I saw him—something raw and primal in his breathing. A low, ragged breath that sounded like i
