I sit down at the table and take a sip of my drink.

“We haven’t finished talking,” Salvatore hisses, reaching me. Devon and Manson are still on the dance floor when the next piece starts playing.

“Look, caveman, don’t get it wrong. I don’t have to give you any explanations,” my voice is low so as not to draw attention. “If we’re talking about explanations, I think I can ask you for some.”

He sits down across from me.

“And what am I supposed to explain?”

“Maybe about your lover, the one you fucked on our wedding day.”

He clenches his jaw and looks at me intently. “What? You don’t want us to give explanations anymore? Neither of us can stand the other, that’s clear, but you also don’t want us to get along decently, so don't mess with me because I'm getting tired…”

“You’re going to leave? I want to see that,” he cuts me off ironically. “But guess what? There's a contract involved, and you can’t leave without consequences.”

I nod reluctantly because he is right.

  • The Italian's Mistaken Vengeance   Chapter 21: Girls' Night Out I

I barely look in the mirror when I get out of the shower and get ready for the day. When Salvatore got out of the shower, he did so silently and as if nothing had happened. I think we both barely realized the line we had just crossed.I got in the shower, and when I got out, Salvatore was no longer in the room.I chose a straight red dress above the knees, the ankle boots I bought a few days ago, and I grab a long jacket with large buttons that give me a more sophisticated look.I put my mobile and some cash in my pocket. I finally look at myself in the mirror, and I can't help but blush. But damn the son of a bitch, he made me finish. Before this morning, no one had. I have always encountered petty lovers who only thought about personal gratification. But that changed today; Salvatore's closeness unleashed what had been threatening us for days. And I shouldn't have given in to his caresses. I should have been stronger.I let out a breath. There is nothing I can do now but hold my hea

Pretending that kiss didn't happen is the most sensible thing to do, especially now that we are embarking on this trip. During the flight, he gets lost in his thoughts, and for my part, I choose to do some work. But every now and then, I can feel his gaze on me, making me fidget. Even though he's an idiot, imagine him saying I dress like a schoolgirl. I like to look good, but sometimes I love dressing comfortably. Even though it's a short flight, I still prefer comfort; it’s not my fault I look twenty-three.I scoff and reach for my second glass of champagne, taking a sip. I plan to meet two of my friends tomorrow night. It will be fun to see each other and enjoy their company. After a while, I've had enough of work. I stand up and walk around the place out of curiosity. I must admit that it is elegant and tasteful. It doesn't surprise me; I've noticed that Salvatore is a man with somewhat extravagant tastes. When we finally arrive in London, I decide to change clothes using the jet's

The drive back to the villa is silent, and I want to believe we are going to pretend it didn't happen. I suppose that’s the most sensible thing to do. I pull the car into the villa, park, and Helena looks at me. I watch her hesitate for a moment before letting out a breath.“Thanks for inviting me. I had fun.” She grimaces slightly. “I think that’s the first time we’ve been together and there hasn’t been any drama.”“Yes, well, we shouldn’t lose the habit,” I quip, and she nods, now with a sarcastic smile.“I still don’t like you, Di Sante.”“As it should be,” I murmur before watching her get out of the car. She walks expertly, giving me a view of her ass covered by the jeans—the same ass I had in my hands earlier.I feel my cock hardening at the memory of her body against mine.Son of a bitch!I made a mistake. I got carried away by the situation, and we kissed. It wasn't supposed to be like this. First of all, I shouldn't have invited her to the racetrack. Her impetuous kiss made me

I return to the office a couple of hours later and try to get back to work, but my encounter with Eva has left me thinking. She is not my fan, which is more than evident in the way she looks at me and speaks. Her dismissive tone and shit-eating grin tell me a lot.Her words, which seemed like a clear message, left me pondering this afternoon.Memories of the wedding day flash through my mind. Salvatore was with a woman in that room that afternoon, there’s no doubt about that, but Eva? Surprisingly, the thought that it might be Eva, Salvatore’s lover, makes me angry.I'd call that jealousy, my conscience whispers, looking at me over her sunglasses with a knowing smile."Jealous? Me?" I scoff. "Please, that word is not in my vocabulary," I finish the sentence with a growl. If you say so.I decide to put those absurd thoughts aside and focus on the laptop screen, only to realize I have a document with the updated budget for the hotel we are going to build in Inverness with the Di Santes.

  • The Italian's Mistaken Vengeance   Chapter 16: Resistance. Sounds Easy

I walk into the kitchen after my encounter with Salvatore and only see Ashley there.“Was it a good walk?” she asks while chopping some fruit.“Very good, and quite entertaining,” I reply as I walk over to the fridge and grab a bottle of water. I take a large gulp and let out a breath.I glance from the door to Ashley, wondering if I should do what I’m thinking. “Where is Molly?”“She’s in the laundry room. Today is linen day, so we started early,” she announces.Perfect. I guess it will be easier then.“Can I ask you a question?” I say in a low voice, and she nods. “Did you…? Did you know Salvatore’s first wife? Did you know Ginevra?”She stops cutting and holds her gaze on the fruit for a few seconds before looking up at me.“Yes, of course,” she replies in a casual tone, “I’ve been working here for three years.”“So, you were here when she passed away?”“Yes, a terrible accident. Mr. Salvatore had a really hard time back then.”I can imagine.“I see. But you don't know anything abo
