Teya's POV

I'm not sure I'd ever seen the council chamber look this full.

Everybody had been summoned. Every Alpha, every beta, every elder, and almost every voice of influence in the pack was present. They were all there for the day of reckoning.

The air felt heavy with expectation, packed with the smallest tinge of smoke as an incense burned in the corners to help everyone stay calm.

Not that it was helping anyway.

Luviam was standing at the center with a file clutched tightly in his hands. He spoke calmly, not raising his voice.

"I call for an emergency vote,"he said. "On the matter concerning High Commander Kael, and whether or not he should be investigated formally for the crimes against this pack."

A ripple of gasps followed his words. Most were shocked, the others? Mostly unsurprised.

And I just did the only thing I could do at that moment. Stand behind Lucian while my heart hammered against my chest. My fingers were itching to hold on to someone or something, but then t

Lucien’s PovI had a bad feeling about all of this. We’d exposed Kael. The evidence was irrefutable—his twisted schemes, his manipulation, the surveillance, the secret files. He was in chains now, locked away in the Academy's most secure facility. Everyone said it was over. They were wrong.Because deep in my bones, I knew better. Something still lingered in the shadows. Teya had gone to her parents’ home, alone. She needed to. The last few days had taken a brutal toll on her—emotionally, physically, mentally. The confrontation with Kael, the attack, the truth about her mother, and the betrayal layered beneath it all… it would have broken a lesser person. But she was still standing. My perfect mate. I wanted to be by her side. Every damn instinct in me roared to follow, to protect her, to shield her from whatever might come next. But she’d asked for space—for time. And I respected her enough to give it, even if it killed me inside.Still, I couldn’t rest. There was something wrong i

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 86

Teya's POVI didn’t sleep. I Couldn’t sleep.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face. Kael’s. That smug grin, wide, cruel, victorious. Like he knew something I didn’t. Like he enjoyed watching my world tilt just a little more off its already fragile axis. Like he'd somehow..........won.I couldn’t get his words out of my head."I didn't kill Reya. But I have a surprise for you. How about you ask your mother dearest?"My breath hitched even now just thinking about it. There was something acidic clawing up my throat....rage, maybe. Or fear. I couldn’t tell anymore.I sat at the edge of Lucien’s bed with a blanket thrown over my shoulders, staring at the same spot on the wall for gods knew how long. The moonlight bleeding through the window wasn’t comforting tonight. It made the shadows longer, sharper. The silence was too loud.Behind me, Lucien stirred. He’d fallen asleep in the armchair, still in his formal wear from the council meeting. He hadn’t left my side, not even once.

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 84

Kael’s PovThis whole situation was an absolute disaster. A colossal screw-up of epic proportions. My meticulously crafted scheme, a masterpiece of manipulation, had gone spectacularly sideways. Every detail, every contingency, every single domino had been perfectly placed. And then, poof.......Vanished like a cheap magician's rabbit. My grand design was so elegantly simple. Reya was out of the picture, permanently unavailable. A tragedy, sure, but life, as they say, goes on. And if I couldn't have the original model, I'd settle for the next best thing. The spitting image, the clone, the uncanny resemblance. Her twin sister. Teya. That was the plan. Secure Teya. But ever since my idiotic nephew, Lucien, had waltzed into the picture, Teya had been… distracted. Fickle. Unpredictable. Like a kid with a sugar rush. And now? Now, the unthinkable had happened. They were both on to me. Both of them. How is that even possible?I had deployed my best hounds, unleashed a pack of highly train

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 83

Teya’s PovI still woke up sore, bruises blooming across my ribs and legs like the aftermath of a storm. Every breath tugged at the pain in my side, and it reminded me that what happened wasn’t just a nightmare. Not like I'd forget anytime soon. I blinked into the faint morning light slipping through the curtains and groaned softly as I pushed myself upright.Lucien stood at the window, his body rigid and tense, like he'd been carved from stone. He looked like he hadn't slept a wink. I could see it in the way his shoulders hunched forward, in the dark circles under his eyes. The air in the room felt thick, and heavy, as well as a bit uncomfortable.“Lucien,” I rasped. He didn’t turn to face me. “You’re awake.” He said. His voice was raspy. There was no warmth in his voice. I sat up slowly, trying not to wince, though it hurt like hell. “What happened? What did you find?”He finally turned around, a piece of paper in his hand. He crossed the room and handed it to me without saying a

  • The Human mate: Marked for vengeance.    Chapter 82

Lucien’s POVThe moon had long since dipped below the horizon, but sleep refused to come.Teya lay curled beneath my blankets, her breathing shallow but steady. Her body bore the aftermath of the ambush — angry bruises darkening her skin, a split lip, that wound near her ribs. Even in sleep, her face flinched sometimes, like her mind couldn’t let go of the violence either. I sat at the edge of the bed, watching her in the dim light, jaw clenched so tight it hurt.I wanted to be beside her. I wanted to hold her again like I had last night, when everything else had faded into nothing but breath and heat and the whisper of our bond humming between our bodies. But that softness didn’t belong to me tonight.Tonight belonged to the rot.To Kael.I stood quietly, slipping on a dark shirt and boots, ignoring the way my own body ached. There were bruises under my skin too, but they didn’t matter. I couldn’t afford to rest. Not with Teya lying broken in my bed and Kael still walking these hall
