~ Chapter Twenty - Season II ~

Arriving at the bakery, I peeked through the window to see if Laura was inside.

However, the glass was too foggy and I couldn’t see through it. I then entered the bakery and looked around. But to my dismay, she was nowhere to be found.

I then looked for Grandpa Ben but even he was nowhere in sight. And I wasn’t about to ask Ronald so I figured it was better to ask someone else.

I walked over to another worker and asked, “Excuse me, madam?”

She was quick to turn around and smiled. “Good day to you, sir. What can I help you with?”

“I was wondering if Grandpa Ben or Laura arrived today,” I said.

“My apologies, sir, but Grandpa Ben left an hour ago. He is yet to return. I’m not sure when he will be back but I presume he’ll be here later,” she replied.

“What about Laura?” I asked.
