Jade’s Pinkerton's

I couldn't believe that I had been captured in my own home. Tied up to the back of an ATV and a cloth sack put over my head, I had lost the ball cap my father had given me years back.

Feeling defeated, I slumped behind the odd man driving with the only thought of knowing that maybe I'd be taken to the place Monica was taken and be able to see her. Perhaps we could escape together.

Feeling my cell phone vibrate in my pocket, I gritted my teeth, wanting to see what notification I could be receiving, but I was shit out of luck with my hands bound behind my back.

My thoughts drifted to the smexy guy from the grocery store, and I wondered if he, like me, was tied up from the freaks killing off us humans.

I wanted to know what they intended for us and if Monica was right about us being food.

“Are you going to eat me,” I questioned the person driving, and he growled for me to remain quiet.

Rolling my eyes, I pinched my lips and jerked myself around pissing him off more.

My brow furrowed further when we stopped, and his partner, Marcus, said something disturbing.

“Using the explosives as a fake meteor shower as a way to disrupt the humans was brilliant. They're too stupid to realize that it wasn't complete destruction and more of an illusion,” the man chuckled.

“Shut your trap, Marcus, human beings are weaker than us but not stupid,” the guy named James said firmly, sitting in front of me.

“Is the earth alright?” I asked under my coverings.

“See what you started,” James hissed through his teeth.

“Please just tell me,” I pleaded, and heard a sigh.

“Your questions can be answered by Commander Romanov if he chooses to disclose them to you. I'm delivering you to his room,” the man said stiffly, and I was jerked back on the ATV as he continued speeding forward.

With my thoughts churning in my head, I was chewing on my bottom lip as I tried to make sense of it all. I hadn't seen all the destruction that supposedly occurred; my town looked like an earthquake had hit, and maybe it had, but it had given an illusion of meteors hitting due to the announced shower on the local news. I wondered about the posts Monica had shown me but realized that anyone could write bullshit on the Internet and shook my head. AI could have created the photos and articles as well.

“Deviously cunning,” I mumbled to myself as we skidded to a stop.

Getting untied from the ATV, placed to my feet on the ground, and I was jerked forward by the attached rope and almost stumbled.

“I'm taking you up flights of stairs, so watch your step,” James asserted.

‘“Sure thing, Mister, I will use my aura to see, dumb ass,” I grumbled as I stepped up the stairs I had run into.

Assuming it was a porch, I grew curious about where I was. We had only traveled a relatively short distance, perhaps twenty miles. Hearing a door open, I was pulled inside and bumped into the ass holding my rope.

“I'm going to lead you upstairs to the Commander's bedroom, so don't trip,” James asserted, and I shrugged.

“I will try my best not to,” I replied sourly and felt the rope pulling me forward.

Stepping up the stairs, my nerves were fraying, and I shivered in my worry. Refusing to allow my fears to consume me, I inhaled deeply, smelling the wet dog scent coming from the bag over my head, and thought instantly of that furry beast, the Lycan, and shuddered.

Hearing a knock and a man's voice saying, “Come in,” I frowned as I felt hands on my shoulders, moving me into the room.

Standing as if on display, I snapped, “This is ridiculous. I am not a piece of room decor!”

The bag was yanked off my head, and my eyes narrowed at the man sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Ah we meet again,” he said, and I curled my lip angrily.

“I knew it! You're a monster,” I spat, causing his sharp jawline to twitch.

Getting my arm yanked by James, he whispered harshly, “ That is our head Commander, Nikolai Romonav, you insolent female.”

Giving him a stoic glare, I shrugged.

“I shot him four times, he's not that much of a badass,” I sassed, hearing gasps from the other one I had shot, called Marcus.

Glancing back at Nikolai, I raised my brow, seeing his tan bare tattooed chest and him only wearing a pair of gray sweatpants.

“What do you want from me,” I inquired calmly.

His eyes reflected red as he spoke sternly.

“Jade, you will be my blood slave and do all that I ask of you without reluctance.”

Shaking my head, I chuckled, “ Like hell, I will, Buddy.”

Seeing his eyes widen I was surprised when he said, “No fucking way. I can't compel you?!”

“Was that what you were doing?” I laughed softly at his failure.

Seeing Nikolai nod, I felt cold metal getting clasped around my wrists and ankles, along with the ropes getting untied. I thought then that I should have pretended to be meek and go along with his delusional show. At least I could move my arms freely. I exhaled deeply to calm my disgust.

Peeking up at the attractive man, I narrowed my eyes at him, telling James to bring in the redhead.

Turning my head at the sound of the door opening I gasped at Monica stumbling in. She looked emaciated and had bite marks covering her arms and bare legs

“You bastards! What have you done to her!”

I reached out for her arm, and when she looked at me, her eyes were glassy and peered right through me.

“Come here,” Nikolai asserted and she stepped around me and headed toward the man who was now standing and eyeing me cruelly.

Seeing my best friend standing there weak and compliant I shuddered.

“Jade, as you can see your acquaintance is under my compulsion and will do anything that I ask. Including allowing me to drink the last remaining blood that flows through her veins. Shall I demonstrate for you?”

I glared at him as I watched Monica tilt her neck for him as he brushed her red curly hair out of the way.

“What do you want from me,” I asked him as moisture collected in my eyes.

Nikolai paused briefly and glanced over at me.

“Give me your word that you will obey me. If you don't I will end her life,” he growled assertively, causing gooseflesh to appear on my skin.

Weighing my options I nodded.

“Say it with words, female,” he roared.

“Fine, I give you my word that I will obey you,” I mumbled softly and he nodded, pleased with my answer.

“Take this back to her cell and leave me until supper,” he said firmly before stepping up before me.

I stared at his pretty blue eyes, refusing to blink my own.

Once the other two had left the air I held in my lungs escaped from between my lips and the corner of his lips curled up a bit.

“You have a lovely scent, female. It's a shame that you're human,” he said flippantly and I raised my brow.

“At least I'm not a smelly dog that drinks blood!”

He changed instantly into a menacing beast and I felt fearful.

Raising his clawed fingers around my throat, I was wide-eyed, staring into the face of a frightening creature with amazing blue eyes.

“I'm a Lycan hybrid and half-vampire, you pathetic mortal! Don't fuck with me,” he asserted and I looked him in the eyes and asked him if he was going to eat me, shocking him since he stepped back and rubbed his eyes while I bit my lip nervously.

“No, I will only drink from you once a week,” he said firmly and turned, shifting once again into his smexy human, then began arguing with himself.

“Are you mental,” I asked, hearing the chain clanking as I spun my index finger near my temple.

Side-eyeing me he huffed and closed his eyes while shaking his head.

“Not that it's any of your business but I speak with my Lycan, Ares. He doesn't like you very much,” he snapped and I didn't respond.

I just crossed my arms and drawled reluctantly, “OKAY.”

Nikolai Romonav’s pov Stuck in my large, secluded mountain home, I sat in my office with sore thighs, chest, and shoulders. I listened to the chatter over the handheld radios my troop leaders held. They were currently trying to capture more blood donors to be auctioned off for us to share in the profits with. The rest of the prisoners they intended to keep for themselves. Doing this on my own, I was risking the Moon Council's wrath but cared little. I was bored, and this small town was easy pickings. All I had to do was blow the single bridge and cell phone towers. I was lucky that the area I was in charge of had little to no guns. “But they have a female that is skilled with a bow,” my Lycan Ares growled sourly in my mind as I rubbed my sore shoulder. “So they have Ares, but I have her acquaintance in my dungeon, so I will capture the human and keep her for sport. Besides, she needs to pay for causing me injury. No one gets the better of me and lives long,” I snarled just as

Jade Pinkerton's pov The storm clouds moved in quicker than I expected and I was watching the dark snowflakes that started to fall with a creased brow. The temperature had dropped several degrees and I shivered in my summer attire. “The dirt from the meteors hitting us is causing this odd weather,” Monica moaned, joining me in the doorway. Her cell phone was in her hand. “How much battery do you still have?” “Thirty percent but my signal keeps going in and out,’” she replied. Letting several thick flakes fall into my palm I rubbed my thumb pad against them and felt the grit in it as they melted. “Crazy,” I muttered as I continued to watch the dark gray snowfall across the landscape. “I hope that the injured man made it safely to wherever he wandered off to,” I said absentmindedly and got a snicker from my friend. “You REALLY must have wanted some D from the guy if you're still thinking about him,” she teased and I shook my head. “Can't let my mind wander to sexy time

Jade Pinkerton's pov Exhaustion finally hit me, and I drifted off to sleep propped against the inner wall of the tiny storage cold room. My dreams were centered on that male bipedal wolf, and my mouth frowned in my sleep. Dreaming of him touching my face, my eyes flew open to see Monica tapping my face. “It's morning, and the sun is out. We took a gander outside, and it's really bad,” she said sullenly. Rubbing my eyes, I took the cell phone she had waved before me, and I glanced at the comments from across the entire world. “They're saying that the creatures are werewolves and vampires. That bipedal thing is a Lycan. All the low-level areas were washed out by the comet that hit the ocean, you know, like what happened with the dinosaurs,” she muttered in devastation. “My mom and stepfather are certainly dead then. They lived near the coast,” I mumbled sadly. “The earthquakes are going to continue, but up in the mountains, we're pretty isolated from the worst of it. The b

Jade Pinkerton's pov The thing trying to break down the door had wandered off so Monica and I relaxed a little and rummaged through the office with our phone flashlights. “Were you still up drinking when this shit storm happened,” I asked her. “Yeah, we had what felt like an earthquake, then all those balls of fire started hitting. I got some information from the Internet before the signal was lost. A huge comet broke up before the rest slammed into the earth,” she said softly. “Why didn't the news tell us it was coming,” I commented to get her rolling her eyes at me. “The government isn't going to tell us plebs shit and are probably in their underground bunkers drinking expensive wine and eating crackers with fish eggs,” Monica grumbled, causing me to laugh. “Doesn't explain why mythical creatures are roaming around though,” she added in an odd whisper. “Well, hopefully, they are like the storybooks and will be in hiding during the daytime. In the meantime, we need to g

  • The Hybrid's Captive   Chapter 1 Introduction

Jade Pinkerton's pov I had gone to bed early because I wasn't interested in seeing the meteor shower that the news announced would be visible during the evening. All I was concerned about was getting to sleep before work at the coffee shop in the morning. Resting comfortably in my twin bed in my second-story apartment, I was suddenly awakened by a loud-sounding notification on my cell phone along with my room shaking. Lifting my phone from the charger, my tired eyes tried to focus on the words from my best friend, Monica. When my eyes raced across the announcement, I muttered, “What in the hell?” That's when I saw numerous balls of fiery lights falling from the night sky, then numerous loud explosions filled the peaceful night of my tranquil small mountain town. Emergency sirens began wailing next as I peered out my window at the chaos happening across my street. It was like the apocalypse, and I scrambled for my clothes in the darkness. The electricity had been knocked ou
