Jade’s pov

Hearing my cell phone begin to ring in my shorts back pocket I gritted my teeth and sat down on the couch to muffle the sound or possibly end the call.

Seeing Nikolai rush toward me with a suspicious scowl on his face I gave him an innocent look in return.

Stopping before me he thrusted his open palm to me and growled, “Give me it, NOW!”

“I will but please let me know who it is that is calling me. I haven't heard from my parents yet and fear that they're dead from the comet,” I said sullenly as I dug my cell phone out of my pocket and he grabbed it from my hand.

Watching him glance down at the screen he turned it to face me and said, “It says, Mom.”

It stopped ringing and I frowned.

“You can call her back and tell her that you are fine, but make it quick, or your friend is dead,” he asserted.

Surprised by his offer, I decided to ask him about the destruction.

“Did a comet hit the ocean and destroy parts of the Earth?”

His blue eyes crinkled at their corn

    Jade Pinkerton pov Pulling on my hair I was conflicted. I was attracted to Nikolai but he was a murderer and not human. “What in the hell am I doing,” I groaned internally as I sat on the couch and rubbed my face. “He drank too much of my blood and has clouded my thoughts, obviously,” I huffed. The chains clanked against each other as they hung from the cuffs on my wrists. Exhaling deeply, I glanced at the doorknob, turning. I narrowed my eyes, awaiting who I assumed was Nikolai or Jesse as they entered.     Jade Pinkerton pov Feeling him finally licking my neck, I closed my eyes, savoring the jolts of pleasure it caused. “Please don't try to run away from me again,” Nikolai growled softly, causing me to crack open my right eye and peek at him. “Why would you ask me that?” I questioned as I turned to face him.     Jade Pinkerton pov Looking at the tray before me I glanced up and watched Nikolai rise to leave me with his own food. I wanted to question him more about my dad but it was obvious that it was a sore subject for him. He headed into his office while I looked at what was on my plate. Glancing up at him, I noticed that he was chewing on a T-bone that hung from his mouth. He ripped it away then eyed me. “I'm trying to enjoy my meal, okay, chatty Cathy. I enjoy having my meals in peace; otherwise, I would be downstairs with my men,” he asserted. I took another bite of the chicken leg and nodded as I lowered my eyes from his intense ones.
