I had let Atlas sleep for most of the day, but I had no choice but to wake him in the afternoon to discuss the offer that the vampires had presented me with. I decided to leave the detail out about Viola. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure I must have imagined it. Probably baffled by the vampires suddenly wanting a truce. I had noticed how tired he looked. He didn’t seem to be quite himself, but I couldn’t get a sense of what the issue was. And anyway, I unfortunately had other matters that needed my attention.
