CHLOE
Since the vampire king’s attack, a lot changed. I was awestruck that vampires, werewolves, and humans could coexist. Vampires and werewolves were sworn enemies, while humans were hunters are born to hunt both vampires and werewolves, but we all lived together because we all had one enemy, the vampire king, who wanted everyone to bow and surround their will to him.
Everyone was trying to work together to ensure their safety, but that didn’t give some vampires the right to think they were better than the rest of the race. It was in their blood, and it didn’t appear that it would change anytime soon.
I want the vampire race destroyed entirely if it were up to me. The world will be a better place without them. There would have been no vampire king if they had not existed, and my parents would still be alive, watching me go to school and graduate as the best student, and they would have been proud of me, and the world would be at peace.
I’ve often wondered why humans, so-called vampires, and werewolves didn't just join forces together and attack the vampire king all at once, rather than patiently waiting for the day he attacks them. This was a mystery I didn’t think I’d be able to unravel anytime soon.
Everyone in Roseville was waiting for the vampire king to come and attack them, and they weren’t the only ones. I was also waiting for him to come, and I had been praying to the moon goddess to ensure he came along with his troops. I had promised myself that I would take him along with me to my grave.
A tap on my shoulder jolted me out of my thoughts, and I turned to face the person who had tapped me on the shoulder. A middle-aged woman with a smile on her face.
“Isn’t this your bus stop?” When she asked, I turned around to see that she was right. I’d gotten lost in my thoughts yet again.
After thanking the woman, I stepped off the bus and pulled my hoodie over my head. I didn’t like exposing myself because I wanted my face to remain a mystery to everyone, and I tended to hide when the place was crowded because I wasn’t a fan of people, especially in places where vampires lured around.
As I walked down the school’s entrance, I noticed a few things: older students were in groups exchanging pleasantries, while freshers like myself were frantically trying to register for their courses.
I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. College was nothing like high school. In high school, there were students at the school’s entrance waiting to assist new students, but in college, everyone was too busy doing their own thing to care if they were new or not.
Nobody cared if you were a vampire, werewolf, or human at Greenfield High. They all saw each other as one, and each specie was present in every friend group you saw. I don’t think I want to be found in such groups; I’d rather hang out with humans than vampires. I don’t think I’ll ever be friends with a vampire.
I was lost in thought when someone bumped into me, causing me to fall hard to the ground.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going, loser,” a guy in black jean trousers, and a striped shirt said as he walked by me without stopping to apologize. I assumed it was an accident at first because I wasn’t looking where I was going, and I assumed it was the same with him, but the smirk on his face told me it was a deliberate act and he wanted to cause trouble.
“What a dumb ass. I’d stay clear of him if I were you,” a voice behind me said, and I turned to look. It was a guy. “I hope you’re all right?”
“I’m fine, thanks for asking,” I said.
“No worries. If you want, I can help you in getting back on your feet.” He extended his hands towards me, which I accepted while he pulled up.
“Thank you-” I was dazzled by the sight in front of me. I’d only seen handsome and beautiful people from afar, so standing close to one was not something I expected anytime soon. He was tall and well-built, with light green eyes. His features screamed hot and dangerous.
“My name is Axel Moore. I’m in the faculty of life sciences, department of biochemistry. You?” he asked.
“Huh…. My name is Chloe Gillian, same faculty and department,” I replied, withdrawing my hand from his grip.
“I’m sorry about the... uh... your hands. Anyway, have you finished your registration?”
“Nah, not yet. I was about to go there when that rude guy over there bumped into me. He’s a jerk and a moron to act like that,” I let out.
“Watch what you say around here. According to rumors, he is a wealthy man’s son, and his father is the one who provides the school with everything we need. I don’t know who the father is, but just be careful,” a voice from behind us said, startling us.
“And you are?” Axel questioned.
“Oh my... Where are my manners? I’m Amalia, a freshman like you, and we happen to be in the same department. I'm sorry I overheard your conversation,” she replied with a smile. Just then, a guy approached us, panting heavily.
“Amalia… So this is where you’ve been all along. I’ve been looking for you. We were supposed to be registering for our courses,” the guy whined.
“I’m sorry, I was just making new friends. They are freshmen in the same department as us. We can help them,” she explained.
“Hi, guys. My name is Diego Rodriques, and I’m her cousin.”
“I’m Chloe Gillian.”
“I’m Axel Moore.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you both. Well, let’s go, unless you all want to miss today’s first class,” Amalia said, and we nodded before following them to register for our classes. Fortunately, we were able to meet the first-class halfway.
I was thrilled that we were seated in the back. I hated sitting in the front because it drew attention to you, and I hated attention in general.
“Hey, Chloe eyes up front. Guess who just walked in?” Amalia directed my attention to the board. It was the same guy who had knocked me down and refused to apologize. I was going to make him apologize no matter what. My gaze met his, and we locked gazes.
I felt my heart skip a beat as he stared at me with those deep brown eyes, so I quickly averted my gaze from him and returned it to Amalia.
“He is the jerk who bumped into me without apologizing,” I explained. I recognized him right away because of his outfit, which I made a point of remembering before he walked away from me.
“I know, that’s why I drew your attention, and guess what, he’s our coursemate. This will be interesting,” Amalia said, rubbing her hands together.
“I’m going to approach him.”
“No, you are not. Remember what Amalia told us earlier,” Axel warned.
“Who cares if his father is sponsoring the school? He made a mistake and should accept responsibility for it. He has no right to run into someone, not apologize, and then be rude to the person. I’m going to go up to him. Don’t bother trying to stop me.”
GRAYSONI've always had the feeling that things don’t always work the way I want them to, that my entire being was being controlled, and that I couldn't do anything about it. I hated the fact that I had to transfer from my old school to a new one. I was transferred because of an incident in which I had no involvement.A male student attempted suicide. He didn’t succeed, but he did end up in a coma, and without a proper investigation, I was accused of pushing him. I was expelled and ordered not to leave the house or travel until it was too late.It was later discovered that he committed the crime on his own initiative. No matter how much they apologized, it was too late to remove the stigma from my name, so I was told to transfer schools or study outside of the country, which I initially declined but later accepted. I had to restart my life, get a new apartment, meet new people, and make new friends, which was difficult for me. Starting from scratch was difficult and I hated it. I w
CHLOEThis was not how I had wanted the confrontation to play out. I wanted to meet with him and ask for an apology. That was my intention, but he had decided to deliberately provoke me and piss me by pretending he hadn’t done anything to me and didn’t recognize me.I would have gotten into trouble if it hadn’t been for my friends, all because of someone who was not worth it. My perfect reputation as the perfect girl was ruined by him, and now I guess the entire college will remember me as someone who was always picking fights. My quiet life was ruined, as was my intention to leave college as a nobody. With this single act, I’ve made myself popular.“Fvck!! I hate him so much that if you hadn’t intervened, I would have punched him in the face. I wanted to punch him in the face because he’s fvcking annoying!” I said it loud enough so that only my friends could hear me.“And then what? Get yourself punished. You think this is a top-tier college where you can get away with anything? No,
GRAYSONSomething about her fascinated me and drew me in. I wanted to learn more about her, spend some quality time with her, and still tease her. I couldn’t concentrate on what was being taught in the class at that moment because my entire attention was on her and her alone. I observed how she smiled, laughed, and wrote notes in her notebook while maintaining a serious expression.I’m not sure how time flew by, but the sound of the bell jolted me, and I saw everyone else leave the classroom except her. She remained preoccupied with what she was writing in her notebook. Naturally, I was not the type to wait for others to leave before leaving the classroom, but I had found something that would keep me occupied. It was all her; her pheromones excited me, and I wanted to learn more about her, what she did, how she lived, what she did for fun, in short, everything about her.I wanted to know everything while still teasing her as much as possible. I suppose teasing her would bring her clos
KING THEODORE“My Lord, there is a prophecy, and this time it is the worst that we can imagine,” said Tim, the king’s favorite man.“What happened this time, and what is the prophecy?” I asked and waited for Tim to reveal the prophecy.“The child of the prophecy that would bring your reign to an end is still alive and of age…” Tim responded, and I screamed. This was not possible. I’d made sure I’d killed everyone in the Pack and that not a single soul remained alive. So, how did the prophecy child escape the massacre? It was not meant to be, it was impossible.I had been in a meeting with the leaders of my Pack when the witch delivered the scroll to me. She had read it aloud for everyone to hear.‘A child is born into the werewolf clan, a hybrid who will bring light and hope to the world. He would be known as the world’s hero, and he would be the one to put an end to the vampire king’s reign, thereby bringing peace to the world.’I recalled being filled with rage and declaring war aft
“Princess, why do you always sit and stare at the ceiling when you wake up? Is there something bothering you, my love?” Damien asked as he sat next to me on the bed, “A penny for thoughts, please, because I'm worried about you.”“Nothing bothers me, dad. I was just thinking about my life and how grateful I am,” I replied.“So, what are you grateful for?” he asked, and I took a deep breath before looking him in the eyes.“I’m just grateful for how my life has turned out thanks to meeting you, Mum, and my amazing friends. I kept wondering what my life would have been like without you all. I would have been miserable and helpless, if not dead. Thank you, dad, I love you,” I said.I was lying to him yet again. The truth was that I had the same nightmare about my parents dying, but this time it was different because the vampire king was there and he was the one doing the killing, and this time he smiled at me as he approached me, dragging the bloodied sword on the ground. I shivered in fea
CHLOEThe drive to school was quiet. Damien didn’t ask what was wrong or why I wasn’t resting as much as I should have; instead, he remained silent, clearly not wanting to bother me or intrude on my personal space. I felt bad for keeping things from him. I knew he worried about me right from when I was growing up.I wasn’t allowed to do things that kids my age did. I wasn’t allowed to leave the house; I had to stay close by so they could keep an eye on me. I thought they were protecting me at first because of what had happened in the past, but even now they kept their eyes on me as if I were still a child; I was twenty-one years old but was still treated as if I were an eight-year-old child. It made me suspicious. I began questioning their every move regarding my decisions, and each time I asked both of them, they always gave me the same answer, as if it were scripted.“The world isn’t as peaceful as it once was. We have no idea when the vampire king will strike again. We only have yo
CHLOE“Hello, mates. My name is Grayson Smith, and I’m a member of the group.”“Fuck!!” Before I could stop myself, the words were already out of my mouth. This was not what I wanted. It was wrong having him as a groupmate. Was the universe pulling a fast one on me? The universe already knows I don’t like vampires, especially ones like him, who don’t know how to apologize when they are wrong. He’s bad news, and he’s going to slow down our work, causing us to fall behind schedule. Then he dared to bring a blonde who wasn’t ready to let go of him. The sight of them disgusted me, and I demanded that they leave the group or I would have to leave. In any case, I couldn’t stand him. “What strings did you pull to get yourself into my group? Isn’t it bad enough that you’re already getting on my nerves, and now you’ve brought your Bambi here to annoy and slow us down?” I slammed my fist against the desk.“Take it easy, tiger,” Axel said, trying to calm the situation.“It’s Scarlett, and why s
CHLOEIt’s been three days, and the project is coming along nicely. I expected it to be difficult having both of them around, but Grayson had given me the space I needed, probably because he knew his presence was making me uncomfortable.I was relieved he wasn’t coming around too frequently, only when he needed to submit the ones he'd written to Axel, who would then forward it to the group. The only problem was Bambi. She kept putting off the work and asking everyone to help her. It was exhausting, but Diego was willing to help her while all she did was make a fool of herself around Grayson.I sighed and leaned against my locker. I was completely exhausted. Being a leader was not an easy task. I had to put every piece of work on the slide that would be presented on Monday, and some work was still incomplete.“This is going to be an exhausting day for me,” I said to no one as I opened my locker to get my books for today’s classes.I hadn’t been able to sleep all night. I had been up la
