"Everything I said is true!" Coco Wilson held up a stack of medical records. The words 'Severe Depression' were printed in bold on the top page.

The crowd raised their phones and pointed them at Coco, and the vetting officer stepped back with a frown. "What's all this, Miss Luther?"

My heart sank as I looked at Coco. We did know each other, but everything she claimed had nothing to do with me. "Please put down the medical records, Coco."

"Are you scared now?" Coco's tears fell. "You bullied me for four years. Of course you'd want me to shut my mouth."

"I've never bullied you before."

Coco turned suddenly to look at the vetting officer and asked shrilly, "Did you hear that? She refuses to admit what she did!"

An influencer held up his gimbal and pointed the camera at my face. "Miss Luther, according to Coco Wilson, you stole her portfolio during university. How do you explain that?"

"She made up the story."

"Made up the story? She just showed us her medical records!" The influencer sniggered. "Do you think common folk can't sue you just because you come from a wealthy family?"

Everyone laughed.

Coco wiped away her tears and said in a pitiful voice, "She stole my portfolio when we were in university and used it to submit her application to all the Top 500 companies. I've tolerated it for four years, and I can't take it anymore!"

"You need to show evidence for your accusations," I told her.

"Evidence? My medical records are the evidence!" Coco slapped the records at my chest.

The vetting officer picked up a call, and the expression on his face changed. He hung up and looked at me. "Miss Luther, Walden Industries just informed me that your appointment is on hold for now."

"Why?"

"Your situation is currently trending online. The company needs to reevaluate your qualifications."

I took out my phone to check, and I read the trending headlines: [Sandra Luther, the bully who stole someone's portfolio.]

That was also when my father called me. "Sandra, my office just suspended me and told me to cooperate with any pending investigations."

He sounded calm, but I could hear my mother crying beside him.

"Dad, I'm fine."

"I know whatever they're saying isn't true."

I hung up and looked up to see the cameras still recording.

Coco stood in the crowd, surrounded by well-known news broadcasters, crying pitifully. Someone passed her some tissues as others shouted for her to be brave, promising to get her justice.

I took a step forward, wanting to say something, but an influencer in glasses stopped me right away. "What else do you have to say, Miss Luther? Didn't you see the medical records Coco Wilson showed everyone?"

"Coco, you know very well what the truth about university is."

"What truth? The truth is that you should know what you did!" Coco's voice suddenly rose.

"The truth of what I did? What did I do?" I looked right into her eyes.

Coco avoided my eyes, and she quickly started crying again. "Look at her, everyone. She's still trying to threaten me!"

The influencer turned the camera at me and said scathingly, "Your father may be wealthy, Miss Luther, but netizens are able to see through your lies!"

I could see the comments section scrolling up quickly. They were filled with disgust for me, and called for my job offer to be rescinded and for my father to be investigated.

The vetting officer put his file away and nodded at me. "Please wait for our update, Miss Luther."

He left after that, but the crowd continued pointing their cameras at me. Coco's interview could be heard from behind the crowd. "I believe Walden Industries will give me justice, and I trust the netizens will be able to tell right from wrong."

I turned to enter the building, but someone blocked my way.

"Hey, you can't leave! You haven't apologized."

"Why should I apologize when I did nothing wrong?"

"Do you think you're above everyone else just because your father is rich?"

Someone pushed me on the shoulder, and I stumbled. I turned to glance at the person, but I said nothing and continued walking into the building, listening to the verbal abuse and Coco's crying behind me.

When the elevator doors closed, I texted the vetting department.

Sandra: [I would like to apply for a public hearing. I'd like the whole process livestreamed, and I want her to present all the evidence she has.]

On Monday at 9 AM, I walked into Walden Industries' office building. Human Resources was already waiting for me at the door. "Welcome to the company, Miss Luther. Your desk is on the 17th floor, and the project team is waiting for you.""Thank you."When we entered the elevator, several colleagues glanced at me, and someone whispered, "That's the Sandra Luther people are talking about.""She looks prettier than the footage I saw online!""Look how calm she is."I pretended not to hear a thing as I stared at the floor numbers in the elevator. When we arrived at the 17th floor, the project director was already waiting for me in the meeting room. "You have a lot of experience handling overseas projects, Sandra. We have a project in Andula that we'd like you to take the lead in.""Is it okay for me to take the lead when I've just joined the company?""We've looked into your background, and Mr. Anderson has written a letter of recommendation for you, stating that you're capable enou

On the day my counterclaim went to trial, Coco did not hire any lawyers. She sat alone on the defendant's bench. Her hair was messy, and she looked nothing like the tearful victim she pretended to be.The judge announced the results of the case. "The defendant, Coco Wilson, has fabricated rumors and slandered the plaintiff with serious accusations, and is found guilty of defamation defamation. "She is sentenced to give a public apology to the plaintiff and will pay $80,000 in damages. She will also bear all litigation costs for the proceedings."Coco lowered her head and said nothing."The defendant has forged medical reports of her mental condition, which this court will inform relevant medical organizations to put on record."He did not stop there. "The two 'classmates' who were involved in providing fake testimonies will be fined and admonished separately.""Leroy Milton, an influencer in the education space, is fined $5,000 for disseminating false information, and his social

Coco did try to sue me. My mother nearly passed out when the court summons arrived at my house. "How could she have the gall to sue you?""She's suing me for defamation, claiming that my public hearing has caused her mental and emotional distress, and she's asking me to pay her $500,000 in damages."My father glanced at the court summons when he rushed back from work. "Have you hired a lawyer?""I did. We're meeting tomorrow.""It's her last attempt to salvage this for herself." My father placed the court summons on the table. "No one online will believe her again after she lost at the public hearing. She's just trying to use the courts to turn the tables on us.""She won't succeed."The next day, I met with my lawyer. My lawyer laughed after he finished reviewing Coco's complaint. "She wrote this like a bad novel. It's all emotions and no evidence.""What evidence did she submit for this?""Just a medical report proving her depression from last year, which has nothing to do wi

When I thought Coco had finally stopped, an education influencer uploaded a long post the next morning with the headline: [Sandra Luther's evidence might have been faked. Don't be tricked by a capitalist.]He posted several blurred screenshots and claimed there were traces that my immigration records had been photoshopped. [She could have created all the evidence because her family is rich. Think about it, everyone. How can a mere high school graduate get a job offer from one of the Top 500 companies? [Besides, what qualifications does she have to be hired by such a company when she never even studied at university? This doesn't make sense.]The comments section was once again filled with wavering opinions.[He's right. How can a high school graduate get hired in a Top 500 company? Something smells fishy about this.][Who is Sandra Luther's father?][Look into her father. Look into her entire family!]I took a screenshot of the education influencer's post and submitted it to

Just when I thought Coco had finally admitted her wrongdoing, she stood up from the ground with a new look in her eyes. She wiped away her tears and looked at the screen. "Those two classmates ran off because they got spooked, but I still have witnesses."Rita immediately pulled out her phone to make a call, and three minutes later, the door to the room opened. A man and a woman in their 20s entered. "We're Coco Wilson's university classmates, and we witnessed Sandra Luther bullying her," the man said with conviction. "Not only did Sandra bully her, but she also stole Coco's design drafts, and our entire class knows it."The woman nodded. "Sandra's family is rich, which is why the university covered it up, and none of us dared say anything about it."Their statements caused the livestream viewers to waver.[More witnesses?][Who's telling the truth?][Are you lying, Sandra?]I looked at them and asked, "You say you're my university classmates?""Yup. We were in the same class

The silence lasted for about five seconds before the comments section exploded.[Wait, did she just say that she never attended university?][Then where did her 'classmates' come from?][I just checked, and Sandra Luther indeed left the country after graduating high school. There's a record of it online.]That was when I took out my first set of evidence from the document bag. "These are my immigration exit and entry records for the past six years. Every stamp I have from entering and exiting the country is right here."I showed the records to the camera. "The year I graduated from high school, I left the country with my father to work on a project in Andula, and I've stayed overseas since then."After that, I showed them my second set of evidence. "This is the work contract for my overseas project. They include my work visa and the stamp and signature of my employer overseas."Next, I showed them the third set of evidence. "This is a confirmation letter from the country's educa
