Chapter 36

We drove to St. Johns shopping center. I remember with clarity now, the last time we both were in this same situation. It was on a Monday, it happened nearly two months ago. During that time, I was under my mothers influence. I was blind to the evil vixen hiding inside of her, the loving mother façade was all it was. I remember like it was yesterday, he came looking for me and we shopped here. That feels like a lifetime ago. As we walk through the stores, I muster up the courage to inquire with him if he would ever consider attending Cambridge or somewhere closer. I really want to make this work between us. He informs me that he had never given it a thought but, he loves the idea. I am surprised to hear that he has no intent to take over his fathers position. He hates that he will have to return “perhaps attending school will give me the opportunity to be free of him?” he gives me a bear hug and claims my lips as if he is thanking me for the thought.
