Sasha

The rays of the sun shining through the curtains jolted me awake. Goddess, I was late for my morning training.

I shifted my waist, but the heavy weight around it made me groan softly. Oh gods. Cassian was still in bed, so he came back. He didn’t go to Ravenna. He came back to me.

I slowly shifted my head, and then my entire weight, so I could face him. He was still sleeping soundly, his chest rising and falling with each breath. He looked so peaceful right now, like just a few hours ago, he wasn’t losing so much blood. I bit my lower lip, my finger hovering over his scar on the face.

Ever since the day I met him, I have been curious about it. I wanted to know what happened to him. Who did this to him? I brushed his dark hair from his face, a smile curling up on my lips. Just for this moment, I was going to savor it. My fingers moved around his face, taking it in. I want to always remember this face every time he looks sad; I want it embedded in my memory.
