Jade Pinkerton's pov

“Great, the poor thing thinks I am a monster,” I muttered sullenly and headed outside on the balcony for some fresh air.

The breeze caused a chill on my skin, so I crossed my arms as I thought about everything that had occurred, only to make myself more depressed.

“I'm not a horrible person, and I don't know why I was given this stupid birthmark,” I groaned internally, then buried my face into my hands.

My wrist hurt, and I cursed from the pain it caused, then lowered my hands to see Nikolai standing there looking at me quizzically.

He awkwardly lifted the bottle of wine and the two flutes he held.

“Are you talking to yourself?” He questioned and I curled my lip angrily and snapped, “No…I'm pissed at myself for what I did and because Jesse's scared of me now because of the stupid birthmark on my lower back.”

    Jade Pinkerton's pov The following morning I woke to an empty bed. My stomach sank as my eyes focused on my nightstand to see a long-stemmed red rose and a handwritten letter addressed to me. “Did he leave to get the twin,” I muttered sourly as I reached to grab the note.
