Mag-log inNOAH'S POV
The ambiance inside L’Éclipse was exactly what my father paid for… stifling, over-priced, and exclusive. The Michelin-star restaurant was lit by low, amber crystal chandeliers, the tables draped in white tablecloths. Only old money sat here. It was a place where people whispered their insults and smiled while cutting into fifty-dollar bland steaks. Ariana sat across from me, looking every bit the perfect high-society ballerina. She wore a bright red silk dress, and just sat there scrolling through her phone with a bored expression. “They're late,” She murmured, not looking up. “How typical of that Poverty-stricken University.” “Relax, Ariana,” I said smoothly, lifting my glass of mineral water. “They have five minutes.” How I was able to convince her to come to this date, or how she had willingly agreed to come was still nagging at the back of my mind. Right on cue, the doors opened. The host led Calix and Isla toward our private corner booth. Calix looked stiff, wearing the high-collared black button-down shirt I knew he’d choose. He had fastened every single button to the top, hiding the purple territory I had stamped into his neck. Beside him, Isla was wearing a pretty green cocktail dress that was clearly expensive for her, but still a far cry from the designer labels Ariana wore. She was smiling, but her eyes were wide, overwhelmed by the luxury of the room. I immediately stood up, flashing a dazzling smile as I played the part of the Elite gentleman to perfection. “Isla, right? It's a pleasure to finally meet you,” I said, my voice dripping with charm. I stepped around the table and gracefully pulled out her chair for her. “Calix has told me so much about you.” Isla’s cheeks flushed a bright pink as she sat down. “Oh, thank you, Noah! Wow, this place is so beautiful. Thank you so much for inviting us.” “Only the best for the captain of our rival team and his lovely guest.” I replied, sliding back into my seat beside Ariana. I raised a hand to catch the waiter's eye. “Let's start with a bottle of the Dom Pérignon '08, please. A celebration for Northcott's newest couple.” Calix sat down across from me, his eyes locked onto his empty plate. His jaw was clenched so tightly I could see the muscle ticking in his cheek. He looked so uncomfortable. Ariana let out a soft laugh, setting her phone down. Her eyes traveled slowly down Isla’s dress, her painted lips curving into a passive-aggressive smile. “It really is a cute restaurant, isn't it? Though I must say, Isla, you're very brave for wearing that shade of green. It’s so... old-fashion. Very typical of the local boutiques near Northcott. Down here in the Kensington district, we usually prefer actual designer labels.” Isla’s smile faltered for a second, her hand subconsciously reaching up to touch her skirt. “Oh. I actually got it online for—” “I think the green looks fantastic, Isla,” I interrupted smoothly, cutting Ariana off calmly before turning a warm, protective smile back to my baby boy's girlfriend. “Don't mind my fiancée. She thinks if a dress doesn't come directly from a runway in Paris, it doesn't exist. Don't take it too seriously. You look elegant tonight, Isla.” Isla’s eyes lit up, dazzled by my compliments. Exactly how I wanted it. “Thank you, Noah. That's really nice of you to say.” Beside her, Calix didn't say a single word. He just grabbed his water glass, his eyelashes fluttering uncontrollably. Inside my head, a wicked monster was laughing hysterically. By acting like the perfect, charming savior, I was blowing Calix out of the water. To Isla, her boyfriend just looked like an inadequate, moody athlete who couldn't even defend her, while I looked like royalty. Bwahahaha! Ariana scoffed softly, leaning back in her chair. She swirled her empty wine glass, her eyes darting between Isla’s naive face and Calix’s stiff posture. But, barely a minute later, she leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand, staring directly at Isla with a malicious look in her eyes. “So, Isla,” Ariana began, her voice dripping with fake curiosity. “How exactly did you and Calix meet? I’ve always wondered how girls handle dating someone like him. I mean, he’s a hockey player just like Noah. They’re known for... well, taking a lot of things to the face… and mouth.” Isla blinked, looking a bit confused. “Oh, we’ve known each other for a long time, but just as school mates. And Calix is really careful on the ice, he doesn't get hurt much.” Ariana chuckled dryly, her eyes shifting over to glare directly into Calix’s pale face. “Oh, I didn't mean injuries, sweetie. I just mean... Well, Calix has such a reputation for being a real cock sucker on and off the field. He really knows how to take a man down on his knees, right? I always wonder how a girlfriend handles a guy who works so well with his mouth. I bet he keeps a lot of dirty secrets behind his teeth.” The air at the table instantly turned to ice. Isla’s jaw dropped slightly, her brow furrowing in deep, innocent confusion. “I... I'm sorry? What do you mean by that?” Calix froze entirely. He stopped breathing, his eyes snapping up to look at Ariana with a flash of terror and anger at the same time. Meanwhile, Ariana just took a slow sip of her wine, enjoying the panic radiating off Calix’s body. I knew there was a reason why she easily agreed to this date, knowing what me and Calix had been up to before. And why the hell did I even think it was a good idea to have this date? Stupid! Ariana opened her mouth to dig the knife in even deeper. “Well, you see, Isla, some boys just look straight, but behind closed doors, they're actually—” Underneath the table, I grabbed Ariana’s thigh lightly like a warning, as I glared at her from the side of my eyes. “Just stop.” My eyes screamed at her. Ariana gasped slightly, shooting me a furious look, her chest heaving with silent anger or whatever. For a second, I thought she was going to throw her wine right in my face. But she knew better than to ruin a Kensington public appearance. She angrily eyed me, shifted her leg away from my grip under the table, and looked away, finally shutting her big mouth. “Anyway,” Ariana muttered… again! Jeez, I thought she was finally going to be quiet. Her voice was tight as she forced a change of subject. “The charity gala next weekend is going to be spectacular. Noah's father is donating a million dollars.” “Oh, wow,” Isla said, letting out a small, relieved breath. I could tell she was still confused by the weird wording about Calix, but the mention of high-society charity quickly distracted her. I leaned back in the booth, my eyes slid away from the girls and fixed only on Calix, and my gaze drifted down to his throat. Because of the high black collar, I couldn't see my lovely bruises on him, but every single time he swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbed up and down against the stiffness of his shirt. He was sweating, and breathing too hard that I could hear it from where I was. I continued to stare at his moving throat, my mind drifting away from the dinner table, and all I could think about was the helpless way he had melted under me in the library. I wanted to reach across the table right now, rip that collar down, and show his little girlfriend exactly whose teeth had been marking his skin.NOAH'S POVThe noise inside the penthouse was loud and annoying. The music was pounding through the floor, making the ice cubes in my glass shake. Everyone around me was laughing, drinking, and celebrating our big win against Northcott. I stood by the bar, leaning back against the edge, swirling a double shot of scotch in my glass.I didn't feel like celebrating. The win still felt very fake to me, and the whole night equally felt like a waste of my time. I should be at home right now, scrolling through pictures of Calix and daydreaming about him. Ariana was standing right next to me, her arm linked tightly with mine. She was wearing a sparkling silver dress, giggling loudly as she talked to a small group of her rich friends.“Oh, of course, the wedding is going to be massive,” She boasted, holding up her hand so the bright lights hit her engagement ring. “We’re thinking of booking the private island in June. Noah’s father already spoke to the mayor about the security.” Her friends
CALIX'S POVThe Northcott locker room was quiet.Nobody was shouting, nobody was playing music like they would have been doing if we had won… If I hadn't played like a fucking dimwit! The only sound was the dripping of a newly burst water pipe and the shuffling of skates against the mat floor. Everyone sat in their stalls, their heads hanging low, staring blankly at the floor. We hadn't just lost the exhibition match to Kensington—we had been C.R.U.S.H.E.D. I sat in the corner, unlacing my skate, the jersey on my back feeling like it was soaked in mud. Every breath I took burned my chest with nothing but shame.Suddenly, a shadow fell over my stall.I looked up slowly. Miller was standing in front of me. His face was bright red, his eyes bloodshot with frustration. He hadn't even taken off his helmet yet, his chest heaving up and down.“What the hell was that, Calix?” He questioned, his voice shaking so hard it barely sounded like him.I looked back down at my skate, pulling hard o
NOAH'S POVThe noise inside the Kensington arena was loud. The stadium lights were glaring, thousands of fans were screaming and waving the flags for Kensington, while the small section of Northcott supporters were struggling to blow their whistles, as usual. It was the mid-season exhibition match, the biggest game of the year, and the energy in the air was buzzing.I was standing at the center circle, bouncing slightly on my skates, and adjusting my gloves, my blood pumping fast with excitement.I couldn't wait for this. After the mess at the restaurant, I was dying to face Calix on the ice. Because on the ice, everything was simple… it was always just him and me, colliding into each other with everything we had. I wanted to feel his strength against mine… mostly the heat of his body to get me reeled up as always. Calix was my energy boost for real. I'm talking both on and off the ice. Across the center line, Calix was standing in his Northcott jersey, his hockey stick resting lo
CALIX’S POVCRAAAACK!The sound of my hockey stick hitting the puck echoed loudly in the empty arena. I watched the puck fly across the ice and move directly into the back of the net, but I didn't feel happy about the perfect shot, I just skated forward, dragged another puck from the pile, and set it up.It was past ten in the night, and the newly renovated Northcott rink was empty, illuminated only by the bright overhead stadium lights. I should have been in my dorm sleeping already, but every time I closed my eyes, I felt Noah’s body pressing me against the bathroom, and I could still feel the wet soreness between my thighs. My mind was spiraling, and the only way to keep from losing my mind was to skate until my lungs burned.I drew my stick back again, ready to take another furious shot.Clap... clap... clap…A slow, mocking applause suddenly echoed from the dark spectator benches. I froze mid-swing, and snapped my head toward the shadows near the entrance tunnel. A tall figure
NOAH'S POVThe drive back from Ariana’s mansion was silent.I had dropped her off at her family’s estate without saying a single word. She had tried to complain about the dinner, about Calix, and about how I had grabbed her leg under the table, but I had just ignored her until she got out of the car and slammed the door. My hands gripped the steering wheel of my sports car so hard my fingers were starting to go numb. The engine hummed loudly as I sped down the empty, wet highway, but the sound barely registered in my mind. My head was stuck on repeat, playing the bathroom scene over and over again. I had messed up. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. This whole sick mess with the blackmail, the threats, and the rough handling... it wasn't actually what I wanted. When I first saw Calix on the ice, when I first became so fucking obsessed with him, I didn't want to treat him so poorly or make him feel like he had to be forced into being with me. I just… I had imagined someth
CALIX'S POVNoah’s chest was still pressed against my back, his breath hot against my ear.Another tear rolled down my hot cheek. Why the hell was I even always tearing up around him? Noah suddenly started nipping on my earlobe and the last string holding my sanity together snapped. I turned around in his grip, and Noah finally let my wrists go, a smug smile starting to form on his lips as if he thought I was finally submitting to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and pressed my mouth against his, kissing him as rough as I could. I shoved my tongue into his mouth like he had done earlier, tasting the expensive champagne and the salt of my own tears, all while rocking against his bulging front. Noah let out a deep, happy groan right into my mouth. His big hands immediately flew down, gripping the meat of my ass tightly, pulling me so close there wasn't a single inch of space between our bodies. Still kissing him roughly, I dropped my hands down to his waist, grabbed the buck
CALIX'S POV One second, I was drowning in the heat of Noah’s skin against mine, the sweet roughness of his tongue, and the terrifying realization that I was wrapped around a man and I didn't want to let go. But then the next second, reality snapped back. Noah jumped off me in one swift move
NOAH'S POV He smelled like warm milk. Having him tucked against my chest, feeling the fast skip of his heart against my arm, was the first time in years that I felt like I could actually breathe. I wasn't a straight guy having a moment of weakness... I was a man who had finally caught what I
CALIX'S POV “Five a.m., Sinclair. Get up.” I blinked, my vision clearing to find Noah standing over me. He turned and walked toward the connecting door. “Five minutes. If you’re not in the rink, I’m calling the demolition crew for Northcott. You wouldn't want to fail your people again.” I ju
CALIX'S POV Seven p.m. sharp. I stood in front of my dorm building, with an old duffel bag slung over my shoulder holding everything I owned, two pairs of jeans, some faded hoodies, and my skates. Right then, a black SUV pulled up to the curb with tinted windows so dark that I couldn't see wh
