Kiara's dream

Introduction

Kiara woke in a panic, sweat beading across her forehead. Her heart was racing so fast she was sure her grandparents could hear it across the house in their bedroom. “It was that damn dream again” Kiara said still trying to catch her breath. She sat on her bed and thought back to it. Kiaras had the same dream so many times it’s practically burned into her brain. Kiara was younger in the dream, she couldn’t have been more than 4 years old. Kiara was with a woman she didn’t recognize but, in her dream she called her ‘mamma’ and held onto her leg tightly. They were standing at a train station. Kiara figured it was night time because it was completely empty besides her mother her and a few homeless people sleeping about 20 feet from them. “mamma why are we taking the train?” “mamma, where’s daddy?” “mamma, I’m tired.” The young Kiara asked looking at her momma with a curious look. “hush now Kiki, we are going to a friend’s for the night and daddy will pick us up in the morning” replied the woman young Kiara called momma. As the train was approaching in the distance, Kiara suddenly felt a huge force pulling her away from the beautiful woman she called mamma. In the same instance there was a man that grabbed the beautiful woman and threw her right in front of the train that for some reason didn’t stop. The evil man didn’t hesitate to turn around and glare at young Kiara. His eyes were glowing bright red and had an evil smirk that made his one dimple stand out more. “She’s dead now, you’re mine little Kiara” the man with the red eyes spat. Just as he started to come near her, he exposed his teeth that were definitely not normal teeth. They all came to a point at the end. Almost looking like shark teeth and 2 really large ones that stood out the most. Instead of points they were slightly hooked at the end. He was inches away from her face when she woke up. Kiara sits and thinks how is it possible to dream a dream so many times and it not be true. She thinks back to the scary man with pointy teeth. ‘There’s no way there is such a thing in this world’ Kiara thought to herself. She also thought about that beautiful lady she called mamma. It’s impossible for that lady to be that though, as Kiara’s mother died giving birth to her. Or at least that’s what her grandparents told her. Kiara was startled out of thought by the sound of her alarm clock going off. She reached over with a sigh and smacked it hard to turn it off. It was 6:30am time to shower for school. As Kiara was grabbing her towel from the hallway closet she suddenly heard movement behind her. Kiara whipped around quickly to find her grandmother making her way down the narrow hallway towards her with big smile on her face. “ Happy fifteenth birthday pumpkin, any special orders for breakfast this morning?” asked Kiara’s grandmother staring at her grand daughter dotingly. “ Thank you Nanna, mmmmmmm… chocolate chip pancakes?” Kiara asked holding her hands under her chin and batting her long beautiful eyelashes. Ever since Kiara remembered all she ever had to do was flap her beautiful eyelashes and who ever was the recipient of them would cave I’m and give her what she was asking for. Her grandmother was not naïve to this but, for some reason still couldn’t resist caving in to her grand daughter. “ Anything for your special day. Now hurry up and shower so you can take your time eating today and actually chew your food before school.” “ yes nanna” Kiara showered quickly as her Nanna asked. While in the shower her mind wondered off to those glowing red eyes and sharp teeth. A knock at the door startled her right out of her thoughts. “Kiara breakfast is ready” her grandmother called out from the other side of the door. “ Coming Nanna” Kiara yelled out. Once out the shower Kiara towel dried her hair quickly, then wrapped the towel around herself and ran to her room. She made her way to her small walk in closet her grandmother insisted every teenage girl needed. Kiara thought otherwise as she herself wasn’t too into fashion. If it was up to Kiara she’d stay in leggings and t-shirts all day long. Her grandmother on the other hand thought it was unacceptable and she needed to more variety and a new outfit for every occasion. Kiara loved her Nanna dearly but she wished she wasn’t so focused on looks and what everyone thinks so often. Kiara went through her tops and finally settled on green tight fitting long sleeve and some skinny jeans. Everything hugged to her body tightly extenuating every curve she had, standing at 5’6 with ivory skin and bright green eyes and long naturally curly eylashes. Kiara could easily pass as 18 with how she looked. Kiara stood in front of the mirror with her bright green eyes popping even more with the green shirt. She was definitely hands down flawless. She needed no make-up as her skin was blemish free perfect looking. Her ivory skin stood out and her long wavy raven black hair was envied by all. Kiara could care less about her appearance but she knew she didn’t even need to try. She finished up and ran to the kitchen with an appetite she’s never had before. After making her way through 8 pancakes, her stomach was nice and full. “Wow Kiki you really put down some pancakes today, have you been starving yourself?” Kiara’s grandfather asked her jokingly. “ I know gramps, I don’t know what’s come over me but I woke up starving, must be from those extra workouts I’ve been doing to drop my time.” Kiara responded. She had been doing extra training lately to drop her running time so she could finally tryout for varsity track this year. If she made it she would be the first sophomore to ever make it to varsity at her school. “Ya must be, don’t burn yourself out doing all these extra workouts. Think longevity Kiki, you want that gold right? Well don’t over due it before your career in it even starts.” “ Yes gramps i—” Kiara got cut off from her phone ringing. In big letters the phone read Ketzia my bitch which her and her best friend since first grade used as a term of endearment towards each other “biiiiiiiittcchhhhh Happppy Fuuuccking Birthday!!! Hurry up I’m outside” click—Ketzia hung up before Kiara could answer. “ Alright Nanna I’m leaving, thank you for the delicious breakfast. See you both later love you two.” Kiara hurriedly gave them both a kiss on the cheek goodbye, grabbed her book bag and headed outside. Ketzia was fixing her make up in the rear view mirror, looking gorgeous with her caramel skin and curly light brown hair. She looked up to scream happy Birthday once more to her best friend. As Kiara got in the car Ketzia reached in the back seat and pulled out a small gift bag and placed it on Kiara’s lap. “I thought I said no gifts Z” “ Oh come on it’s not everyday your best friend turns 15! Anyways it’s also from my mom and dad too so they would be hurt if you didn’t accept it” Ketzia looked at Kiara with determination in her eyes. She really wanted Kiara to have this gift, Kiara reluctantly accepted it. She opened it and saw it was a brand new phone. “ I already have a phone Z, and you know Nanna and gramps don’t approve of the newer technology and would not be happy with this especially because it has internet access.” “ look Kiara I know you love your grandparents but don’t you think they restrict you a little too much? I find it so weird they don’t even allow you to use g****e.” The one thing her grandparents did not tolerate was social media platforms of any kind. They never even allowed Kiara to use computer that had any internet access on it. It never bothered Kiara until she got to high-school. In this day of age if you didn’t have a social media following you were an outcast. As for Kiara she was too beautiful to be an outcast Ketzia would always remind her of that, especially now that Kelsey and her goons had Kiara on their radar. This past summer was good to Kiara, she filled in all the right places and was catching everyone’s attention. Number one being Kelsey and her goons following right behind her on that list. They lived to torment Kiara, mainly because of jealousy. Ever since her boyfriend Jeff dumped her and has had eyes for Kiara. Kiara on the other hand is blind to it all as she’s never thought a handsome senior jock would give her the time of day or even think of her as anything else other than a friend. Kiara stayed there looking at the new phone and eventually started pressing buttons mumbling to herself “how does this thing turn on? Oh there’s the button.” Answering her own question. “Hahaha are you sure you’re turning 15 and not 61?” Ketzia jabbed at her best friend. “ Ha Ha Ha” replied Kiara in her best sarcastic laugh she could muster up while she continuously was pressing buttons on the phone.
